Charming and sweet romance
Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil are a charming pair. The pair perform better here than their slightly problematic "Just the Way You Are" though they're still relatively green here. However, they easily coast through the movie on their undeniable chemistry. It's no surprise that these two are a couple in real life. Gerald Anderson has a stand-out performance, despite being in a coma for the majority of the movie. The story and characterization feel weak at times in the movie. We're told a lot of details about the characters but not shown. Enrique's character in particular is not fully fleshed out. I think the film shined in its portrayal of Audrey's (Soberano) and Tristan's (Anderson) relationship. Some of their scenes towards the latter half were definite stand-outs.
Overall, this film was not my favorite from the Liza-Enrique pair. However, it's still worth a watch for fans as are all of their films. Their performances in "My Ex and Whys" were quite good, though the story was a bit iffy for me. "Alone Together" is their best film to date and would recommend it to anyone.

Dare to Fulfill Your Dreams!
There is only one person who stands in the way of fulfilling your dreams: you. Anyone who tries to be an obstacle to your dreams is probably not someone you'd want to be in a relationship with. The person you do want to be in a relationship with is someone who believes in you; not only will they not stand in your way, they'll encourage and empower you to do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true.Ethan is a young, hot-shot producer of shows. He's eagerly awaiting a promotion to production manager, that he feels that he's entitled to and has earned. However, to his disappointment, the job is given to someone else. He's told that the one area he's not very good with, is working with people. He's sent to Bacolod, a small town where he's told that if he can produce a successful show, then he will get the production manager job.
Audrey is a warm, caring young woman who dreams of making shows. She uses her small video camera to record everything for her boyfriend, Tristan, who has been comatose from an accident for over 150 days.
We learn that before the accident Audrey had a chance to go to Manila to learn about making shows. Tristan, of course, objected. In fact, we quickly find out that Tristan is a very controlling boyfriend who spends much of his time telling Audrey, "what to do" and "what not to do." However, it is clear that Audrey loves him...until she sees love for what it truly is!
Love is never about control. It is never about possession. It is about giving the other person the freedom and the space to be who they are. Ethan shows Audrey this type of love. Audrey, of course, is torn between her newfound love for Ethan and being true to Tristan.
Now, one might think that things become a bit cliched at this point, but that doesn't really happen. What makes this story work so well is that Ethan demonstrates and unconditional and selfless character who will simply do the mature thing; the right thing. They say that love conquers all. Well, Ethan is certainly an example of this.
There are a number of touching moments throughout the film, and I love the fact that Tristan is shown as being a "bad" guy. He's not. Despite his ignorance, it's hard not to sympathize with him.
The performances are all first-rate, and you end up feeling good about having watched this film. While many people believe that love is about being true to your partner, it's even more important to be true to yourself. And never let anyone or anything stand in the way of your dreams!

Real Love is Letting Your Girl Pursue Her Dreams
I watched this in 2015 but I never really appreciated this movie until now. Also, watching this in 2024 feels oddly satisfying. I feel like the real relationship of LizQuen is closest to this fictional couple among all the couples they played (second being the couple from Alone Together) as I get the impression that Liza and Enrique are both passionate in filmmaking and making shows and Enrique is selfless in how he loves Liza. They have good chemistry in all their movies, but the chemitry here is just really amazing. The way Enrique looks and speaks to Liza! Both Enrique and Liza portrayed their characters really well. I really enjoyed the love story, glad the girl Audrey chose someone (Ethan) who lets her be who she wants to be and dream what she wanted to do rather than someone who wants her to change. Wih Liza's hollywood career and both her and Enrique insisting they never broke up, I feel like Enrique's love to Liza is similar to the way Ethan loves Audrey in this movie, he encourages the girl to make her dreams come true and loves her for her true self. Plus he's willing to sacrifice his happiness just for the sake of her own. That's true love!It may seem to some people that Audrey is cheating on Tristan (played by Gerald Anderson) with Ethan here, but I totally understand why she would fall for Ethan, Tristan was a really toxic boyfriend who wants Audrey to change for him and does not love her for who she is (unlike Ethan).
