Manner of Death (2020)

After starring in Together With Me, Max and Tul were given the opportunity to take on the lead roles in this genre-bending series. I think they've matured even more as actors, especially the manly Max (Tan), who also became a wonderful symphony, perhaps even because they finally "brushed" off his forehead (in addition, the battles in his performance were convincing, no "just like"), Tul (Bun) was cute as always, it just bothered me a little bit how the Thai hairdressers made him stiff with the combing, but that's beside the point.
The overall quality is very high, I appreciate that they were no longer the "little boys" from freshman year at university.
The story is a bit long and overcombined. The first major erotic rapprochement between Tan and Bun in the seventh volume is so convincing, wonderful, and at the same time there is no need for big erotic scenes, that I haven't seen anything like it for a long time ...
If I remember this series, it will not be the shooting games and the complexity of the plot, but the almost perfect main pair of young men will always come to mind as dominant, both acting and appearance ... so I leave this review with the words of Buna Tan: " you smell beautiful" ...

Po hlavních rolích v Together With Me dostali Max a Tul možnost se ujmout hlavních rolí tohoto žánrem zcela odlišného seriálu. Myslím, že herecky ještě více vyspěli, především mužný Max (Tan), ze kterého se navíc stal úžasný sympoš, možná už i tím, že mu konečně "odčesali" afinku z čela (navíc ty bitky v jeho provedení byly přesvědčivé, žádné "jen jako"), Tul (Bun) byl roztomilý jako vždycky, jen mi trošku vadilo to, jak ho ti thajští vlásenkáři prznili tím česáním, ale to je nepodstatné.
Celková kvalita velice vysoká, oceňuji, že už to nebyli "malí chlapečci" z prváku na univerzitě.
Příběh trošku zdlouhavý a překombinovaný. První větší erotické sblížení Tana a Buna v sedmém díle je tak přesvědčivé, nádherné, a přitom nemusí dojít k velkým erotickým scénám, že jsem podobné dlouho neviděl ...
Pokud si vzpomenu na tento seriál, tak to nebudou střílečky a komplikovanost děje, ale vždy se mi jako dominantí vybaví téměř dokonalá hlavní dvojice mladých mužů, a to jak herecky, tak zjevem ... takže se loučím s touto recenzí slovy Buna Tanovi: "voníš nádherně" ...

Equilíbrio quase perfeito entre suspense policial e boys love

Manner Of Death é aquele tipo de drama super fora do padrão comum de romance pão com ovo tailandês, mas que vai te entregar nas cenas de interação romantica dos protagonistas o mesmo sentimento e gana que os romances padrão pão com ovo normalmente causam nos telespectadores. A química MaxTul é incrível e muito bem equilibrada durante a série, você consegue sentir que a paixão que eles tem um pelo outro está no mesmo nível da necessidade em se protegerem e até no ódiozinho e na rivalidade do começo do relacionamento.

Bun é um médico legista que acabou de se transferir para sua cidade natal, onde ele acaba reencontrando antigos amigos. Poucos dias depois de chegar, uma de suas amigas de infância mais próxima, Jane, comete suicídio e Bun acaba como o responsável pelos procedimentos de necropsia para investigar a causa da morte dela. Ele descobre, então, que Jane pode não ter se suicidado, mas a polícia não parece querer ouvir sua análise médica, então Bun acaba se aproximando de Tan, um amigo próximo de Jane, para tentar descobrir o que realmente aconteceu.

A premissa TanBun é que o dr. Bun suspeita do Tan por ele ser muito próximo da Jane, então eles não iniciam seu relacionamento de uma forma muito agradável, por mais que o Tan demonstre a todo momento que quer proteger o Bun. Demora um pouco para eles confiarem um no outro, mas durante a série tanta coisa acontece que no fim é quase impossível eles não se apoiarem e protegerem contra qualquer coisa. O romance é muito maduro, ele tem seus momentos soft, mas todo o processo de aproximação de TanBun como casal é muito natural, muito fluído. Não tem todo aquele tabu com o primeiro beijo que normalmente é apresentado nos dramas escolares, justamente pelos personagens já serem mais velhos, não tem tabu nenhum na primeira noite deles juntos (mas o drama nem foca muito nessa parte, na realidade) e não tem tanto tabu deles demonstrarem afeto perto de outras pessoas, por mais que o Bun seja do feitio envergonhado. Além disso, o drama trata de assuntos bem pesados como suicídio, tráfico de mulheres, prostituição, aborto, então realmente não tem muito tempo pros protagonistas ficarem de mimimi com a sexualidade deles rs.

Manner Of Death foi um drama que me deixou muito contente pelo seu tema, seriedade e pela química do casal principal. Eu sinto que nada faltou nele, tudo esteve sempre muito bem equilibrado, os episódios fluíram numa velocidade que, quando eu percebi, já tava terminando e eu nem tinha visto o tempo passar (e olha que fui assistindo aos poucos). Sem críticas negativas, Manner of Death é tudo que a tailândia precisa pra espandir seu catálogo de gêneros dentro do gênero BL.

MUST WATCH! THE PLOT TWIST IS THE BEST PART!

Observation:
I'm pretty sure that people who have watched "Not Me" and liked it will love "Manner of Death"

Story:
The plot twist at the end of each episode was the best part for me, when I thought I knew something, I would be speechless at the end of the episode.
I think there where some unnecessary scenes that could have been replaced with better ones, that's the only reason I don't give it a 10/10.
I didn't find the story boring at all once, it was always super interesting and I didn't have to take a break from it like I had to do with other shows.


