Both movies are slow-burn and atmospheric stories about female office workers who are unsatisfied about their current lives and dream of escaping the confines of their mundane and dull routines. Not only are both movies excellent at conveying a sense of melancholy, depression, and loneliness through cinematography and dialogue (rather than through grand plot developments), they also show the real gendered experience (and misogyny) of corporate culture.

Both films are about sad people finding comfort in eachother. They feature the relationship between a young man working odd jobs to scrape by a living and an older female who is a little better off. Both stories are told in a very slow but very interesting way. They have the same vibes.

Both pieces focus on slow quiet and dull lives where one finds meaning in another. My liberation notes is a show and hence at a slower pace than the movie Vertigo. Very similar in that the main characters don't talk too much, relatively quiet, and find comfort in each other. Both female leads are sad and hate their dull lives.

The way these movies were recorded is quite similar to each other. Watching them you feel as if you are next to the characters. You feel what they feel. You would like to react to their suffering or go away to try not to listen to their private conversations (as you feel when you watch Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy).
