Warm and Fuzzy

No arranged marriage cliches of push and pull or making the partner miserable before falling for them. It was a simple drama about two people who marry out of a government experiment but fall for each other gradually while living together and finding out nice things about each other. The ML and FL are both people who do not have experience with romantic relationships, so they take their time to trust the other person.
I won't say it was a slow romance but it was more about becoming a family for each other.
The acting was nice. The actress is quite young and it is her first drama but she has an infectious smile. The side characters do not have a storyline of their own, but contribute nicely to the main story.
Jdramas for me are always about the warm fuzziness and this was the same. I'd say the first half was stronger than the second half but it wasn't boring.

Good Enough

" Marry Me! " is a warm, cozy drama presenting in a short time a well paces contract marriage relationship.

The drama had one thing going for it, the leading lady! She was so adorable, it was impossible to not root for her, or want to protect her (like the male lead soon found out). The slice of life atmosphere that it was created was just perfect for the story of the drama and it formed a cozy, warm and safe environment where the characters opened up, had character development, and warmed up towards each other.

In addition, the couple was cute, with chemistry and smooth progress when it came to their romance.

As for the side characters, they were interesting and kept the story going, but they didn't overshadow the main couple.

So, overall, eight out of ten.

Very Nice and Feel Good Watch

A very nice and feel good watch. It was so refreshing watching this drama. Despite being in an arranged marriage, Shin and Himari had respect and was considerate of each other from the very beginning. I really liked this aspect of the show. Their love had a good foundation, there were no big expectations, everything happened naturally. They truly cared for each other. I cried along the touching moments and smiled along the happy ones. Himari’s smile is so contagious.

What you WON’T see:
- Rude male lead
- No backbone female lead
- Unnecessary misunderstandings
- Bad acting
- Meddlesome parents
- Pretentious shyness after marriage
- Immature characters

Pure adoration and a big round of applause for this drama!!!!

Watch it!!!!!!

The story of this drama is almost one of the best have ever watched it was very simple and it has the right amount of honesty and romance. The characters was beautifully portrayed and it made me realize a lot of things when it comes to learning how to love. The characters also showed a kind of love that is worth of every second of my time. I was amazed by the scenes that didn't show much skinship yet made my heart thump and made me feel butterflies in my stomach. I was smiling the whole time because of the fact that the drama and story was not complicated at all and it was refreshing to watch.

Short, simple and sweet

There is no real conflict in this drama. It's just a story of 2 lonely individuals who find themselves married through the NEET initiative and build a world of their own together.

Surprisingly, despite how short it is, it doesn't skip much and you can see how the leads gradually fall for each other and become a family.

The side characters, too, are sweet and don't hog unnecessary screen space.

The acting is decent. Nothing to write pages about, but nothing to criticise either. Special mention to the lead actress who is absolutely adorable. No one can dislike her.

Hands down the easiest, least complicated drama I've seen. Warm, fuzzy, soft and yet heartwarming.

‘Healing’ type? More like MEH type.

I read the reviews for this drama before I started on it. I must say that I trusted the reviews from all the different reviewers and had fairly high expectations of this drama. Unfortunately, this drama is, to me, very MEH and I cannot understand why other viewers have given it great reviews.

The slightly good stuff:
- drama moves along quite fast as it’s just 10 episodes long and each episode is less than half an hour long
- drama’s characters are okay to watch - they aren’t the best actors but they are decent
- ending is happy

The MEH stuff:
- strange plot in my opinion
- lack of chemistry between the leads
- as things move quickly along, there are parts that aren’t explained well and are just glossed over
- the plot and the characters don’t make you feel invested in them in anyway - everything seems very external if you get what I mean

I’d say watch something else. Not worth your time. This drama isn’t sweet and fluffy at all. There are definitely better dramas out there.

This is the definition of a heartwarming, innocent romance. A slow and steady build, focused on genuine connection more than crackling chemistry, no real skinship on screen apart from some hugs and maybe hand holding, and both leads are thoughtful and kind and well suited for each other. It's just a charming little series that, while it probably will not beheart-pounding for most, is very compelling.

Personally, I'm reaching an age where I've begun to appreciate the idea of a simple romance over the high-intensity, butterflies, excitement, idealistic romance of youth. That's not to say that I don't still love those heart-pounding love stories that give you goosepimples all over. I do. But at a certain point, you realize that what you really want is not wild passion but just someone who is going to be there journeying through life with you, taking on your burdens with you, and building you up so you can be the best you can be. And that is this drama's love story.

The premise, a law to force NEETs into marriage, is obviously not realistic and would have no effectiveness towards getting NEETs to participate in the work force, but considering it's somewhat outlandishness (and I do say somewhat because I don't think it's the most ridiculous plotline by any means), it plays out in a very natural and realistic way. The main character's supervisor remarks multiple times that the NEET Protection Law is kind of messed up, and the male lead develops increasing concern with it as well. The female lead is never actually forced into the marriage. The overall tone of the drama is very much one of respect for people's boundaries and their autonomy, and it stays consistently so through the last episode.

