2-Storyline/Plot : As the title say; this is an idol film about kpop groups and the struggle they have to go through in order to move from scratch to the top.
There were many good hard working moments and a very boring romance.
Overall, it wasn't that interesting or that boring.
3-Acting/Cast : Okay let me say this: I really dislike Park Ye Jin no matter what type of character she leads; here she was good as an actress but the character was annoyingly stiff.
On the other hand, I liked Ji Hyun Woo as an actor but he wasn't that special as a character.
Other actors and characters were really good especially the boys from the group.
4-Music : The strength point of this film was the music; "Summer Dream" was a great song that I still remember till now.
5-Rewatch value : It could've be rewatchable for some people who deeply fell for it.
6-The ending : It wasn't a bad ending but it was really predictable and cliche.
7-Overall : This film had too much potential to make it perfect as an idol story but the writers took the wrong turn while delivering it; it wasn't bad but I still feel like there's something missing.
P.S : If you're idol dramas/films lover than you may actually love this.

It can seem the most ordinary 'follow your dream' plot, but it's not, it somehow made me wonder 'Hey, these 4 guys are grown up people and more or less are on their own feet in this world (not in music industry), how come they still want to dance, jump on the stage and compete with youngsters?' And then, while watching the parts when they were visiting hospitals and schools... it hit me... why not? Is there a childish dream in the world? (look who's talking...haha~) Seeing their passion and strive for their dream, made my eyes tear...
Music is very sweet and heartwarming, very fitting to the mood of the movie, both songs "Summer Dream" and "Unfinished Song" (especially the latter) are brilliant songs.
All through the movie, I was thinking: "I like this, though it's a little simple, maybe 7... yes, 7"... then the last scene bought me wholly... The sweetest scene EVER! You should watch to be able to understand my unstopping tears at that moment...

Mr. Idol had the potential to become a masterpiece but in my opinion it could have used better music, I cannot say that the song wasn't nice, it was nice and all, but I felt that this being an idol movie there should have been more powerful songs, I know that the idols were starting again, well all of them but Yoo Jin, and the story was cute, but my problem was the music.
The pace of the film was alright, not too fast and too slow. Ji Hyun Woo's acting was really nice, I want to watch more from him, but what annoyed me a litte was the female lead's acting, her expression kinda bored me, like Yoo Jin said, she always had a pokerfaced expression on her and even when Yoo Jin worried her expression still never changed, it was a little too stiff. Ji Hyun Woo's acting was cool though.
I would rewatch it some time if I needed something light hearted, the pace wasn't bad so I'm cool with it. Overall a 7 because it wasn't AS GREAT as the posters made it seem, but it wasn't that bad after all

I really liked the story. I really liked the subtle humor. I found the band's journey inspiring as they faced all these hardships to make it the spotlight. Some things i didn't like was that they could have written more for the other 3 guys in the band. They all had stories but they were only briefly touched upon. I'm not really clear if there was a romance between the PD lady and the singer of the band cause there were only a few certain scenes that kind of pointed in that direction but then they would cut to something else and the ending was confusing too.
The acting was alright. The actress that plays the PD didn't have all that much to do to portray her robotic character seeing how this is how she acts in her other roles ive seen her in. The main singer guy made his character believable cause hes actually a really good singer but his acting isn't anything special. The other 3 guys in the band had very few lines so its hard to judge them.
The OST was really good. I might add the songs to my ipod. That "summer dream" song is really catchy cause they play it every 5 minutes it seems.
I'd rewatch this one but not right away.
Overall Mr. Idol is a fun watch but better casting could have made it even more enjoyable.

...Because "Summer dream"....
A very cliché and unoriginal movie but it was an okay watch. I think it would have been better if they had made it into a drama. That way they could have made it more original with some more depth and development. The characters were hallow and didn't really have a purpose or back story. No visible development in personalities or relationships even though it was necessary to make the story believable. All in all the watcher is basically just scraping off the surface.
As for the tags, I wouldn't press too much on the comedy part. It's not a sad movie or anything, it's just not funny.
I skipped the last 20 minutes of the movie because it was the climax and it had them play the title song for the movie AGAIN. Had they not played the same song for 1 h and 40 mins already, I would have watched it.
It's definitely a music movie but I think they should have extended the soundtrack a bit because as a viewer I got extremely bored of it extremely fast.
The acting was not bad. Although none of the characters had facial expressions it wasn't something that bothered me. For all the Jay Park fans out there, although he had a supporting role, he did a good job for someone who doesn't usually act.
I recommend this movie to people who want something a bit more serious but not too deep or emotional. If your feelings are easily moved then maybe this will be enough stimulation for you. If you're a fan of old school K- pop groups I think you wont get tired of the soundtrack and you might enjoy the show.
ENJOY!!

Is it bad that I clicked on this because I seen Jay Park though? Haha He was such a baby in this movie. Is there anything he can't do though? He acts, sings, raps, dances, steals your woman - oof. Haha Kidding on that last part.... or am I? Dun dun dunnnnn XD Honestly I felt like this movie somewhat fit part of his life story. Fans will know what I'm talking about.
Okay back onto the movie, there really isn't much to say about it because it wasn't bad but it wasn't... good per-say. I really liked that it told the story about what groups really do go through (even though that was NOT the movies intention). The cast was really amazing and most of the time I forgot it was actually a movie and not a documentary. X_X
The thing is the movie was so choppy. The storyline itself had a lot of gaps and took you for a ride of trying to figure out what the hell was happening. I can't even talk about the end because I sat there the whole ending like: "Uhhh what's happening?" Also there were a lot of times certain characters popped up and you have no idea who they are even though they are supposed to be important to the story. It was a mess. It was a hella mess but I can't rate this any less than 9 stars. No I'm not bias I love the story it told even if it wasn't meant to be the actual story. Lol
Also please know if you watch this there should be a trigger warning of suicide. Which again, plays a huge roll in what Kpop singers and groups go through. It's heart shattering.
