I watched this for MatsuJun of course, but the story pulled me.  It still has some of the silly antics detective stories have in them but at the end I was screaming at the t.v. "There better be a second season!"  I absolutely needed a second season and I get one in 2018 (yippee!!).  There is no real romance in this it more a drama and mystery show. Finding the truth through deductive reasoning is the basis of this show.  I will most likely buy the dvd for this after I have seen season 2.

I loved it, but it is my opinion yours may differ

Monotone but still interesting.

99 Keiji Senmon Bengoshi in my opinion is the 2nd best Drama Comedy after my favorite Hotaru no Hikari. The Things that made it at this level was a high-level and interesting Scriptwriting, because to make viewers kept interested with the premise and plot of Drama Comedy, It had to be has its own speciality. Besides high-level Scriptwiriting the casting selection was also an important part to run this Drama. Guess what? They (Production Team) were succeed in order to select casts perfectly.
Jun Matsumoto as Miyama Hiroto succeed bringing a chemistry of his role very well, the act of being ignorant and uncareness well fitted in him. Kagawa Teruyuki as Sada Atsuhiro is a senior of Miyama who had a grumpy side and a typical of Senior that you can meet in a office you worked for was also brought the situation to be more colorful and interesting. For the Side Characters I don’t wanna give my comment about it, because I just need these 2 main characters to live the situation of this Drama.
For the rest of the review, I personally think you should watch it by yourself. Because I don’t wanna give my bias for you who don’t watch it yet, so you can give your honest review towards it. In the end I just wanna say that this drama is success and entertaining.

Although I feel the writer is holding back, but I still quite enjoy this.

I WILL RECOMEND THIS TO
Those who likes eccentric main character. Searching for clues and solving mysteries stories.

STORY
The premise of the story is quite interesting. Their personality are polar opposite and that what makes it interesting.
However, in this first season, even if I can feel the balance between Miyama and Sada, but I can't say the same to Tachibana. They almost lost me in their 3rd episode, fortunately they wrap the episode with a nice ending.
I got mixed feeling with the fact that Miyama got no character development in this season. Although I think we'll see lots of it in the 2nd season.
The story still got lots of potential and I can feel them holding back for now. Which makes the drama a bit monotone, this season 1 at least.

ACTOR/CAST
Just as expected from experienced actors! And I do realize there's a conversation that the actor improvised, which is kind of cool.

REWATCH?
I do enjoy this but I probably wont rewatch this in my spare times, except for the first episode and some clip if I feel like it.. Just because its not a really my cup of tea.

A Must Watch!!

This show is amazing!
A young lawyer, Miyama, strives to find the truth over defending their client or even justice!
Doing crazy things like recreating the crime scene or re-enacting the crime, asking the most minute and bizarre questions, to bringing out decade old files to get the smallest of hints. The added challenge is that the prosecution and the court try to keep the conviction rate to 99.99% even if it means to wrongfully make the victim confess for crimes they didn't commit, or changing the data to help their cases.
Lets not forget the funny boss (Sada), his quirky sidekick (Akashi) and fellow lawyer (Tachibana) who help him through thick and thin, and go along his crazy shenanigans, to find the truth.
Miyama is funny and witty making lots of puns, some great, and some lame, just like dad jokes! (slightly hard to understand, and the translator's notes can only explain so much,,,)
Sada is his boss who is currently a corporate lawyer, but now has to help out with the criminal branch. He can't help but laugh at Miyama's silly dad jokes. He really loves money lol.
Akashi is an absolute loser who is trying to become a lawyer but fails every year (F) but he's super funny and is quite the entertaining character.
Tachibana is a hardcore pro-wrestling fan, who has to go along with Miyama's bs, but still so sweet! hehe loved her character!!

A court / crime drama that combines serious cases with slapstick humour.

Does the combination of serious cases and humour work? Yes, for the most part.
If you don't like the Japanese style of comedy and typical Japanese acting, then this show is probably not for you.
There are a few scenes when the slapstick comedy is a bit too much for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed the puns.

Things I liked:
* The cases are not too simple -- although the clues are usually quite obvious, it's not always clear on the details, so they stay interesting.
* This does not matter actually, since the main point of attraction are the lawyers and their team of paralegals and how they interact with each other.
* Especially Miyama and his "boss", Sada, who absolutely do not like each other at the beginning, start to respect each others strengths, even though their professional ethics differ.
* Regarding Miyama, the show manages to balance on the fine egde between making him eccentric and unlikeable -- usually landing on the side of eccentric. I think the humour in this show makes his quirks endearing rather than obnoxious.
* A huge plus is that there's no romance plot. Yes, there are two people with enormous crushes on another person, but these are only played for laughs, and it's very clear that the other party will never be interested.

One minor thing I did not like as much: The prosecutors' side stayed too one-dimensional; I would have liked more development for them.

Recommended!

A J-Drama in MDL with rating higher than 8? Now, I am tempted to watch....

First let's talk about the main characters: MatsuJun really fitted the role for Miyama - a grinning troll but actually thoughtful guy. Teruyuki Kagawa and Nana Eikura also played very well as if they were playing their own characters, which created a trinity of skilled lawyers with weird quirks supported by the "exploited" Akashi.

I loved the concept and the story in general - the cases are carefully crafted and the revealing clue often caught me off-guard. With the comedic touch, it helps you to enjoy this drama even if you are not into law/legal themed drama. Puns and the dad jokes were acceptable since I have basic understanding of Japanese, but pro-wrestling characters are unfamiliar to me so personally the whole concept of Bando's restaurant was a bit unnecessary (imagine the difficulty for those who lacks knowledge in both). Other gimmicks such as "Akashi ikimasu!" or the rain of "Eh?" are well executed, and never made me bored. But in the last 3 episodes it seemed that the story became less engaging and a bit stretchy - hence I deducted the score.
