Éperdument optimiste et joyeuse, Lin Xiao Xi est une femme comblée. Installée sur une île paisible, Xioa Xi a tout pour être heureuse : un foyer, un studio de photographie reconnu qu'elle dirige et le meilleur ami du monde, Han Bing. Seule zone d'ombre : le combat qu'elle doit mener contre son poids. Bien en chair, Xiao Xi a essayé de perdre quelques kilos par le passé, mais ses efforts n'ont jamais vraiment abouti. Cela ne l'empêche pas pour autant de réessayer depuis l'arrivée du sublime Huang Ke dans sa vie. Motivée, Xiao Xi redouble d'efforts pour maigrir, mais c'est encore une fois un échec. Sur le point d'abandonner, Xiao Xi tombe sur une potion magique qui lui permet de perdre du poids. Sans hésiter, elle la prend et se transforme comme par magie en une version beaucoup plus mince d'elle-même. Se faisant appeler Alice, Xiao Xi rassemble tout son courage pour approcher Huang Ke. Intrigué par cette jolie inconnue, Huang Ke fait les yeux doux à Alice, mais ses efforts pour mieux la connaître sont constamment contrariés par la jalousie d'Han Bing. Partagée entre son meilleur ami et le garçon qui l'a fait craquer depuis toujours, Xiao XI se retrouve dans une situation surprenante et difficile alors qu'elle essaie de percer les mystères de son propre cœur. Honest review on this movie
*no major spoilers*When I first saw the trailer of Oversize Love, it looked very interesting but after watching the movie, I was disappointed. First off, I felt that the movie was rushed in a way that the story plot was not set up smoothly and I didn’t really feel chemistry between the actors. I would like to also mention that I think it would have been better to be a drama instead of a movie which would produce a better story plot and help build the chemistry between the actors. Also, the title of this movie is alright and would have liked it to be witty because the movie incorporated some aspects of the movie “Alice in Wonderland” which could have produced a connected concept. With that, I don’t think I would rewatch this movie but would be interested if there would be a Chinese drama with a similar concept. So my overall rating of this movies is 5/10.
Good premise & cast with many BUTS (disappointed)
The setup of overweight FL and her long time friend, ironically ML was real chubby when young n FL stood by him. Throw in Madhatter from Alice in wonderland and a potion that instead of growing tall/shrink is a magical slimming potion. All this is going really well until the 'BUT' starts:The leads have a good chemi but the story isnt exploring it in the right way. I want to enjoy their friendship and their blurry feelings for each other. Instead theres so much wasted footage on unimportant things.
SML is also a character that wasnt likeable. His personality is the opposite of his appearance. I get annoyed when he constantly fat shame bigger sized women. I did not enjoy them and also felt Xiao Xi wasted too much time on him.
Given that the leads wasted so much time. I thought the make-up would be good. I didnt mind the comedy bits here. Except the way it was wrapped up was very disappointing. I am left wanting, wanting a rewarding couple moment of Xiao Xi and Han Bin.
The appearance of the movie promises a sweet romance between 2 friends but it never delivers on that promise. And its a shame cause the actors were great but the plot and direction went awry.
