Ryusuke Minami is a talented guitarist from the United States who has returned to Japan and is anxious to form a band. He meets Koyuki, a high-school teenager, during an altercation in a back alley. Together with a few other talented musicians, Ryusuke and Koyuki try to form a 5-person rock band named "BECK" but things are not as easy as it seems. Will they succeed?

Kisara Hanae, a girl who retired from karate due to an accidental injury and was at the lowest point of her life. She meets Ashida Haruki, the songwriter of a song she used to listen to before every match. But he is now a failed musician, a one-hit wonder, and a weirdo with a lot of problems! Hanae's childhood friend, Natsukawa Shingo, who is always watching over her gets involved and a love triangle develops. Hanae has a "secret" that she can't tell anyone, and decides that "this is the last love of her life".
Kohei Kamishiro (Masaharu Fukuyama) worked as a musician in his past. He only had one hit song and his recording contract was eventually cancelled. He became devastated and left the field of music. Twenty years later, Kohei Kamishiro keeps his distance from music, but his passion for music hasn't faded away. He leads a boring life. Due to his past experience, he finds it difficult to have a relationship with women. One day, a woman appears in front of him. She has a complex and because of this leads a solitary life. The woman though has an amazing singing voice. By meeting her, Kohei begins to think he wants to make music again.
Both story have similarity. In the movie Secret, the female lead went to the future after playing piano in that piano room at her school which could make her travel to the future and meet the male lead in the same piano room at the old building of his school. In Night Wanderer, the male lead could travel to the future after fixing the lamp in his apartment and meet the female lead who happen to be the resident of the apartment in the modern era.
Aki Miyata was a musician and died 1 year ago. He had a bright and positive personality. Sota Kubota is a university student. He is not good at socializing with people. One day, Sota Kubota picks up a cassette tape, which was left by Aki Miyata. If Sota Kubota plays the cassette tape, Aki Miyata’s spirit takes over Sota Kubota's body for only 30 minutes. With Aki Miyata's spirit in his body, Sota Kubota goes to see Aki's former girlfriend Kana Murase and his other bandmates.
