great hook

funny, sweet, lovable characters, great editing....i'm getting replay vibes because it takes place in 1996 and a bit of wlfkbj vibes because the female character is this sporty, happy go lucky girl with a bob haircut of course. i can tell i'm going to have some second lead syndrome here and there because the way li yu looks at yang xi is so so sweet and i have a soft spot for sensitive guys like him :( BUT i like the chemistry the two mains had right off the bat it looks like it will develop from bickering friends to lovers which is my FAVORITE!highlights in this episode-all the piggy back rides done in a sweet or funny way it doesn't come off as cheesy like it does in a lot of kdramas i've watched *rolls eyes* it's more casual and cute and very wholesome-i love her parents!! i can tell it will be centered around familial issues too and i'm already for it-hope to find out more about the other friends in their group clearly a lot of contrasting personalities here ^^

A solid start though a bit slow. I can't help comparing it to The Master's Sun (one of my favorites) although I'm trying hard not to. Especially since the first half of the episode gave off very similar vibes. For a first episode it wasn't totally engaging, but it is definitely promising with the ending, I can tell we are going to have a lot of fun watching this.

Most people seem to see Bong Sun as bland, but I find her seriously adorable; she plays the shy character well. Of course our main ghost girl (don't know her name) is aye total opposite of our shy heroine and I'm already so I'm excited to see what's to come. Our main lead guy seems promising too. Rather than a jerk he's just strict. He's also arrogant but in the comedic sense. And I love that we delve into his past character as well which was similar to Bong Sun's.

I'm a little bit iffy because I don't want our male lead to fall in love with Possessed Bong Sun because that's not actually HER ya know, but it looks like that's where it's heading...oh well hopefully they pull it off well!

EVERYTHING

I'm usually not too keen on first episodes of dramas. I find myself trying to resist the urge to skip in the first few moments of first episodes because I'm eager to get to the main storyline.

Fight For My Way has all the qualities of a good first episode--it starts with a lovable cast of characters, a good pace, and just the right amount of sweet and funny moments for a first episode. I found myself pausing to laugh a lot and squeal because of the already obvious STRONG CHEMISTRY the main leads have!!! arGHHH

Dong Man is a clueless yet adorable goofball while Ae Ra tries her best to keep up a strong and cutthroat persona but at the same time is seriously too cute--and that makes for a good best friend (for now hehe...) duo.

Aside from the romance, I can see that there's going to be a good plot/storyline of them cheering each other on towards their dreams and I can't wait for more episodes!!!

Four Stars

Episode 2 started off much better than episode 1 with lots of comedic moments that actually made me burst out laughing. I expected a lot of swapping back and forth but for now it seems that we're sticking to Soonae as our main girl. I thought that she was going to be there just for comedy so I'm really happy to see her backstory which is bittersweet now.

I'm worried that we won't get character development from Bong Sun though and that Seonwoo will fall in love with ghost girl which will definitely end up tragically. I'm trusting the show not to head down that path though? Aside from that I thought this episode was generally slow, but I understand the slow buildup and its actually building up my curiosity to watch more! So don't let me down!

A lot went down in this drama. Focusing on the romance first, JUNGHWAN YOU IDIOT. There's nothing more I hate in Kdramas than misunderstandings that never get resolved or explained!

Communication people, that's the way to solve them! I'm conflicted because I know Junghwan is backing off for Taekie but at the same time part of me wants him to be a little selfish? I guess that's one charm of the drama, how strong their friendship is that they are willing to sacrifice for one another. Neither Taek nor Junghwan have really made a move yet and we are at episode 14!

On another note, Wise One Dong Ryeong strikes again. I agree that Deoksun is focused more on the idea of love and romance and being liked rather than actually loving someone herself. And that's totally fine and relatable.

I found the scene with Sunwoo and his father so sad; Sunwoo is definitely mature for his age; I wish he would see that he doesn't have to play father figure and son and the same time; it's fine to depend on others but at the same time I understand it's difficult to accept ajusshi will take the place of his father.

I'm getting more and more frustrated with this drama and that's WITH already knowing who Deoksun ends up with, I can only imagine how those who DON'T know feel...

Angry because I wrote a long review that got deleted unfortunately.

