Ridiculous storyline and unappealing characters.
This drama quickly turned ridiculous and boring. I stopped watching it in the middle of the 3rd episode. The first 2 episodes were already a sign of how poor this drama seemed but the 3 episode confirmed it. Don’t waste your time on this one. if you’re truly curious then just watch the 1st episode then you’ll know… It goes downhill from there trust me.I cannot understand how anyone can give this drama anything above a 4.
The “Dr.” is portrayed as an incompetent space tourist with a secret “mission”. Although he has been training with the Team of astronauts for a year before their takeoff he falls apart during and after takeoff. The Commander pulls a gun on the Dr. because she suspects he’s up to something suspicious but then she hugs him after he saves a lab rat during an open heart surgery in space. If this doesn’t sound ridiculous yet, there’s more! They delayed connecting to the space station for 20 minutes because of 2 fruit flies mating in space to the Commander’s fascination and obsession. I just can’t! 🤦🏻♀️

Repeat after me: you can't say the drama is good just because the main actor is Lee Min Ho.
Just because your favorite actor is Lee Min Ho, who, spoiler alert, is a bit overrated, you can’t say the drama is good, that the cast is fantastic, or anything like that. You give a bad impression of the drama, which is frankly boring and nonsense.. What story are we watching? Yes, it’s just a drama, but logically, how does an astronaut bring a gun with them? Also, do you really find it fascinating how someone looks admiringly at two flies mating?
how can a civilian, a space tourist, even think about bringing something undeclared onto a space station, really bro, are you serious?

What am I watching? Why am I watching? How am I watching?
I don't have the answers to any of these questions lol. What's happening here? I don't believe LMH and GHJ chose this script by themselves.1. The entire essence of the story (about this IVF, space fertility center etc..) feels BS even if you turn off our brain.
2. Somehow there is no chemistry at all between any of the characters, the ML, FL, SFL, SML. You don't sense a genuine affection/love/even hatred for that matter between any of them.
3. The ML trying to fall for the FL feels sooooo forced. I mean common......you met this person (FL) just a while ago and are already falling for her without any reason (literally there were no such intimate scenes for it to happen this soon) lmao.
4. The other operators, that one and only English speaking guy and the side characters in the space craft, this rich senseless FIL, the lady who gave her eggs omgggg.. none of these make any sense!
The story just don't add up with the image it created, the actors casted, the budget involved and finally the looong wait for it to be released. Sorry but this is just an unfortunate disaster. Will I continue watching this? No idea..

Ambitiously dragging
*When The Stars Gossip* embarks on an ambitious journey, blending romance, comedy, and sci-fi within the unique setting of a space mission. However, despite its intriguing premise, the execution leaves much to be desired, resulting in a series that struggles to find a cohesive tone and narrative rhythm. One of the primary issues lies in the uneven pacing. The series oscillates between moments of high drama, such as the spacewalk sequences, and light-hearted comedy, which often feels jarring rather than complementary. The comedic elements, including Gong Ryong's peculiar fascination with Eve’s feet, are amusing but detract from the more serious undertones the show occasionally aims to convey. This tonal inconsistency undermines the tension and emotional stakes, making it difficult to invest fully in the narrative.
Character development is also lacking. While Gong Ryong shows potential, other characters, such as Eve and Go-eun, feel underdeveloped, reducing the impact of the love triangles that are meant to drive much of the drama. Subplots, like the lottery ticket mystery, are contrived and fail to add meaningful depth or intrigue, instead padding the story with unnecessary distractions.
The writing, while ambitious, falters in its attempt to balance multiple genres. The romantic and comedic elements clash with the sci-fi setting, creating a disjointed narrative that struggles to maintain a consistent tone. The humor, often slapstick or surreal, feels out of place in the context of the more serious sci-fi and romantic drama, leading to a series that feels unsure of its identity.
Overall, *When The Stars Gossip* is a show with potential, but its current execution leaves it floundering. With stronger writing, improved visual effects, and more focused character development, it could evolve into a compelling series. As it stands, however, it is a show that promises much but delivers inconsistently, making it a frustrating watch for those seeking a seamless blend of genres and a gripping storyline.

Space cringe opera
This show is trying to be many things at the same time but doesn't get one right. The humor is stale and cringy, like feet fetish level.
The director is all about style above substance, like the pointless dream like pool sequence and other space screensaver shots that bring nothing to the story progression.
But, a even bigger problem is that the characthers storylines are outlandish and cheesy and the premisse is simply preposterous: let's shoot some dead chaebol heir sperm into space ...
Such a big budget and so many known actors for this this trainwreck off a show. At least this is a clear winner for the category "cringiest show off the year".

