Entertaining

I was a little nervous that this drama won't live up to the anticipation by its fan when it first aired. But after I'd finished
watching it, I agree with those who said that it was worth the wait.
For the first few episodes the female lead might irritate viewers who don't like childish character played by an adult actress. I've read more than a few comments who ditched the drama and criticized the actress because of this, but to me she was just playing her role. Stick with the drama and I think the FL will win you over. No complains regarding the ML, he's a complete package.
The love story is simple, but that is what makes it enjoyable. No heavy angst, prolong misunderstanding or that annoying pushing your loved one away for his/her own good that's so prevailing in Chinese drama. I also appreciate that the family relationship plays a big part in the drama too.

Loved it from start to finish. FYI only 29 episodes NOT 32!

Get tissues ready for the ending… just a fair warning! Last two episodes are tear jerkers but beautifully written and executed! This is a very realistic and heartwarming drama. Loved all of it.

Storyline - I could not find much fault with it. The only things I did not like was the FL would not let the ML explain anything. She always told him off and then ran away. I am glad that the break up was not drug out for to long and the parents were not to bad on not accepting their relationship. There was some but it was not overboard like most dramas are. Also, the love triangles were not bad either. My favorite part was the romance between the leads but also the father/daughter relationship. At first I thought it was going to be one of those where you have an over controlling father. But there are great surprises that make the relationship quit special.

Acting/Cast - I love Yang Zi! I first saw her in GO Go Squid and loved her in that one. She has become another actress that I enjoy watching. The cast was great.

Music - If you read my other reviews you will find I am a lover of music. When I first started watching this and listened to the instrumental music they played… I was in love! Again, as always, I will say… I pray I can find the OST on Amazon soon! It will be one I buy and listen to.

Rewatch - YES! Definitely! And I hope to buy it in the future. It is a great drama!

I love everything that Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan do in their acting career. The storyline was a perfect medical doctor and common girl romance. I can't say there was a competition between two women. Xiao Zhan's character knew what he wanted! I love when Yang Zi plays a character that is perky, that is just her! I loved the storyline. It is hard to lose someone you love to cancer. Been there and done that! I am so glad they didn't show the death of that character. The world is in a sad place already. There were no martial arts but that's okay this time. The actors/actresses who played the parents were astounding. All of the rest of the supporting actors/actresses played their parts well to tell this beautiful love story. I loved the visuals and there is one thing that I noticed... at the end I mean the very end where Xiao Zhan, Yang Zi's character was walking with their son, I remember my first Chinese Drama "Ashes of Love" the ending scene were similar. I will go back to watch that again for the 20th time.

DRAMA INI LAYAK DITUNGGU!

Saya baru saja menyelesaikan menonton drama ini kemarin! Drama ini gila! Bagaimana bisa mereka membuat pernikahan yang tampak nyata seperti itu? 😭 Ini adalah mertama kali saya menonton C-Drama dengan pernikahan yang tampak benar-benar diadakan dengan pengantin pria yang sangat tampan dan pengantin wanita yang sangat cantik! Saya bahkan tidak percaya bahwa beberapa adegan kecil adalah hasil improvisasi pemeran utamanya! Termasuk teater kecil di akhir setiap episode yang sangat saya sukai ❤. Saya bahkan menjadi ragu apakah ini hanya akting atau benar-benar nyata? 😭 TOOL seperti drama dokumentasi ❤

Juga saya menyukai ide tentang bagaimana pasangan Gu-Lin dapat menyelesaikan kesalahpahamannya dalam waktu singkat disaat kebanyakan drama akan menghabiskan tiga atau lebih episode untuk satu masalah. Ini membuat saya tidak bosan menontonnya, atau merasa kesal karena masalah yang tidak berkesudahan.

