My Country is a lot more of a tragedy, however, there were similar plot points such as a gisaeng house that is *more* than it appears (spies/assassins), a fight for the throne and I think that Nokdu and Hwi (main character in My Country) were very similar characters. Also Woo Do Hwan as Seon Ho (in My Country) is literally INCREDIBLE, so I would recommend this drama based on his performance alone anyway.

Both The Crowned Clown and My Country: the New Age are sageuks with incredible acting, beautiful cinematography and great soundtrack. While the stories aren’t very alike and they’re set a few centuries appart, some of the characters reminded me of each other. Both Hwi and Ha Seon, the male leads in the shows, are lower class and don’t seem to have much ambition to gain a lot of power at the begining of the show, but they’re still smart and it shows. They just want to make sure their families have food on the table and are safe. Both MLs are outgoings and kind and have protecting the people they care about as their number one priority, whatever it takes, even if it cost them their lives. They especially love and care for their little sisters. Officer Jang also reminded me of Sung-rok, both are skilled fighters that look stoic and cold, but are way too loyal for their own good. Also, both shows feature a lot of struggle for power and the throne, and there’s much scheming involved.

The timeline in history is similar, as the characters in My Country lived in the same era as Queen Seon Duk, especially Yi Bang Won. Although Queen Seon Duk is a bit long, I'm sure you will enjoy it too!

If you liked Jang Hyuk as Lee Bang Won and want more - try this.

one is tv series, another movie, in both Jang Hyuk plays Lee Bang Won and is amazing. Of course same time period and historical events.

in both except for Jang Hyuk/Lee Bang Won there are 2 male leads (in tv series Jang Hyuk isn't listed as main lead, but he is quite main character and star of the show, though not only star because 2 young leads are also amazing and bromance is best ever)

If you like Bromance based drama ,, This one is exactly what you're looking for ,, it has every element of spectacular relationships

Both are intense political action thrillers that take place in the context of an internal conflict. Both focus on a core group of characters, some of whom have complicated relationships with one another. There is a bromance that becomes complicated, and the characters struggle to survive. The fight scenes are intense and frequent, and the setting is gritty and depicts the lower classes as well. Both are dark stories in which the characters are constantly being challenged, both physically and morally, and the main character is forced to become a leader of a ragtag bunch of misfits.

They both has this country saving mood and also they somehow create similar feels. Both has good friends having different ways on their journey, though Gaksital is less focused on that

So far it seems like the transition and shift of dynasty similar to 6 Dragons especially with the mention of Yi Bangwon/Lee Bangwon (Jang Hyuk hyung). Hence I find Seo Hwi similar to Lee Bang-ji & Nam Sun Ho similar to Moo Hyul of of Six Dragons, respectively.

Both of them have that same “fighting for” a certain definition of “my country” and what’s most important to them individually
Recommandé par XingBack
They are both set in the early Joseon period. Both have large scale battles with a lot of violence and blood and with multiple heirs to the throne. Both have some kind of ''intervals'' inbetween that are usually followed again by intense and action packed scenes , and also thriller in Joseon's Exorcist case. Joseon Exorcist takes place after Prince Bang Won ascends to the throne, whereas in My country he is still fighting for the throne, meaning that one could say that in My country:The New Age could be considered a prequel, to some extent.

Both are historical dramas formed around the theme of two friends fighting one another during a period of political change. These two former friends also have their eyes set on the same woman.

If you can't get enough of Jang Hyuk in My Country, then Chuno is your most obvious next destination. He has several other sageuk under his belt, but Chuno has been the best of them. Enjoy!
Recommandé par Tae Ho
Every episode in these two series are like watching movies. Filmed beautifully, complex characters, strong competent leads. There is fighting, romance, drama. High quality dramas.