I do want to explain here for those thinking about watching this drama the difference between a NEET and a Hikikomori, as it is relevant to the story. A NEET is someone Not in Education, Employment, or Training for a variety of reasons. A Hikikomori is a person who has chosen to withdraw from society, going to extreme degrees to do so. There is some overlap between these two categories, as many Hikikomori are unemployed and not in higher education, but they are still two seperate categories. The reason I'm explaining this difference is because there is some confusion over Himari as a character. She is described by the drama as a NEET, but she also has some Hikikomori tendencies, especially early on in the story. The drama does not address these tendencies, and while I don't know that it was necessary for it to do so, it does cause some confusion and a mild (in my opinion) plothole when Himari overcomes some of these tendencies a little too quickly in the first few episodes. But this did not ruin the viewing experience for me in any way, and I don't really think it has to for others. Himari overcoming some of her anxiety and discomfort so quickly is meant to signal to the viewer that she feels comfortable with Shin enough to open herself up, and I think this is done effectively.

This is definitely going in my favorite dramas/favorite romance dramas lists. It just makes you feel good inside, and I highly recommend it.

Romantic fluff where you keep smiling at your laptop while watching the series.

Watch it if you’re in the mood for: Arranged marriage trope with good looking leads and a gentle love theme. Their love story does not have unnecessarily stretched misunderstandings. Lacks skinship but still has decently enough flutters. Plus it's a short watch. This series needs better ratings so that this surfaces to romance seekers like me.

Why I liked it:
* ML: He was always kind and considerate when it came to the FL, treating her like someone precious. Also, grew mature for her.
As an aside, he is the least Japanese-looking ML I have seen. Frankly, he can 100% pass off as an Indian. I checked his bio to see if he has mixed blood!

* FL: She is really good looking. Her skin glows and her smile slays. I have to admit her picture can be posted in the dictionary next to the word "Kawai".

Just watching the 2 leads together being calm, considerate of each other, always so mannered towards each other, makes for a series with a flow like a gentle stream. Time well spent! Now if only someone can take the same plot and make a more steamier version with actual skinship that characterises a marriage.

Sweet love story ticking all the boxes

Whether you have heard of NEET or Hikikomori spectrum is unimportant for the enjoyment of this drama. You will find out about them soon enough but I’m afraid it is only scratching the surface. This drama is not about addressing social problems. This is a love story first and foremost. As such, it is very well told.

Watching Marry Me is like participating in a script writing class. All the tropey elements are present and accounted for. They pop up on cue and play their parts to good effect. We have SM/FL and they stirred things up before moving on. The ML’s parents showed up unannounced and the stress level jumped as expected. Reconciliation arrived just in time and we find out that they are good people but they do need to work on their communication skills. This is the one True Way.

I know it sounds humdrum, but this show is better than that. This is largely because our leads are so adorable. They do not have a mean bone between them. They have total trust and love for each other. Time and again, they express their happiness just being in each other's company.

This means most plot developments are window dressing. They move the story along and our leads have their growth and mini breakthroughs. We watch them fall in love and use their commitment to overcome whatever obstacles placed before them. This is not high drama by any means but a steady and satisfying march towards the HEA ending. All the boxes are ticked methodically. Those little ducklings line up with military precision. Huzzah!

This show is not for everyone. If you are a romantic then this is a must watch. I certainly enjoyed it a lot and I'll binge watch it again over a wet weekend.

So, basically, the Japanese Government has decided to address the NEETs (people Not in Employment, Education nor Training) problem as well as the always declining birthrate, and...
Wait!
I know you've already read the synopsis, I'm not such a lousy reviewer as to needlessly repeat it, trust me...so bear with me for a few more seconds, will ya?
Where was I?
Oh, yeah:
...and they came up with a master plan: to have a dorama made, starring Kumada Rinka as the ideal wife (she's beautiful, kind, feminine, honest, sweet...add a few dozens more qualities and you'll get close to understanding how perfect she is in this!) so that even such old and staunch bachelors as yours truly would actually change their mind at least for the duration of the dorama and think that it'd be nice to get married.
I swear, these Japanese are a clever bunch! Chapeau, guys! ^__________^
p.s.
Jokes aside: it's a refreshingly clean, sweet and heartwarming lil' dorama, with a beautiful script and great performances by the whole cast! Highly recommended!!!

A feel good drama

A simple story, a cute one and no more than this.
For me, as a European, some things feels so strange, but the world is interesting because of that. Such difference in society, but I wonder what happiness is about…
STORY – a legislation to bring people into society through marriage. Two lost persons find themselves through the other. Cosy, sweet, and a good time to spare.
CASTING – good job, but the characters are very plain and they do not have to exert themselves to deliver.
MUSIC – do not remember any of the songs or sounds.
REWATCH – I like it, but I will not watch it again. The feeling will stay with me.
OVERALL – good to entertain. Warms a heart that wants happy things.

Nice little drama.

A cute little drama

I liked the acting and the chemistry between them. They are both good actor

Finally, a drama that is not - we find each other and then break up to find one another again theme.

This drama breaks with that line of story. It is nice to see a storyline that is all about how to move forward and not chaos and intrigue.
The only thing that annoyed me was the child's father who seemed weird at first. What is up with pinching children hard on the cheek? Can we just stop that?
It is worth watching, and I think I will watch it again.