Gu Wei adalah kekasih/suami idaman semua wanita! Saya sangat menyukai bagaimana dia memperlakukan Lin ZhiXiao. Tetapi jangan lupakan fakta bahwa pria itu juga manusia biasa. Tidak ada orang yang benar-benar sempurna, begitu pula, Gu Wei. Dia mungkin gagal menjadi pacar, tetapi dia berhasil menjadi teman, kakak, kekasih, suami dan ayah yang baik untuk keluarga kecilnya. Ah, dia juga menantu yang baik untuk mertuanya. Saya menyukai jawaban tegas yang diberikan Gu Wei pada Lin Laoshi. Pertemuan pertama memang gagal, tetapi pertemuan kedua ini sangat sangat berhasil! Gu Wei, selamat anda berhasil membuat saya dan bahkan mungkin semua penonton merasa iri dengan Lin ZhiXiao sama persis seperti harapanmu di lagu penutup TOOL 😭. Saya juga ingin mencari Gu Wei saya!!

Dan gadis kecil Pak Lin, Lin ZhiXiao. Dia mungkin gadis yang masih labil dan terlihat kekanakan, tetapi berusaha untuk memahami Gu Wei. Sepertinya banyak yang membenci karakter LZX pada episode-episode akhir karena sifatnya yang kejam, termasuk saya 🤣, tetapi saya tidak bisa membencinya😭 (Sepertinya karena saya sudah menyukai LZX sejak membaca novelnya) Entah itu LZX dalam novel atau drama, saya tetap menyukai keduanya! ❤ Terlebih lagi, beberapa sikap LZX sangat relate dengan kehidupan sehari-hari! Dan LZX juga sama seperti Gu Wei dan kami semua. Dia juga manusia biasa yang tidak sempurna. Saya juga tidak mengerti apa tujuan penulis skrip mengubah karakter LZX begitu besar 😭. Saya pernah membaca sebuah tweet yang sangat manis tentang ini, izinkan saya mengutipnya. "Jika LZX memiliki 100 ribu penggemar, saya adalah salah satunya. Akhirnya GW dan LZX berhasil melewati rintangan dalam kisah mereka. Membuat hubungan keduanya semakin erat dan bermakna. 💐

Saya tidak mengerti dengan ulasan yang memberikan bintang rendah di sini. Tetapi saya mengerti, setiap orang memiliki selera yang berbeda. Tapi, jika alasannya karena beberapa isu yang saya dengar dan baca dari media, itu sangat memalukan! Anda tidak bisa mengotori penilaian karya seni seperti itu. Anda bahkan tidak boleh menjadi pengamat dan penilai karya seni, jika memiliki sifat seperti itu.

Ini adalah drama modern pertama yang saya nanti-nanti sejak 3 tahun yang lalu. Sebenarnya, saya pribadi yang lebih menyukai drama kolosal daripada modern, tetapi entah mengapa drama Sumpah Cinta ini memang sangat berbeda (saya sudah tertarik ketika melihat trailer pertamanya). Saya juga membaca versi novel dari drama ini. Menurut saya versi novelnya memang sangat sederhana, jika anda membacanya, anda akan merasa seperti membaca sebuah diary. Sangat menarik tetapi juga sangat sederhana. Berbeda dengan drama yang dibuat lebih berwarna. Tentu saja! Jika dalam drama di buat sama seperti novel, kurasa tidak akan menarik. Anda akan bosan dengan drama yang terlalu sederhana. Itu sebabnya saya sangat mengapresiasi perubahan dalam naskah drama ini. Sangat luar biasa!

Anda tidak akan menyesal ketika mencoba untuk menonton drama ini! Saya katakan dengan jujur, pada ep 1/2 saya benar-benar menangis karena merasakan apa yang FL rasakan. Cerita kehidupannya sangat relevan dengan kehidupan banyak orang! Pada scene romantis ML dan FL, anda juga akan benar-benar merasa bahagia!

