Fair warning you need to pay attention to the first two episodes! The story moves so fast you need to keep an eye out for names. There's two storylines going on. The present, and the past. Which are interwoven throughout the drama. The first two episodes do this cool overlay affect so that the younger versions of the older present day characters can be recognized. It's just a bit rough at first but the rest is masterfully done. Healer moves at an incredible pace and never leaves any room for slow episodes. No fillers here!
I found out that Healer was written by the same person who wrote Faith! Song Ji-Na is her name, and the lists of dramas is long. I've only watched Faith, so I don't know what her past writing is like. However, this is definitely cleaner and even better than Faith. (Judging from the ratings on MDL Healer is one of her top rated shows.)
The best part is that Healer is huge on characters and their developments. It balanced the present day characters so well. Seeing everyone's backstories revealed each time was awesome. Everything isn't revealed at once. Letting you truly get to know the characters and personalities. The slow reveal of the past was perfect and the flashbacks never bogged down the storyline. I wanted to know what happened in the past, and for the first time I was actually bummed when the snippet of the past was over. It was all written in such away to give Healer an excellent mystery. Not to mention that side characters--whether villains, comedic reliefs, henchman, and good guys--weren't just left to being stereotypes. Sometimes they only got small backstories or character development, but it always worked. Some key characters I loved were Min Ja an amazing, Kpop fan who happened to be Healer's hacker and boss. Oh, and the "Lackey" girl who helps Healer out. Yeong Shin's father and "Uncle". There are so many more, but this is already getting long.
The plot was great. Everyone had a role to play. Moon Shik was an excellent villain. He wasn't fully black and white. He was delusional about the things he did, and would do. The whole cast of villains are that way. It was refreshing to see how everyone could be a puppet if they let it happen. To see the mystery play out and see this elaborate game being played between the Elder and Healer. Bravo. I'm being very vague, but I think that's important going into this show. Just know that it's an action, comedy, thriller, romance, and mystery! (Plenty of mysteries.)
Healer was great. At times he made questionable decisions, but that happens in dramas. The important part was I could see why he did it. Ji Chang Wook as Jung Hoo, AKA Healer, was perfection. He donned the role so well. From playing the professional Healer, to himself as Jung Hoo, quirky Bong Soo, and whom ever he needed to be. The Night Courierr concept was so much fun! I loved that he decided he needed to discover himself when he "woke up". He wasn't just some brooding male love interest. In fact, he made me smile a lot. He was polite and thoughtful. Treated his leading lady right.
Speaking of Yeong Shin the leading lady! I actually got a lot of warnings about needing to give her about 2 episodes before I'd like her. Not in my case. I loved Yeong Shin immediately! She was a fun, confident, and perky character. Sure she gets to be a damsel, but that happens with dramas. What I could believe was the situations. Yeong Shin is a fighter and she's strong. It could have been annoying that violence makes her have panic attacks, leaving her unable to breath. But with her background it fit perfectly. Even with the lightness of the show Yeong Shin's past in the foster care system was tragic and heart wrenching. I enjoyed seeing how all of these things made her into such an amazing person. If something stresses/scares her she thinks about it and dances it off. I mean she goes out and gets it done! Whether it's a news big story that the "Man" will try to punish her for. Or going out and getting her man. I mean she says this to the man she loves:
"If you send me away . . . you'll cry forever."
Jung Hoo and Yeong Shin have the best chemistry ever! Not only that but they're believable. The whole romance. What I love is there unwavering faith in each other once they get to know each other. Jung Hoo wants Yeong Shin to ask questions, to know him. Most importantly they don't let things go unsaid. Jung Hoo and Yeong Shin are one of my all time favorite couples. Not to mention that they get real, sexy kisses. Oh, and some skinship. (Which I will not spoil. Just know that it is there.) These two had the most amazing morning after and I rewatched it so many times. These two are so comfortable with each other, everything feels natural. There's this scene where Jung Hoo talks about what will happen when he reveals himself to Yeong Shin. He knows how she will react, and never doubts that she will accept him. It was amazing, and they both know each other so well that they can do that. But they're still getting to know each other. Watching them originally fall in love is beautiful. Watching them learn more about each other and fall in love just ruined me.
On to other things now.
Was the music good? Heck yeah! I bought the soundtrack at episode 8. Without even listening to the album previews!! Or finishing the drama.
I didn't really address it but everyone's acting was on point. One of the villains, the butler who smirks, was a little anime at times. Smirking and cover his slyness with a hand! Between this amazing script and the talent of the cast everything packed a punch.
Healer should be a dark story, but the writing creates this perfect balance. Dramatic dirty politics and secret organizations! The shocking murder of a friend, suicide, lost children, and plenty of lies! A moving romance! Plenty of laughs and great humor. There's so much going on and it amazes me how well it's all balanced. Don't be nervous about this being dark. I spent most of my time riding adrenaline rushes from the amazing action scenes, romance, and humorous moments to ever feel bogged down. Don't get me wrong Healer will also wrench your heart and put you through the ringer. When this drama is over you'll be going "Again! Again!" (No really I flirted with the idea of starting it up right after the last episode.)

