Great Drama - But did not need 20+ eps
I only watched this drama so I can watch season 2 but I found myself falling in love with the characters. I loved how real the medical aspects of this drama were. They were very detailed and kept me interested, even made me wish to be a doctor haha. I got attached to all the characters and love the messages of this drama. But I feel like this drama could’ve easily been 16 eps. Some parts were dragged on and others were unnecessary or repetitive. The majority of this drama was watching them operate/help patients which is expected from a medical drama of course and a lot of those scenes were still interesting, but i feel like there was so many of them they almost acted as fillers and added nothing to the overall storyline? making the drama 16 eps wouldve been perfect because i couldnt enjoy the drama fully and had to do a lot of skipping. If i wasn’t watching it for season 2 i probably wouldn’t have finished it. nevertheless i still really enjoyed this show and loved master kim’s acting.Cet avis était-il utile?

I loved the way every episode name is also described through sketch. It was unique.
Every character in this drama is special. Specially Kim sabu. He is the coolest person in this drama. The way he handles every situation is really amazing.
The main leads are so cute. Loved their interactions. Yoo Yeon Seok, oh my my... He just took my heart. That's all I can say.
The way they treat the patient is really exciting. I am not from medical sector. But each the medical cases they handle make me interested in them.
This was the first medical drama that I finished and has become one of my favorite drama.
I watched this drama recently and fell in love to the extend that I immediately started the second season right after I finished the first one.

My fav medical drama
Dr romantic is my first and my fav medical drama. I didn't like the first episode that much but got hooked up in the 2nd episode...This is just not a drama for me but an emotionCasting is perfect with Han Suk Kyu being Kim Sabu and also I became a fan of Yoo Yeon Seok and Seo Hyun Jin after watching this .. I was really disappointed when the main cast got replaced in s2 ( having many difficulties in completing s2 ... Maybe because the cast and vibes of the drama is totally different than season 1 and also s2 has lots of politics going on than S1 )
Some medical cases brought tears into my eyes and loved how they portrayed those situations
Though the romance was not much there in the drama and it didn't affect me that much because all the medical cases and the chemistry between all the characters outweighed the romance
The character development of Kang Dong Ju was very good...how he started off as a jerk and ended up as an honest doctor at the end
The relationship development between Kang Dong Ju and Kim Sabu was also very good to watch...I still remember how they fought at the beginning and caring for each other at the end
I will definitely re-watch this drama soon ...well actually am planning to do so

Crappy soap opera disguised as a medical drama
If you are looking for a medical drama showcasing professional ethics, you won't find it here. The so-called doctors act like hoodlums constantly yelling in front of patients and purposely setting each other up to fail. Instead of writing a story about complex medical issues, the writers proceed to bore us with a trashy soap opera and hospital politics filled with juvenile bickering and medical malpractice. There is also no plot. The show just moves along from one medical emergency to another without a central idea tying everything together. The characters are shallow and unlikable, focused too much on their interpersonal relationships instead of doing their job as doctors, and, there is hardly any romance. Do In Bum could've been interesting, but he is just a prop with no purpose or a personality. The writers do attempt to utilize cliches but they go nowhere. The reason behind Yoon Seo Jung's silly trauma is incredibly asinine and feels like a half-assed attempt to manufacture tension that is pretty much forgotten in later episodes. And, the love rectangle between the main couple, Im Bum, and Woo Yeon Hwa fizzles out as soon as it starts. The villain is a cookie cutter bad guy with shallow motivations and no coherent reason for any of his actions. He mindlessly tries to destroy Master Kim's career because of some medical mishap over a decade ago and behaves like a petulant child rather than an experienced medical professional in charge of a hospital. Moreover, he has an absurd amount of power for a hospital director who is somehow able to influence the military, press, politicians, and pretty much everyone around him without any explanation why.
I don't understand all of the positive reviews. The show is a marathon of trashy melodrama with no plot or interesting characters. Pass.

NOT YOUR TYPICAL MEDICAL DRAMA, A GREAT WATCH FROM START TO FINISH
This drama sat in my watchlist for a year. Did not know what the hype was about and did not care, as I am not into medical dramas until I ran out of shows to watch this year. Clicked on it to see if the first episode was interesting enough, and OH MY GOODNESS! This drama is so good, it hit the ground on Episode 1 and kept moving with a strong pace, great acting and medical cases which has a rather different take.I liked how everything centered around Teacher Kim (Han Seok Kyu) who is highly experienced, steadfast and passionate doctor who was framed for a case not of his doing and left a top medical hospital in Seoul to the countryside Doldam Hospital. There he keeps a really low profile and goes on with his work as Head Surgeon until one by one, doctors like Dr. Yoon Seo Jung (Seo Hyun Jin), Dr. Kang Dong Joo (Yoo Yeon Seok) and Dr. Do Im Bum (Yang Se Jong) somehow through different circumstances land to work in Doldam. Each arrives with own problems, insecurities and arrogance, but Teacher Kim is no pushover, and whips them up one by one, in his own quirky way but with much care and passion.
There is no such thing as a doctor's triple board certification, the way Doldam Hospital is managed with so much doctor's free will, with comings and goings and the medical cases may appear far fetched, but the dramatical effect is worth the effort and really entertaining. The drama was so well written and directed. The love story between Dr. Yoon and Dr. Kang played subtly in the background was well placed. And Dr. Do (Yang Se Jong) was my eye candy, so cool, handsome and good in his role.
20 episodes went by so fast for me, I just could not get enough of this really remarkable drama ........ oh, I see there is a Dr. Romantic 2!!!

*Warning the last paragraph contains spoilers/plot holes*This is one of the only medical dramas I managed to finish- I dropped 'Emergency Couple' and skipped through episode of 'The Doctors.'
The plot is very interesting and action packed. This drama focuses very little on romance, despite its title. There is a lot to learn from this drama in terms of medical things. I've definitely learned a lot more about hospital life from watching this drama.
Acting was superb from everyone. No OST from what I can remember, mostly instrumental music.
-Spoilers-
There are many plot holes/unanswered questions.
Firstly what the heck happened to Do In Bum and Yeon Hwa? Did they confess to their crush or what?? What about the love triangle with Yeon Hwa, Nurse Park and Kang Dong Joo?
Did director Do remain as director?
What happened to teacher kim trauma project?
What was chairman hiding from teacher kim? why didn't he tell teacher kim after his surgery?
What is going on between that nurse from the main hospital and yoon seo joon ex from 5 years ago? Is the nurse babys father her ex?
Apologies if these were all answered in season 2, I haven't watched it yet~

A Heartfelt and Thrilling Korean Medical Drama that Leaves a Lasting Impact!
"Dr. Romantic" had me completely enthralled right from the beginning. As I delved into this Korean medical drama, I couldn't help but be drawn into the life of "Dr. Romantic," a mysterious and brilliant surgeon. Watching him mentor two young doctors in a rural hospital, I was captivated by the intricate character development and the heartfelt performances by the cast. The medical cases, personal struggles, and moral dilemmas kept me on the edge of my seat, making me emotionally invested in every aspect of the story. "Dr. Romantic" beautifully explores the themes of dedication, compassion, and the complexities of human nature, leaving a lasting impact on my heart. This drama is an absolute must-watch, offering both a thrilling and thought-provoking experience that I'll cherish for a long time.Cet avis était-il utile?
