Kind of hilarious.

Kkondae Intern is an adorable little show that I wish got more recognition. It’s not an amazing story, and it’s not particularly addicting, but it’s got a low-key charm and great characters and I actually really liked it. This was initially on my radar, because of Park Hae-jin, who I love. But I actually started watching it because of Park Ki-woong, because I missed him after finishing Gaksital.

Ramen felt a lot more important while watching this. Park Hae-jin made me believe his love for it.
The characters and the story were a little ridiculous, but I was sad to see it end. I’ve got a renewed love for Park Hae-jin, but he’s not the only person I was watching for. Every scene had a reason to watch, whether or not he was there.

Cast/Characters:

It takes a while for you to get a sense of the characters, especially the main lead, but once you do it’s a fun ride. Park Hae-jin is great in comedy, which was unexpected, because I’ve only seen him play low-key and high-key sociopaths (and also a sad second lead, but I don’t count that one because he was boring). He’s also got great chemistry with Kim Eung-soo, and I would totally watch a 50 episode sitcom about them living together, working together, and being grumpy together.

Park Ki-woong’s outfits cracked me up. Yep that’s all.

Honestly, a lot of the supporting cast is forgettable, with the exception of Han Ji-eun and Noh Jong-hyun (the “main” supporting cast, I guess). I really liked the two of them and their storylines.

The OST:

I kind of love the music in this show. I’d get really hyped when certain songs started playing. The OST isn’t amazing, but it really works with this show, and it made me laugh in its own right.

Final thoughts: Y'all should totally watch this if it seems like your thing. It's only 12 hours long, so not a super long time commitment, and it made me smile.

Just a lovable show

This show was hilarious.

I was very surprised by the ratings as this show was quite entertaining and had a great perspective that was executed well. The premise of the show was so relatable in that it showcased the differences between the traditional workforce and the modern while representing the great pressures of both groups and how they can overcome them together. Truly a wonderful story.

There is no real romance in the story, they just allude to it which I quite enjoyed. I liked that they didn't try to force a romance down our throats in between the real plot line. Lee Man Sic was quite a character and truly the star of the show.

This is one to recommend.

Wild, but lots of fun and laughter.

I quite liked this show. It was short but sweet - the main premise, the kkondae vs the younger employee was a good story arc that became developed as the show progressed.

I absolutely adored the romance between the quiet intern and the stern contract worker (played by Park Ah In). It developed rather slowly but each step of the way it was sweet. And I was TENSE when they almost broke up... gah I hate that trope. I think that part of it for me was the best/memorable parts of the show. BTW Park Ah In's outfits were so nice, she looked like Park Minyoung in Secretary Kim lol. As for the main romance, I didn't care too much. It was kind of boring (but when she rejected him because he was a "kkondae"... lol!)

I think this deserves a rewatch if you're feeling bored one day and want something lighthearted mostly. I say mostly because the first episode did NOT turn out to be what I expected from the promotional poster - it was kind of dark in the first half. Apart from that, I think it was a lovely and cute show.

I need me more of that second lead couple.

A light hearted watch with a great mix of fun and struggles.
The tables are turned on a manager who once bullied and mistreated a young intern... what goes around really did come around and initially it felt good!
However, through various events and struggles, all concerned get life lessons that open their eyes and enable them to grow.
This is not intended to be a heavy watch with messages and depth, but it is touching, quite positive and with more than a few giggles.
I loved the characters of Han-gil and Oh-kyung/ Anasatisia (snr interns), who show that older people aren't necessarily dull, can still be sharp (and in the case of Oh-kyung, attractive too), plus have lived fascinating lives... no one is born old, it comes to everyone and people should be judged on their character not age.
Another favourite was intern Yoon-soo, whose character faced numerous challenges and whilst he made several bad judgement calls, faced up to it each time.
Jun-soo (especially) and Man-shik, were characters that I couldn't help but like, even though the former was spoilt and and tried to manipulate people, and the latter was often egotistical and beligerant!
I'd have liked a little more romance between Yeol-chan and Tae-ri, which seemed imminent on several occasions, but never really delivered.
I thought this role was a little different for Park Hae-jin, as neither smug, cold or cocky, although a stubborn and vengeful side came out when he felt both threatened and lacking in confidence. He played this really well.
The office environment contained the mix of people and irritations that many will be able to relate to, but loyalty is there too.
The music (mostly Trot) really suited the series and what it was about.
Not to be taken seriously, but enjoyed, which I did!

Overall a wonderful funny drama

The whole scenario of a complete office atmosphere was in this particular drama gives u something that really looks refreshing and a kind of total realistic office drama overall feeling in the end. Here the main attraction was the plot itself looks different that an old intern boss relationship ill-fated to old intern becomes boss and vise versa. Its so funny to see them because its very weird to work under his old intern who used to be like his slave before, but the whole drama is not just between them i mean its not a competitive kind of story line. There was friendship real employer employees relationships some romance and also the hardships of interns etc.

But again the main focus is on that lead characters namely ga yeol chan ( the old intern now the boss ) and lee man sic (old boss now intern). The screenplay was very interesting throughout each and every episodes because the narration is not that draggy and has lot of funny moments with it.

Am totally impressed with some factors especially Sometimes in most of the similar type dramas the story always depended on one particular character he with so many good things happening around him and glorify him like a complete man with no weak zones or what so ever, we often seen that in so many dramas with similar character but coming back to here its totally different because the whole characters has their own weak points also, and it showed in really sensible way, and also one factor that i felt refreshing was there is an unbelievable twist in the finale episodes it was totally unpredictable and at the same time really funny also for me because the way the whole situations leads to that particular twist was something kind of unpredictable and was very surprising and brilliantly executed

Finally Overall Kkondae intern decently narrarted with many enjoyable factor that makes this drama a worth watch. U should definitely give it try and i hope u won't regretted after watching it.