Although initially i thought of City Hunter but the plot is different and I actually prefer Healer. Park M Y character here is better too. Love our female lead isnt just a damsel in distress. She has spunk, kind and bravery despite her pitiful childhood. The same characteristics mentioned that drawn the interest of our hero.
Both the leads acted really well and brought the jist of their character and has good chemistry too.
Romance story ( thats my main priority in a drama) =D : Love how initially he wasnt receptive , she was just the subject his client requested. Love how it evolved. I wont spoil it but have to mention their first date was different but romantic and she really put herself out there for someone she hasnt met upfront but trusted her feelings. Their first kiss was really swoon worthy and among my top 10 memorable drama kisses.
No idea why it took me so long to click and watch. I marathon and finish in 2days.

I love the story of this drama. I've always loved dramas that connect the past and present in an unexpected way.
The script of Healer was just great. No horrible lines, no unbelievably cliché sentences that would make me throw up, no bad guy suddenly be good guy, and good heavens no 'I-just-found-the-girl-of-my-dreams-and-I-will-protect-her-forever'. It was brilliantly made, I have absolutely nothing to change. It was real. It was perfect. And it didn't suddenly drift away from it's story, the story kept going on it's rightful path.
Now let's get to the real deal. The acting. Dear Miss Park Min Young, I will forever love you. I can't believe this is the same girl in City Hunter! Stunning performance, may I say. Although, I noticed some flaws, she completely resembled her character. As for Ji Chang Wook, I believe he was Healer in another life. He just made it into my fav actors list. Also, seeing him as Park Bong Soo was so fun to watch. I totally fell for his unbelievably real acting.
The other actors were fabulous. Everyone did a great job, Do Ji Won (Myung Hee) was my favorite character in this drama, I can't love her more <3 . And Special Big shout out to Ajuhmma! ^^
The music was good. Nothing special about it. But it did make me sing along.
Healer has all the right elements. Great action, great comedy, awesome romance. Speaking of romance, I couldn't be happier with it. The male and female just clicked together. They just fit so well. Great development of their relationship. And every time they look at each other I feel like wanting a boyfriend. I think they're in love in real life, I hope so anyway.
Watching Healer, I cried. I laughed. I loved. I hated. I pitied. I got confused, angry and excited. And I had the argue of wanting to go inside my screen and kill someone. And I had the argue of wanting to go inside my screen and hug someone.
Re-watching it? I'm already thinking about going to YouTube and replaying all my favorite scenes only a hundred times or so..
You know that feeling when you watch a drama and you just feel like there's something you want to change? that little detail that bugs you and you just wanna tell the writer or the director about? Well, I didn't have that feeling here. The number one reason of why I'm giving it a 10.
I guess I don't have to say I recommend it cause it's pretty obvious I do. ^^

THE MOST OVERHYPED & BULLS**T DRAMA
This could be the most controversial and honest review of the most over hyped and overrated K dramaI can't seems to find a single reason why Healer has such a high rating . I mean this whole drama is flawed and inconsistent , it's knowingly stretched to keep it mysterious . I found it uninteresting . Even suspicious partner is better than this .
The direction and screenplay are not upto the mark . Pretty much terrible
It's inconsistent and f**ks logic .
I have been watching K dramas for a long time and the only reason is that they live upto their name and have a subtle quality but this one didn't .
The only good thing about this is the acting and yeah it sure has interesting characters .
Healer had all the potential , a kinda superhero plot like Superman , actually it has many similarities with superman superficially .
This is the drama where the plot is ordinary but instead the characters create a charm still I think people left their brains behind while watching this and gave it such a high rating .
This also isn't JCW's best drama , K2 was much much better than this .
I will keep it simple , watch healer only and only if you have nothing to do . It should be your last choice .
P.S : I can expect people jumping onto me for this review but I'll be honest that's it . You people are brainwashing others that it's a best drama out there .

I've watched that guy in Warrior Baek Dong Soo and Empress Ki and he just oozes charisma so I was anticipating Healer just for him. The show started off rocky, the music was annoying at first and Park Min Young's acting in City Hunter left a bit of a bad taste, but I decided to keep going if only for Chang Wook in his all black get ups flying across rooftops.
I'm so happy that I continued because by episode 4, I couldn't get enough! The music got better, Min Young's acting has improved greatly and the supporting cast was so good that you wouldn't have noticed her flaws anyway. This reminds me more of Gaksital than City Hunter in that the lead is more of an antihero being forced into his role but embracing it nonetheless. The push and pull between the good and bad guys was perfect and the story was well written though there was a plot hole or two.
Overall, the stylish cinematography, the cast, the writing, and Chang Wook's smile will make you forget what flaws this drama has and keep you entertained until the end.
I definitely recommend this drama!

