zero chemistry leads
I so wanted to love this drama. There are so many things about it that I love! The plot line is something I enjoy; a regular, slow/paced romance and a lead couple who communicate and don’t let silly things get between them. The gaming element is fun too.
Unfortunately the acting leaves much to be desired. The ML is fine, I would probably enjoy him in a better written show.
The FL is stiff and heavily heavily dubbed, which can be uncomfortable to watch as the dubbing isn’t synced very well. At the beginning I liked her, but as she interacts more with other actors her stiffness becomes very obvious.
The more the two leads interact, the less I’m convinced of any interest between them. I like a story that starts off strongly with the leads falling for each other but it’s soooo badly written, I simply cannot believe or understand how they come to like each other. The actors also have NO CHEMISTRY!
Really, I don’t blame the FL for the poor overall quality of the show. The writing is horrible and production made a lot of decisions with the finish on the show that make it more cartoonish than dramas should be (aka the dubbing).
The terrible writing made it impossible to like any supporting characters.
One trope that I despise is a group of men gathering around the FL like her protectors just because their friend is dating her. it’s so unrealistic and I wish we could drop it and show normal friendships/ interactions between a couples friends.
unfortunately I’ve had to drop halfway through, but I’d love recommendations for a similar storyline that is executed a lot better!

I really really really enjoyed every single episode of this drama. Just because they make the conflict doesn't seem so complicated. And indeed, there are annoying casts which I hate. Dunno why but the antagonists in chinese drama are super annoying.
As for the acting, to be honest the girl who played Bei Weiwei doesn't act that good. Especially for kissing, she doesn't know how to kiss! This is annoying. While for Xiao Nai, well he's sometimes too stiff. But that doesn't bother me from watching.
Will definitely rewatch! Xiao Nai is too sweet!!!!!!

If you’re looking for a drama that breaks the mold and is completely different from most typical dramas then you’ve found the right one. There’s no love triangle, there’s no rich arrogant chaebol that rescues some poor pathetic girl, there’s no hateful meddling parents, there’s no unreasonable separation of the main leads for a ridiculously long time, and there’s not a bunch of constant misunderstandings over silly things. All of the typical cliche storylines used in most Asian romantic dramas are not used here and it’s so refreshing. What there is, is an equal partnership between two equally amazing people that navigate the ups and downs of life together without ever doubting each other. They learn and grow together and we get to be a part of their amazing journey. There’s lots of laugh out loud moments, heartfelt touching moments, cute fluffy romantic moments, and suspenseful moments.
This drama takes you into the very interesting world of gaming with excellent special effects. I’ve never been into gaming but I loved it when the drama took its characters into the gaming world. The fight scenes, costumes, scenery, and storylines were all very interesting. And I liked that it helps us to see that gaming isn’t just about playing around and wasting your time. Many people get into gaming as a career and enjoy creating new games for others to enjoy. Another point it made which I’d never thought about was how gaming opens up a new world for those who are disabled or home bound. They can enjoy their own little gaming world and make new friends and go on adventures.
This drama throws in some very colorful characters that you come to adore. I enjoyed seeing the handsome genius Cao Guang’s character growth as he went from being such a cynical untrusting person to one who trusts those he holds dear without question. Another favorite character of mine was Er Xi. She was such a quirky and adorable little nerd. I felt her pain as she learned from her mistakes and became a better friend. What really makes this drama stand out is that the all of the side characters are really well written and acted. They make you love them and you become invested in their lives. I’ve watched hundreds of dramas and I’ve gotten to where I often skip through the scenes of the side characters if they’re boring. But not with this drama. They’re all very charming.
I also appreciate how this drama shows that being pretty and popular isn’t that great and it has its down sides too. Wei Wei went through some awfully unfair situations through no fault of her own just because people were jealous of her looks and popularity. There’s tons of character growth and no character is one dimensional. Every character is has depth and growth. The bromance is one of the best I’ve seen. And sismance is adorable too. The way all of the friends have each other’s back is touching. Seeing the main leads completely trust one another as they learn many life lessons in both the business world and in their friendships is refreshing and very unusual for a romance drama. There’s lots of kisses and chemistry which is a must for me if I’m watching a romance drama. And the music is really good. I find myself humming along to the tunes as I watch the drama which is very unusual for me.
The only downsides to this drama is that even though there’s lots of kisses the female lead lets the male lead do all of the work. She just looks kind of nervous and shy and just stands there. But if you see the two actors together behind the scenes they are very flirty and super relaxed with one another. Obviously her character is just written that way. The character she is playing is supposed to be very confident at a computer or with her inner circle of girlfriends but around her ultimate crush she’s extremely shy and nervous. But yeah, the kisses could definitely be better.
Watch this if you are looking for a light, fluffy, romantic drama that’s teaches many life lessons with tons of character growth, really adorable characters and is very light on angst and melodrama. Sometimes after watching a really deep angsty melodrama I watch this to relax and de-stress. This drama is like taking a palate cleanser after a really heavy filling meal. It’s light and refreshing.
Don’t watch this if you are looking for a deep, dark, melodramatic, drama with lots of twists and turns and angst.