So in short, I love all of the parents so much (except for Dong Ryeong's mom, hoping we tackle that issue later on) and how this drama focuses so much on the theme of family in a natural and realistic way.

I got so ready eyed seeing Taek's dad freaking out because we are all so used to seeing him so calm all the time but of course even he worries immensely for Taek.

I love love love Deoksun's parents, I seriously just love their actors too, especially the dad whose crying scenes are always done so well and sincerely. Even though Deoksun's mom was alright I felt emotional watching the phone call confirming it.

And Junghwan's parents are just hilarious, so funny how the dad tried fixing everything and failing! Loving the cheese between hyung and Man Ok, Deoksun's bestie; this drama always had a perfect balance between funny and sad :)

HAHAHA the secret dating thing is not working…

HAHAHA the secret dating thing is not working out, poor sunwoo is going to get thrown on the ground eveytime. Haha I wonder how everyone will react when they actually reveal that they are dating?

I'm shipping Taek and Deoksun more and more; to be completely honest, not sure if it's that they have really great chemistry or Taek's contagious and blinding smile just makes me believe it. Probably a little bit of both. Heh. Poor Junghwan :(

Ah, can't believe how far Bora's character has come. I really hated her in the beginning, but she's shown herself to be strong, sensible, smart, and adorable all at the same time. Now there's really no one I hate (ah except Sunwoo's paternal grandmother ugh that halmoni)

I'm really happy about how Bora advised Sunwoo. Really he doesn't want to see his mother suffer or work so much but she's his mother and she won't stop anyways. He should support and comfort her. (Also Taek and Sunwoo as future stepbrothers! Ahhhh)

I wonder if Taek hadn't confessed to the guys he liked Deoksun/Sooyeon, that Junghwan and Deoksun may have been a thing...? I don't know because now Deoksun had finally paid attention to him and all he can do is move further away from her. :(

Bora and Sunwoo...yessss (also nice to see a real kiss rather than just an awkward lip touch kiss ugh)

Looks like Junghwan is holding back because of Taek...friendship over love? I don't know who to ship anymore...it was much easier in Reply 1997 ;_;

What a great first episode! The only other one I've watched in the reply series is reply 1997 and it took me a good three episodes before I decided to not drop it and get into it.

Reply 1988 starts off quite well; I love the way they distinguish the differences between the families and introduce our characters one by one. I loved seeing the family dynamics and I already love the casting and can't wait to see more! Gahh and the same parents from reply 1997 haha I love it!

Mostly skipped through this episode. I'm really annoyed by Bo Nui at this point. Worst episode.

His best friend showed more love for him than she did at the hospital. Happy that Je Soo finally confronted that shady fortune teller though; that was the highlight of this episode.

Four Stars

well the ending was semi surprising in that I didn't expect the show to use that certain kdrama cliche. And although it's a cliche I don't like too much I'm glad the show did not decide to go ahead with the noble idiocy cliche WHICH I CANNOT STAND (adds unnecessary conflict, angst, and frustration to the show and I feel is usually used im shows when they don't have any other ideas) on a positive note the hint of bromance between Gary and Je Soo made me smile and of course all of the cute coupley moments because I am such a sucker for this couple

But I'm worried obviously for main couples relation because shim bo ni is clearly going to start blaming herself sigh...lets just hope this show wraps up nicely and leaves me with the amazing impression it has had so far.

officially drowning in fluff and cuteness

Adorably cheesy and full of so much cute! My cheeks hurt from smiling so much! Usually I get bored when the couple finally gets together or it becomes too cringy/overly cheesy but these two are JUST TOO CUTE the chemistry is amazing and of course our main leads are flawless actors!

TOO MUCH HAPPY THOUGH and as we all know im KDRAMA logic that means happiness is going to come to an end pretty quickly :0 cue the suspenseful music dun dun duuuun

Despite the stuff with the caviar incident being a filler, I actually really enjoyed that and we got to see some bromance haha. No matter how much min soo complains about chef, and how much chef scolds him they care about each other.

Of course the flashbacks in this episode were bittersweet and I'm heartbroken for Soonae. But I was generally bored throughout this episode. I'm not sure where the plot is heading yet except for us uncovering how Soonae died.