Jangan lupakan soundtrack musiknya! Ketika saya mendengar lagu pembuka dan penutup, itu seperti musik disney. Easy listening ❤

Xiao Zhan dan Yang Zi sangat berhasil membawakan karakter Gu Wei dan Lin ZhiXiao! Tentu juga semua aktor, aktris, sutradara dan kru yang terlibat. Mereka semua luar biasa! Chemistry keduanya sangat natural. Saya berharap dapat melihat XZ dan YZ berkolaborasi lagi dalam drama atau film yang lain! ❤💜

Mungkin kekurangan dalam drama ini hanya 1. Penulis naskah atau siapapun itu kurang detail dalam menampilkan profesi kedua tokoh utama. (Gu Wei sebagai Dokter dan Lin ZhiXiao sebagai Cellist)

Untuk overall, drama ini sangat sangat menarik dan tidak membosankan! Semoga ulasan ini membantu teman-teman yang ragu karena beberapa ulasan dan bintang yang rendah.

Fluffy, sweet, cookie cutter rom-com

Oath of Love is a perfectly watchable rom-com that is sweet and angst lite. If you are a fan of the stars or looking for just such a harmless rom-com then this is a must watch.

Otherwise, the plot is back-of-a-napkin stuff. Bubbly college student fell in love with older, handsome surgeon who happens to save her father’s life. The rest are cookie cutter fillers. Don’t get me wrong, the show is well made and enjoyable. The chemistry is decent with a good amount of skinship that looked natural and not staged. The main plot is tropey and the pace is relaxed. There is a bit of love triangles, a bit of angst, a bit of drama but it is all there to take up a bit of time. Nothing really gets in the way of the romance. There is little to allow this to stand out from the pack.

I do appreciate that the ML is devoted to the FL from the start and totally supportive but sometimes he leans too much into the stoic doctor trope. The FL acted well and displayed her usual range of emotions (there is no shortage of tears). It is just very similar to her other modern rom-com roles. I do worry about over exposure of this young star.

There are two other CP’s. They are interesting up to a point but they both got sidelined. They still managed to have a HEA ending. The show is really doing a Oprah Winfrey.

The bulk of the support cast are from central casting. They did their jobs well enough.

There are two things that I really liked and really disliked about this show. The thing I really liked is how the show handled the FL’s father’s situation towards the end of the show. It was sentimental but it was handled with a deft hand. You can feel the love and how they are all trying to create some beautiful memories. The plot devices used are not new, but it was done well. I appreciate it more consider how prickly the father has been.

The thing I disliked the most was the FL’s “attempt” to be a cello player of the highest standard. OMG, it was embarrassing. Just about every aspect of that is off. From her approach to practise, her scenes playing the cello and her “performances”. Anyone with some knowledge of classical string instruments will cringe. I know it is unrealistic to assume every actor will do lots of preparation for a “technical” role but they can do better when faking it. BTW, Park Eun-bin actually learnt the violin for her role in Do You Like Brahms, just saying. ;)

OST was nice but the main theme was a bit overused. I can rewatch this show but it will be a background task because there is not a lot of plot that needs my full attention.

P.S. On a personal note, I start watching this show when it first premiered but by the 2/3 mark, I lost interest and put it on hold. I final binged the rest of the show after a hiatus of many weeks. I’m glad that I finished it. This did present me with a dilemma when it comes to rating it. On one hand, I stopped because the show was a bit draggy, tropey and samey up to that point. However, the show did get better towards the end so I have to give it its due.

Heartwarming

One word describe this drama - heartwarming. A love story between couples and heartwarming story about family. I enjoyed it so much. I don't like saying goodbye to a nice, heartwarming drama like this one. The bickering between father and daughter is so common. When it comes to illness of a family member can be sad but it can be one good reason to bring back one family together and heal the broken-hearted and the anger inside. I cried a little bit by the last episode. Well, it's quite a sad moment. It's still a pretty nice drama with a beautiful ending for sure. If you haven't watch, then you should.