Very cute rom-com
This show is super wholesome, sweet, and romantic. Looking for a show without a lot of melodrama, just the chance to watch the main couple be cute together and hang out with their fun friends? Then Love O2O is for you!The plot revolves around two college students who meet while playing a popular computer game and quickly fall in love IRL. The main couple's chemistry is pretty cute and fun to watch. They also have a great group of friends. IMO the second FL and ML aren't as compelling; the 2FL can get a little annoying although her character does grow over time.
A lot of the show's first half takes place inside the video game that the leads play while the second half takes place more in real life. In addition to the romance plot, there's a parallel storyline of the main ML trying to get his video game start-up off the ground, which is pretty entertaining to watch, too. There are a couple villains, but they're generally pretty tame. In fact, compared to other C-dramas where the villains are always stirring up misinformation, these ones mostly just pout in the corner, lol.
I would recommend this show as a very light and wholesome watch :)

Must watch!
This is the first Chinese drama that I liked the most(favorite). The storyline isn't much of a heavy one, I liked the fact that they're both gamers which I myself is one. Some scenes may be relatable to others that won't let you get bored of the drama.Yang yang and Zheng Shuang have great chemistry! Although some kissing scenes may be awkward as heck lol. Their visuals are 10 out of 10, they're very handsome and pretty. I just hoped there was a season 2 :(
I recommend this to everyone who would like to start watching chinese dramas.

Mediocre but worth watching
One of the dramas i watched while writing my thesis. It is very bland and honestly misses a lot of the points i wanted it to cover. When i first discovered this i thought it was more of a “powerful I.T. Girl breaking the social norms” in a way. However the actual story is not at all related. The main character wei wei, is definitely an intelligent girl however I don’t think that it was presented well enough in the drama. Although she has excellent grades as well as infinite scholarships but other than the obvious nothing else really points to her being smart. During her internship in the ML’s company she barely did any work, she just took care of them gave them sleeping space etc. There’s no drama in the story almost at all. Some were started but always shut down by xiao nai as soon as it happens which makes it boring. I gave the drama a rewatch value of 10/10 just because i think its great to listen do while doing things. It’s boring enough top not make you focus on it but also good enough to make you not really want to leave your seat therefore i watched it while writing my essay. The acting... I don’t know what to say, in some part it was brilliant but some it just felt so fake. I thing both the ML and FL are great actors (especially Zheng shuang) as i have seen their other shows. Maybe they were just too shy on set. However i do know that the FL was and probably still is suffering from a eating disorder so it must’ve affected her performance.
I like the show quite a lot but i feel like a lot of people will dislike it. I believe it is worth it to at least give is a fighting chance. I have also read the book which i highly recommend if you understand Chinese (not sure if they’ve translated it yet)

