They are under the genre of Romantic Comedy and deal with a nerdy girl's unforgettable First Love. Set in High School, love blossoms between the two characters and continues in their adulthood after seeing each other again many years thereafter. For me though, Our Times is way better than Crazy Little Thing Called Love since the characters (especially the guy) are more fleshed out and the ending is more realistic. The main difference is that in Crazy Little Thing Called Love, the nerdy girl falls for the good yet popular guy in school (and vice versa); Our Times shows the plain Jane falling for the popular guy first but ending up with the "Bad Boy." Both implied a happy ending for the OTP.
Both have a male protagonist chasing agains the perpetrator, who took his wife's life and turned his life uspide down. These protagonist have cool female sidekicks, which are professionalists of their field.
The main characters are awkward human beings that suffer from social fobia or are just introverts.
Both are about Joseon man, traveling to the future, whenever their life in endagered and then meeting there the woman they fall in love with.
Both adress the private life of a person dealing with a horrifiying desease. In the one that person is an adult. In the other- it's not.

SHARK is all about a band coming together and making a comeback after the death of the lead vocalist. The main character is another vocalist, like Eugene, that needs to step in. However, in SHARK, the focus is how the bad-tempered "God-sent" vocalist learns to get along with the rest of the band and helps them Keep Walking forward to achieve their dreams. If you liked Mr. Idol, definitely check it out.
Minor Spoilers: SHARK's ending is a bit sad but beautiful. Also, the sequel just derails everything, mostly.

The lead couple in both these shows have so much chemistry! Min Hyuk (SWDBS) and Tae Woon (School 2017) are perfect boyfriend material.
The shows also have mystery aspects to them.

I get the same feeling after watching both of these movies. Not much dialogues going on but you still fully understand the situations through the character's emotions. And both movies touch the family issues, a kind of movies which makes you "think" a lot i guess.
Coming of age, high school students, finding oneself, basically the same theme of teen and discovery.
In both dramas there is an adorable leading lady and an equally adorable mother of the leading man. The mother goes to great lengths to match make for this couple..
Differences:
Itazura na Kiss' leading man is the typical cliche smart and handsome Jerk. He does NOT want to admit that he likes the girl, even to himself. The leading lady is adorable and sweet. She is not very talented but determined to better herself.
My Mr. Mermaid's leading man is dedicated to his sport but kind and sweet. He seems quite smitten with the leading lady, right away. The leading lady is dedicated to becoming a good reporter, but equally dedicated to being an honest upright person and good friend.
Itazura na Kiss is based on a manga and there were versions made in Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and China... I loved them all. However, if you do not like going through all of those episodes, that make it seem like the girl is chasing a guy who is just not that into her, try Kiss Me(the Thai version) first. In that version, it is apparent, very early on that he has a soft spot for her, compared to the rest.

They have similar storylines.
Both have devoting wife. Loves their husband. Their husband meets another lady(in promise it's a rich lady).
Both couple in the drama have a young daughter. Both female lead have a another guy who likes them and wants to help them.
Both dramas that had betrayed their girlfriend have trouble relationships with the woman they chose to be with and end up running to the main female because they realise their love for them.
Both seek revenge
I watched both but fell in love with 'The promise' Because it's detailed.
The promise is a daily drama that consist of 102 episodes whereas the other one has less episodes and isn't a daily drama.