Interesting premise that is ruined by the execution
While the premise sounds interesting, and the show kept me entertained at first, the overall execution is lackluster and disappointing, which is why I finally decided to DNF this 15 minutes into episode 5. The “conflict” between the male lead and Eve went on and on, but it’s the phone call between the twins that kind of killed it for me. I don’t even know what their thing with the lottery ticket is, but they are both so annoying: space twin is oddly whiny and shrill/childish, and planet twin is oddly dominant and both of them maximized the annoying effect they have on me.Episode 4 was already quite weird to be honest. Why would the space tourist, untrained and unprofessional as he is, be Eve’s savior… out of all possible people that could have helped her? Makes no sense. Everyone, be it in space or on planet Earth, wasted precious minutes “monitoring” and asking the same, tired questions instead of stepping in and getting their commander back inside… like,… I don’t know?
The whole … reproductive propaganda is also done distastefully. Korea has low birthrates at the moment, and this show is not really promoting having babies in a good way: the female characters concerned with the space reproduction don’t even have a say about the doctor (Kang Su or the male lead) treating their eggs and they generally have no bodily autonomy as of right now. So far, in 4 episodes, the CEO has just decided everything or fired everyone in the women’s stead, which is so icky. (Also, him blaming the male lead for Go Eun’s baby loss made no sense, her pregnancy was literally not viable and life threatening??)
Anyway, there is maybe more to say, but the show just didn’t do it for me. Moving on to the next👋🏻👋🏻

U can't get everything right with sci-fi drama/movie expecially since its not American product
The narrative's focus is on a romantic comedy set in space, which naturally requires bending some scientific truths for dramatic effect. Characters like Gong Ryong, an OB-GYN with a secret mission, and the interactions between astronauts and tourists, are more about advancing the plot than adhering to scientific plausibility.there might b moments when u hate on this because it lack scientific truth but for once let's be sensible and understand that this is all fictional like they won't make everything looks perfect....at least the main thing was don perfectly that's the CGI and VFX
And for the cheating aspect this is something that is real like it happens to moat people (Falling in love with someone else when already u are already in a relationship) this is always because the current situation mean the relationship is lacking and as long as they broke up before anything happens it's no cheating (forget abt emmotion cheating)

Love, Laughter, and Zero Gravity: A Cosmic Rom-Com Adventure
When the Stars Gossip shines as a cosmic adventure brimming with fun, ambition, innovation, and romance. Starring the ever-charismatic Lee Min Ho and the brilliant Gong Hyo Jin, the drama offers a fresh and delightful twist on familiar tropes. Lee Min Ho takes on the role of a financially struggling OB-GYN doctor who, in an unexpected turn of events, embarks on a mission to space as a tourist. Opposite him, Gong Hyo Jin captivates as Commander Eve Kim, a perfectionist, rule-abiding space professional driven by her passion for her work. Their clashing personalities spark instant intrigue, setting the stage for a romance that’s far from ordinary.Unlike the usual rom-com fare, **When the Stars Gossip** blends humor, heart, and futuristic adventure. Only two episodes in, and it’s already clear this drama will deliver a captivating mix of romance and comedy, thanks to a well-rounded cast and dynamic writing.
The second leads are just as engaging, with the **second female lead** portrayed as the sole heir of MZ Corporation and Lee Min Ho’s current girlfriend. The narrative benefits from a strong ensemble of familiar and beloved faces, adding to its charm and promise.
The premise of a cosmic journey with a unique focus on fertility in space hints at exciting twists and turns to come. With its stellar cast, innovative concept, and a perfect balance of humor and heartfelt moments, When the Stars Gossip promises a delightful escape. I’m eager to see how this unconventional space-bound romance continues to evolve and keep us entertained.
Continuing my review after episode 4, I had high hopes and tried to keep an open mind with this big-budget drama featuring a star-studded cast, but now that I’m on episode 3, the narrative feels disappointingly mediocre. I’m not trying to be harsh, but it’s missing that gripping hook that keeps you eagerly anticipating the next episode. After patiently waiting for the story to pick up through the first two episodes, my excitement is starting to wane.

An Insterstellar Romance at its Best!
Lee Min Ho & Gong Hyo Jin in a cosmic romance, what could go wrong? One of the most expensive Korean dramas to be produced in a long time, “When the Stars Gossip” has one thing working in its favor- a brilliant casting. Starring Lee Min Ho, Gong Hyo Jin, Oh Jung Se & Han Ji Eun in lead roles, the storyline showcases a romance in the midst of interstellar adventures. Set in the mystique world of outer space, the show focuses on survival instincts and mostly, reproductive abilities, especially in a scenario where resources are scarce, and they have to battle zero gravity on a daily basis. The challenges aligned with conducting research based experiments forms the core of this story. The varied characters play their role well, driving the narrative in an intriguing manner. Lee Min Ho’s Gong Ryong is an adorable personality with a tinge of rebellious attitude and oodles of fear+anxiety. This was my first time watching Lee Min Ho quiver on fear and to say, it was interesting wouldn’t suffice!