It's a beautiful feeling...
I really loved "Healer"! It's definitely one of the best drama's I've seen recently, even though my rating may be a little lower than the all 10 reviews left by most viewers. It's the kind of drama that is multi-genre and appeals to a wide audience. It's also the kind of drama that makes 20 episodes seem like not enough time! The romance, suspense, relationships, action, and great characters make every episode fun to watch. I'm definitely going through withdrawal now that it's over.Ji Chang Wook as the "Healer" is so good! I immediately developed a crush on his Superman/Clark Kent routine. He went from dorky/awkward to action hero with such ease. I was definitely impressed by his performance, and hope to see him in another drama soon. Park Min Young was the perfect match for him. I liked that she was brave in spite of her fears and comfortable being herself. My favorite part of this drama was the romance between these two. The chemistry between Park Min Young and Ji Chang Wook is addictive to watch! The romance wasn't too cheesy either (so nonromance fans shouldn't get turned off). I felt like I was really watching two people fall in love.
The entire cast gets a 10 from me, but Hacker Ajumma was probably my favorite of the rest of the cast. Still, my second favorite part of the entire drama was Reporter Yeo's outfits. Every single outfit was so amazing that I just had to mention it. Also, I'm a fan of the red glasses!
I made the story score much lower than most, even though I loved almost every episode, and was totally into the action, and suspense. My issue with the story was that it was complicated to follow because of how it was told. The backstory was such a large part of the main story, and details were revealed so slowly, that I got confused and would sometimes lose interest. There were so many characters, and relationships, and flashbacks, that it was just hard to keep track. Eventually, it does get explained, and I was still entertained by comedic, and action scenes in the meantime. It also makes my rewatch score pretty high. Now that I know what the story is, I think that it would be awesome to watch it all again.
Overall "Healer" was an awesome superhero kind of story, that is exciting without relying on all the usual KDrama clichés. The ending leaves some loose ends, but it also leaves you wanting more. I'm so glad I decided to watch this drama while not knowing much about it. It a great vehicle for Ji Chang Wook, and Healer is such a great character, that I would be happy to see a "Healer 2"!
This is definitely a great drama to add to your must-watch list!
*Update* After a second viewing I just bumped up all of my original scores because years later this drama still holds up and I think loved it, even more, the 2nd time!
And as for the soundtrack... as much as "Eternal Love" is still kinda annoying, "You" is still my jam!

The Actors portrayed their roles in a superb manner especially Ji chang Wook. He really nailed being a Healer. So strong yet clingy. I am so in love with his character.
The story is great. Honestly, I’ve watched lots of K Drama and I can’t seem to move on with Healer. Nothing compares. You’ll experience a roller coaster emotion in this drama. Two thumbs up. And I think it deserves more than its rating.
And the OST. It's perfect for every scene.
And I am watching it for the Nth time and I am still enjoying it.

If I were to compare Healer to any other dramas I would say it's a combination of City Hunter and Pinocchio, with it's own spin, of course. Healer was just so well balanced between action, politics (and flashbacks), romance, comedy, etc. It had everything. It made me laugh, it made me cry, basically, it made me feel all of the emotions.
Usually when I watch dramas there's one aspect of the show that bothers me or lowers my opinion of the drama. But this wasn't the case with Healer! While it took a couple of episodes to fully understand everything that was going on, the story was wonderfully developed and stayed entertaining throughout the whole show. I will say that there were a couple of things I was wondering about that never got closure, but you can really only fit in so much before it becomes overwhelming.
The acting in this show was really great as well! Park Min Young has yet to disappoint me and Ji Chang Wook was fabulous. Together they were perfect. Their chemistry was wonderful! All the other actors were perfect for their roles and held up their ends of the plot. All of the characters were great (even the antagonists)!
I really loved the Healer soundtrack as well. I think "Eternal Love" captures the essence of the show and I've been listening to it on repeat. Healer evokes such a sense of nostalgia in you. I can't quite explain it. I think all of the flashbacks in the show contribute to this.
Speaking of which, I loved the flashbacks! Of course, there were some typical K-drama flashbacks to romantic moments in the show, but for the most part they were all crucial to the plot. I found that I was just as interested in what happened in the past as what was happening in the present. I don't know if I've watched a drama that has utilized the flashback cliche as well as Healer.
Overall, I really loved Healer. It wasn't perfect. But in my book, it's pretty darn close. Normally I would make a big deal of how the ending wasn't satisfying enough, but somehow I think the ending of Healer really fits the show. While a little part of my fangirl heart wishes we were shown more, I'm still happy with what we got. Healer is definitely one that I'd like to rewatch someday!