Acting/Cast:
I loved the cast in general, specially the main characters/main couple, their chemestry was perfect tbh, I hope to see them acting together again in the future. The acting was also pretty good in general, almost perfect for my likining.

Music:
The music was pretty chil and good to hear in general, not much to say about it.

Rewatching Value:
I will rewatch it in the future for sure, it was super interesting and I enjoyed every single moment of it, I'll totally recommend it to my friends.

Surprisingly adherent to the genre

You might think the "gruesome crime in a small town investigated by a person who has recently joined/rejoined the community" genre (ala Broadchurch, Top of the Lake, Trapped, etc.) would be too different from the typical Thai TV/BL genre for them to ever mix but this show has definitely proven otherwise. A unique aspect here is that our main character is the medical examiner who is trying to bring justice even when it appears the police are part of a cover up. And obviously the main character's love interest being a man who is implicated and has had an unclear relationship with the victim is a unique aspect as well. But the more explicit things that typify the genre like particularly gruesome crimes, drug use, child abuse, etc. aren't shied away from as much as you might expect (although I still wouldn't say it's the most mature show - there are still very much "Thai TV" moments, and the video-game like on-screen descriptions feel overdone). Overall for fans of small town crime thrillers this is a unique yet faithful take on the genre so far, let's only hope they stick the landing!

Superb series

Having bing being watched the together series, MANNER OF DEATH was awauted with great expectations and it can be said it was not disappointing. It was great to rewatch mg favorites Tul and Max or Knock and Korn as Dr. Bun and Mr. Tan. Their chemistry burns the screen when ever they appear. A new genere for a BL series. Looking forward to see how the story unfolds to find the real murderer in this murder mystery. Tul and Max have become seasond actors and their maturity shows in their acting skills. Tul's eyes speak and Max's expressions match on equal footing. Wishing the series a great success.

MUST WATCH if you haven't already!

I am extremely late to the party because I have been missing out so much!! I finally got the chance to watch MoD and let me tell you that I regret so much not watching this sooner. The plot, the acting, the pacing, everything is excellent.

I will admit that going into the show, I did look up a few spoilers which I know ruins the whole experience BUT, I am an EXTREMELY emotional person and I DO NOT like surprises that can possibly lead to hyper-emotional episodes. anyway, I knew that someone named Rung is the worst person alive and the one behind everything. And even after knowing the spoiler, the way everything was done and revealed episode by episode was absolutely amazing.

Max and Tul's chemistry was so adorable. I love that they didn't completely change their entire personalities after getting together like what happens in most thai BLs. They were adults and they acted like adults, which was very refreshing and appreciated.

The only complain I have is the lighting and color grading of the show. Many times the scenes felt and looked too dull. It needed more brightness. I understand that they could have been trying to set a gloomy or foreboding mood but it did not hit at all. though that is the only complain I have.

In the end, I would HIGHLY recommend watching the show because it's a full package. If you, like me, are late to this particular show but have kept up with other newer BLs, than this has lowkey Laws of Attraction vibes and you will absolutely fall in love with the characters. Especially Inspector M, I see you Mr. Tight Shirts ?

Bueno, acabo de terminar de ver esta maravilla y debo decir que junto a UWMA es mi BL y drama favorito, es que es espléndido, aunque le veo un par de fallos, pero vamos por partes.

La historia de Jane es muy triste y trágica, siento que realmente solo Tan y Bun se preocupaban por ella (NO, Pued no la quería tanto si permitió que la violasen solo por un poco de poder) y ver su historia entera hacia el final te destroza, sobretodo la contraseña de su correo sabiendo que es la hermana la culpable...

Pued...pues si fue de ayuda pero igual es un cobarde e interesado asqueroso.

Los villanos los llegas a odiar, y el plot twist de la hermana no lo vi venir, pero NO me gustó que uno lograra escaparse (a no ser que eso signifique que hay segunda temporada con el inspector y el ayudante del doctor).

Lo que no me gustó tanto fue lo fácil que Bun perdonó a Tan y That, vamos a ver cariño, que te mandaron al hospital, casi mueres y te dijo con toda su cara 'En mi casa estarás mejor' casi ?...Y que NADIE recomendase a That it al médico con la herida que tenía, entiendo que era para forzar que Sorn y él se llevasen mejor y que luego Bun juntase las piezas pero hace quedar a Tan aún peor a mi parecer, literal que lo estuve odiando hasta el cap 10 por esto.

DRAMA DO ANO

maxtul reis da Tailândia e entregando o melhor bl de todos. A história é incrível, cada momento você querendo saber o que vai acontecer no próximo ep. A atuação deles é perfeita e a química não precisa nem falar nada né pqp. E maxtul inova demais, muito bom eles trazendo um bl tailandês que não seja no universo universitário, finalmente um bl adulto ?? espero que até o final fique perfeito assim como tá. Enfim, é isso, acompanho eles desde 2017 e fiquei extremamente feliz quando foi anunciado que eles teriam um comeback ainda mais em um drama criminal ?

I started watching for Max and Tul and i'm honestly loving it because it's not school based. An actual BL show where the men are not in high school. They actually have jobs. Yes! The bar is this low lol. There's mystery around the show but i'm just in episode 3 so i'm still figuring it out!

Can we also talk about the theme song in the beginning?? i love it so much! Gives me goosebumps!