Just a little bit brilliant

Note: The first section of my review is spoiler-free, but the second half won't be.

It feels like comedy is a very precious resource this year. To me, at least, with everything going on in the world, Kkondae Intern was a brief but wild respite from the very long, unending quarantine and the stressors of working in essential services through the pandemic. I wanted to laugh away the day, and Kkondae Intern gave me that.

On the surface, the story is not very compelling, especially with the description we're given. KYC is a man who landed his first job after graduation, only to find himself working beneath a rigid superior whose poor treatment bogged him down until he one day quit and joined a rival company, where he climbed the ladder to a high position in the marketing department. It isn't until watching for ourselves that we know what exactly transpired then, and further in the story we get to see the seeds sowed in the past that led to that very important moment in KYC and LMS's lives.

Many people know what it's like to work under a boss who doesn't treat them well or who they simply don't get along with. A big part of the drama's appeal is the role reversal between KYC and LMS. After pulling himself up at another company, KYC is given the opportunity for revenge when LMS, his former boss, is hired on as a senior intern in his department. He takes full advantage of the opportunity which is both fun and hilarious to watch, but if that were the whole drama then there wouldn't be much fun to it after the first few episodes. Instead, Kkondae Intern uses their past as a starting point for one of the most unique and enjoyable friendships I've seen all year.

What I really appreciated, though, was how 3-dimensional the characters were. Nobody, between our two main characters or anyone on their team, or even most of the antagonists that worked against them throughout the story, are simply good or bad people. Everyone makes mistakes and sometimes they throw their colleagues under the bus. Sometimes they're selfish or overbearing. They say things out of jealousy or spite. But they're not bad people, not really. They have redeeming features, as well. This is shown best in KYC, who is at first framed as a better person than LMS but is actually petty and egotistical, and in LMS who plays our villain in the first episode of the series, but is generally not that bad of a guy. Further down the road, it's LMS who's sticking his neck out to protect his coworkers, and even KYC.

I do have some complaints, mostly minor, that I'll address. Below contains spoilers, fair warning!

There are some things with the storytelling that are a bit poorly done or badly written. An example off the top of my head is the backstory surrounding the oxbone soup recipe. I could have overlooked something, but from what I remember the restaurant owner's soup started tasting terrible, suddenly, and there wasn't really a reason given. Again, I may have missed something. I tended to watch episodes late at night before bed and there were instances where I was a bit distracted, but from what I remember it just suddenly stated that the soup tasted horrible, and even when LMS followed the recipe it still tasted bad. At some point, there was also a dog that just randomly went into cardiac arrest and needed CPR, which was silly and out of place. They just needed to gain someone's favour, so they shoved that in to quickly solve their problem and it showed.

As much as there were odd holes like that here and there, it didn't affect my enjoyment of the series. The pros outweigh the cons. There was a romance that ended with a proper rejection and there was no malice left afterwards, which was fantastic. It's a rare thing in dramas where a relationship doesn't work out, and rarer still that the parties involved are still on good terms afterwards. We need more of that. Each character had their time to shine, with the exception of a few members of the company, and there was great character growth.

But at the end of the day, Kkondae Intern is just a silly, ridiculous business comedy with a trot soundtrack that sounded refreshing compared to all of the pop in most dramas, and it did what it set out to do. I laughed, I smiled, I enjoyed every minute of it. Maybe you will, too.

A Marmite Kdrama

I rarely like office kdrama however I gave it a go bcz it's a short comedy drama (it's actually 12 eps not 24!)

It's a fun drama, I enjoyed every episode!
loved the characters especially the old guy Lee Man-sik!

however since ep 10 the drama confused me! I was like ??? did I skip some episodes? what's going on?? eh out of NOWHERE??? kinda reactions

since ep 10 I felt like they changed the director or maybe suddenly they were told to reduce the episodes.. it was rushed! but you know what? I liked it bcz sometimes I get tired of dragging details!

don't watch this if you're expecting romance, it's there but not the spotlight, actually the romance plot was quite interesting bcz it kept me thinking WHO'LL END WITH WHO lol (I'll discuss this in discussion, check if u want spoilers)

it dodge the cliché shots but at the same it missed a few bullets (no korean director can escape the cliché tropes it's ingrained the hallyu industry)

and that's why it's a Marmite kdrama! you either hate it or love it!

I love it so I recommend you to watch Kkondae Intern however don't take it seriously, enjoy with a light heart

A must-watch heartwarming comedy!

Where do I begin? I wanted to watch this drama ever since it was announced as I was intrigued by the blurb. It was so fresh and interesting! A comedy of errors, it seemed to me, and oh boy it was just that. Refreshing and amazing watch!
Everything was so perfect. The music? Oh yes. The Kkondae Latte song had me grooving like an ajhumma in the club with those stiff dance moves, didn't know I had it in me hahaha.
The acting? Perfect is all I can see. Especially our Kkondae orushin, he's too perfect. All his facial expressions are so top-notch, I just want to imitate him all the time. I end up looking like a clown though, but he is just perfect. Even the expressions of the President aka the Chairman's son are top-notch hahaha.
You will love everyone in this show. Perfect mix of comedy and emotions. I love how it shows that both the older and the younger generation are great in their own ways. Instead of critisizing one another, if we team up, learn from one another and understand each other, there is lots of achieve and lots of fun to have!
Perfect premise, perfect comedy and emotions, perfect acting and perfect music. What else can one want?
Go stream it on Netflix right away! :)