"A drama you can never get old of"
I don't often watch romance dramas since many of them contain naive or weak-willed girls. When love O2O the movie came out, I watched it and liked it a lot since the idea and packaging was amazing. It contained fluffy romance, a smart female lead, good acting, gaming and a bit of action. So when the drama came out I had much anticipation. Those anticipation's was met The actors played their roles well. Although the female lead was a bit awkward at times, I still fell in love with her and the cast. She was hardworking and smart. This drama also sparked a interest for Yang Yang, as I began watching more of his other dramas. The romances was the right amount. And the chemistry between the main couple was amazing as well. As you watch more, the more you will get attached to the cast and characters. This a drama worth watching if your new to romance and defiantly worth re-watching.Cet avis était-il utile?
The story is really Good. Even though it is a cliché' story of boy-meets-girl college student in this modern day but what makes the movie /drama the script, characters and the celebrities playing the role. The actor is Good. The actress, there are some scene that I don't like her acting. Maybe because that is the character that she have to portray. I don't know and I'm not a professional to criticize.
But overall is a Good one. I even re-watching it sometimes. And even the soundtrack is on my Spotify playlist :)

Why do people like this so much???
Had written a review previously but I gave up due to the word count I had to hit but I'm so angry with this show that I'm sitting myself down to give it a piece of my mind. The starting was fine, it was quite interesting that the FMC was a computer major with such good looks. Then, the reason MMC falls for FMC was like beyond stupid. He didn't even say that it's because she's pretty as well or what. It was just that he was super impressed with the way she plays the game like r u fucking kidding me.... go date the top player in the game then wtf? Absolutely nothing about her character/personality that he fell for. The drama that surrounds them is absolutely superficial and things I would ignore if it happened to me. Who the fuck cares if they don't believe that she's luwei wei wei in game. Then the MMC picking her up from that event when someone shouted about the FMC being unfaithful in-game. His response was the lamest shit ever. THEN in the car he said something about how it's ok for her to cheat on him, he'll just make her regain faith. i find this whole entire show completely nonsensical. The only exciting part was vince zhang or wtv, hacking their damn system or wtv. That was the highlight of the entire series. yup. That's how boring, naive, shallow and just stupid this entire show is.

The main issue of this drama is the acting. He's a robot and she's a cold board that sometimes uses a cute facial expression, but that's it. The story says she's some kind of genius, but besides studying a lot and being good at a videogame, no proof of her intelligence has been found yet. I can't even describe the guy, he just stays there and looks good, being cool, cold-hearted or whatever.
Even their love story is awkward: they pass from online to offline dating without a reason...? I mean, c'mon. They barely spoke to each other during the first live encounter and for the majority of time was a monologue inside the girl's head. They said multiple times that what's matter is inside and not the beauty outside, still, they're together without really knowing each other? They spend the majority of their conversations talking about other people's matters.
Their relationship is based exactly on what? No idea, really.
The only characters that bring a little smile on the viewer are the three roommates of the guy.
For the rest, it was painful to watch.

Surprisingly terrible for how highly rated it is
It’s rare for me to drop a drama this far in, but I simply cannot make myself slog through any more of this. The show is what it is and I don’t expect anything will change. There is very little plot here, and it’s straight up boring. But worse than that are the characters. The FL is set up as some genius rockstar gamer girl, but absolutely nothing on screen supports that. She is naive, simpering, weak-willed, and easily pushed around. The ML is supposed to be the campus hot guy, but he is essentially a block of wood. He displays little emotion other than arrogance, condescension, and occasional rye amusement at how silly his girlfriend is.
The main actress also seems quite uncomfortable performing intimate scenes (or she was directed to be that way, who knows). The kisses are ridiculous to watch - the lead actor is actually trying to perform passionate kisses (and is quite good at it) while the actress stands stockstill and pinches her lips together tightly, looking like she can’t wait to get out of there.
There were some side characters and potential romances that I was mildly interested in, but they didn’t get enough screen time to keep me going. If you want a modern cdrama romcom with video game elements I suggest watching You Are My Glory instead.

Just Okay, but Dull
The plot is somewhat interesting but a bit overused. I've watched half the series. The characters are easy to get, but it's a bit dull that they all act alike. The main characters, both top players from the same school, fall for each other, which is cute but a bit shallow. Even though the actors are big now, they were newbies when the show started, and it shows in their stiff acting, especially the leads. In the end, I decided to drop the series because it gets boring and feels like nothing much is happening.Cet avis était-il utile?