A Medical Romance Gem: Exploring the Layers of 'Oath of Love'

I would say that Oath of Love is better than the average romance drama. It is realistic and a good reflection of how life, and real relaitonships should be. The ennding is very bittersweet, and I love Lin ZhiXiao's parents, mainly the Dad more lol. I feel like they were an important part of the story with many emotional moments. XiaoZhan pulled off his role so well. Eventhough I typically don't enjoy romance focused drama I quite enjoyed this! The medical themes were also intresting and really adds to it, and I liked the focus of family love too! The OSTs were one of the best features, espiclaly because it's between YangZi and XiaoZHan. Now, at times I found both Lin ZhiXiao and Gu Wei very annoying, and very immature. ZhiXiao's friends were kinda eh, as they encouraged her to stupid behaviour, and I just really don't like them. Overall, it's a pretty good drama with its shortcomings, but as I said I'm not a fan of romance driven dramas.

Leads convey subtle emotions very naturally.

Romantic comedy that has a nice balance of scenes and characters that are funny and sad, light and serious, clinical and emotional. The attractive leads Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan are well matched as Lin Zhixiao and Gu Wei. There’s lots of chemistry between them from their chaotic first encounters and bumpy beginnings until they gradually fall in love. Both are excellent actors who convey subtle emotions very naturally. They have beautifully expressive eyes that are captivating and mesmerizing. The plot is clever and entertaining from the get-go. The flirting game between Gu Xiao (Zhai Zi Lu) and San San (Daisy Li) made for a playful sub-plot. Fine acting all round by the supporting cast. Plus this drama has a beautiful musical score and opening and ending theme songs by Yang Zi and Xiao Zhan. Bonus: When not in scrubs Dr Gu sports some great fashion wear, and there are 30+ kisses that won’t disappoint romance fans.

Cdrama that got me hooked on CDRAMAS

great drama, amazing cast! really great and touching story! the romance is on point, the family plot is also great, really allows you to watch and think about life and treasure your family!! although theres like a little bit of third party its not toxic or annoying! overall a good watch (although i cried a lot)! i think if you are looking for a drama to watch you should watch this it's a great starter show

the side characters are also good! liked the character development of of the SML! the FL also made me love yangzi alot! i think it's pretty cool that she played the cello in the drama and was a university student!

One of the heartwarming drama

I enjoy watch this drama because the story quite relate with my condition. I have a dad that diagnosed with cancer too. Family support is everything for a cancer survivor.

I think Lin Zhi Xiao character is quite good enough, she's tough and have self esteem.

Gu Wei also a nice character, he also have a flaw as a doctor made him more realistic.

The story quite good too even some part seems like the other chinese drama typical. But overall i still manage to watch this drama till the end.

Love the OST that sing by Xiao Zhan, i put it in my playlist too.

Most Anticipated Drama since 3 years ago

Finally we're able to watch the most anticipated drama of Xiao Zhan since 3 years ago.

The story is really heartwarming that did not only focus on their romance but also the relationship of the family and friends.
The chemistry of Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi are really good and sweet. Loving on how the mature Gu Wei leads young Xiao Xiao and support her dreams.
The story of Mr. Lin and how he loves his daughter is really heartwarming and will make us shed a tear.

All the actors are great and shout out to Zhai Zi Lu too, love him since Lucky's First Love era.


The OST are really great. Even though there are only 3 OST but all of them are sung by our main leads, Xiao Zhan and Yang Zi. Both with solo song and the other one is the duet for the opening OST, really beautiful.

Some flaws here & there but still very good!

About like, it's definitely ACTING!!! I felt connected to Zhixiao, her family & Gu Wei. It was very natural, many times heartwarming! The leads have good chemistry, plenty of kisses & warm hugs.

The starting itself got me. How the father daughter quarreled but when 3rd person involved, they immediately joined hands to argue. Also, the initial hospitals scenes are very funny.

The child Qiuqiu, such a sweet little cupid!

What I didn't like :-
Gu Wei not explaining to Gao Xi initially. He only avoided her and she kept pushing Zhixiao. While doing stitches to Zhixiao he explained her but instead, it would have been good if he clearly rejected Gao Xi beforehand.
Unnecessary drama could have been avoided.

Sansan & Gu Xiao had quite long scenes in 1st half & I skipped most of them.
