An enjoyable mess with no actual story and no real direction.

This is one of the movies that made me feel that Korean cinema struggles to get an identity. It was historical yet felt very hollywood like. This is the type of movie I'd expect from hollywood. Plot was sacrificed very much for action and flashy sword play. It would be great if more time was spent engaging us with the plot versus giving us a flashy display.

One of the pros though is the acting as the cast is magnificent however, that also makes you a little annoyed because the script writer and director could have done so much with the compelling cast they had gathered.

Cha Seung Won's character plays a rebel who tries to overthrow the current Korean King amidst the invading Japanese army. You can see why evidently there's no plot because why anyone would throw a coup amidst an invading enemy is beyond me. Hence proceeds his quest to now overthrow the king and also battle a freaking invading army.

Amidst all this, they actually managed to squeeze some ill-placed romance. Seriously, it has no place whatsoever being in this movie.

Then the ending came with an "what exactly was that movie about?"

It's aptly named though. It really is about Blades of Blood. After all, lot's of blood but no plot was found in this movie.

The thing that kept me interested and made me continue watching this really odd, weird, sometimes gross but also funny movie was Baek Sung Hyun - he was the life of this movie - him and his blind sidekick Hwang Jeong Min - they were hilarious together. I laughed a lot b/c of them - hit, bonk, duck, I got you again lol and the blind guy whenever he would laugh I'd laugh lol - this kind of humor is funny to me. The weird thing is I started this movie for Han Ji Hye and to be honest I didn't see the reason for her being on this movie - she has a very small role and not a very gripping one either - and Cha Seung Won - is he a vampire or something? lol, that's what I kept thinking about him throughout this movie - whenever he'd smile and show his "wolf" teeth - I'd think man he looks like a vampire O.o weird.... the only scene I really didn't like was when they went to the gisaeng house - (the gross scene - no it's not explicit or anything if your wondering - it was just something the blind guy said to one of the gisaengs that I found disgusting after I figured out what he really said - yuck).

Overall: this wasn't what I was expecting going it - the story really has no point - but if you like funny stories where people get hit a lot and you are wanting a laugh - this may be one to consider - I have a bad sense of humor - so the lead guy getting picked on by the blind guy who could fight was rather humorous to me lol ;P

Acting: great only by Baek Sung Hyun and Hwang Jeong Min - they were perfect in their acting and facial expressions ;)