1. Ji chang wook and Park Min Young - wow they amazed me to the highest level!
They are so brilliant and so believable that i shipped them in real life! Their
Chemistry is such a hit! Jcw and PMY earned the respect of so may viewers
Even in the international audience. They act so natural, spontaneous and with so much fluidity.
2. Plot and story - a very clever fusion of the past and the present situation. No episodes that will get you bored since the plot are intertwined. Story is unique, never seen something like this before.
3. Romance and skinship - one of the best and amazing romance between the OTPs not to mentioned the many skinship, stares, gestures, handheld, hugs and back hugs, name it, and it just so real or they are really good actors to begin with? Never seen a romance like this, they just love adore care and trust each other. No noble idiocy, misunderstanding are resolved immediately because they just really love each other not wanting to have an unnecessary prolong misunderstanding.
4. The "Feels" - i have never seen a drama loaded with a lot of "feels" and emotions as Healer! So many emotions are displayed in this show not to mentioned all those feels with romance undertone! I have never experienced spazzing, drooling, screamin nor those feeling of guilt, pain, longing, waiting, love, loyalty, abandonment, loneliness, sadness, madness, crazy in love among others in my other kdrama watching! Healer is a one stop drama with all those emotions intertwining and wow so beautiful indeed!
Things i do not like: cant really think now of any, maybe this just ended with many of its followers and fans left ruined (vs their normal daily life ) hahaha....
If there's one thing that made me out of Healer, it is the realization that a true and loving relationship conquers everything, it inspires me to become one---loving, caring and trusting person!

STORY: The story overall wasn't bad. I did find it a little confusing in the beginning. I think because there were so many names and faces to follow, especially with the flashbacks. I also got some of the flashback actors mixed up because I thought they looked alike so I was getting people's names mixed up as well. I did like all the fight scenes and Healer's missions that he had to do. I thought that was interesting. I wanted more fight scenes though...I thought the middle of the drama lacked the fight scenes. I also thought the romance part of the story was cute. It was touching that they both sort of healed each other or got them to be brave for each other. I thought that was cute. I don't think the drama needed to be 20 episodes long...I think 16 would have been fine cuz I think it dragged a bit in the middle and I think that was because it was 20 episodes and not 16. The ending I had an issue with as well. I think we could have used another episode to see how everyone ended up...I think it just ended rather abruptly.
ACTING/CAST: The cast and acting overall was good. Wasn't stiff and had emotion. The story definitely had enough stuff in it to invoke strong emotions from the cast/characters. So I am not mad at the acting or casting. My favorite character definitely is Ahjumma. I loved her and how badass she is! I had a minor issue with the main female lead's character. The story made her out to be this survivor and strong woman which I loved (yes with some flaws but it made her more human) but in the middle of the drama, I thought the writers made her into a damsel in distress for a couple of episodes who was confused about a lot of stuff, which made her cry a lot and I didn't like that change in her character...I didn't see a reason for it. I do have a thing for strong female leads. Ji Chang Wook was of course AMAZING!
MUSIC: You know it is funny, at first I HATED the OSTs...LIKE HATED THEM! I didn't think they fit the drama at all but slowly they grew on me. Are they the best OSTs I ever heard...no but I like them now
REWATCH VALUE: I probably will not be watching this drama again
OVERALL: It is a solid drama. I liked it, I just think I walked into this drama with such high expectations that I don't think could be met. Maybe because it was an older drama and I am comparing it to other dramas that are newer or I just had too high of expectations...You should still watch the drama. It is solid and a must see if you are a Ji Chang Wook fan/drama watcher. It is basically a classic at this point...again I did have some small issues with it.

In all episodes, your mind will be triggered what will happen next. You will become one of those reporters and policemen wanting to solve the crime, to solve the mystery and to catch the suspects. You’ll become compassionate on how hard life has been especially for Healer. And of course, you will fall deeply in love and might feel jealous to our love interest – Seo Jeong Hoo and Chae Yeong Shin. They are my definition of “relationship goals”.
Don’t forget the OST of this drama. OMG! This is the first ever kdrama I watched that has pure English OST – Eternal Love by MLTR. Everytime it plays, either my heart wants shout or my lips automatically smiles. It seems that I found one of my wedding songs. :)
Of course, all dramas has it flaws. This drama is not an exception. There are some scenes that are not convincing but those scenes are minimal. If you’re too much into the drama, you might not notice it.
Overall, I will definitely recommend this drama. I’m not the type who recommends the drama I watch because I’m not confident if other people will like the same. But this drama, it give me so much confidence.
