Adorable and Sweet
So this was an unexpected delight for me. A cute and appealing respite from all the mediocre cdramas we have been getting lately. As I had zero expectations going into the drama I was so pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Such a cute and adorable drama. Just a slice of life drama set in earlier times. No huge trauma, no utterly despicable people. Problems arise and the main couple get thru them with honesty and integrity. Family values and sisterly love. Side characters cute and funny. Yes there are setbacks and a few bad guys but it would not be a drama without them. Main couple are adorable and funny and remain true to each other. I recomment watching on a full stomach, the food scenes made me hungry each and every episode. What fun this one was!Cet avis était-il utile?

What was that?
Honestly I am not a fan of stupid slapstick shows. This one is no exception. Just utter nonsense. I understand how this may entertain some people but I barely got thru it. I continued only for the ML. He was adorable. FL was an utter train wreck and completely unlikable to me. I really could not stand her character; she actually had no character! She was an utterly useless, selfish human being whose mouth worked so much faster than her pea brain. If you have 24 hours to waste by all means watch this. I can not believe they are actually doing a season 2.Cet avis était-il utile?
Dissapointing
So lets just say I really enjoyed the ML. I thought he was great. I have in the past enjoyed the female lead but really disliked her character in this show. She was not a nice person. She was a deceitfull liar who did actually use the ML for her own ends. For those who say the ML and FL had chemistry I did not see it. Her father even knew he was someone special but buried his clothes and never said anything. The magistrate was creepy and a stalker. The female leads brother made no sense. He went to work for the man who killed his family and fell in love with that nasty Crown Princess who was just a disgusting human being. The ending was ridiculous. A waste of time all around and the stars I gave were for the ML only. Do not waste your time. I certainly will never rewatch the series.Cet avis était-il utile?
Really Loved It!
What can I say...I really loved Vincenzo and I am honestly not quite sure why. It was definately a rollercoaster ride. One minute so serious and the next slapstick comedy. I would go from cringing to laughing out loud. I noticed some said it was classified by netflix as a rom-com but I checked and that is not the case. It is definately more a dramedy as their really is very little "romance" in my mind. You spend the whole series waiting for the romance...I loved Song Jong Ki and how he played his character. I loved all the little side characters who were so quirky and ridiculous but you learn to love them and start rooting for them. The show portrayed how corrupt and disgusting society is and Vincenzo is part of that brutal world and yet you cant help cheer for him. He is the epitome of an antihero. Ok Taec-yeon, Kim Yeo-Jin were incredible. It is rare for me to root for a character to die but boy they made me do it! Kwak Dong-yeon was also amazing in his role. I must say the leading lady, Jeon Yeo-been, did not really do it for me. While she was not horrible, she was not, in my opinion fabulous either. That of course could be the writers fault but I found her personality a bit annoying. I get the writers were trying to make her very outrageous, loud, quirky, and smart but I never got the smart part. She just looked annoying most of the time and she was someone whose mouth worked faster than her brain. I would have given 10 stars, almost unheard of from me, except for the leading lady and the ending. That did not quite do it for me either. Give this show a try and I think you will entertained.Cet avis était-il utile?
What was that hot mess?
I honestly do not even know where to start with this review. If you are looking for an overly long, overly dramatic, overly miserable story this one is for you. 70 episodes of nothing. The first few had promise but by episode 20 you start to wonder how you can possibly make it thru all 70. I am a big fan of all the actors in this but the script did nothing for them. The characters were all so flawed and miserable. Flawed is not bad, but the way they were written was just horrible. Wallace Chungs character was to me a weak and spineless guy who thought he was nice. Sun yi's character was just a pathetic, miserable, whiny idiot who brought much of her troubles on herself. Ray Ma's character I really liked at first but just find it hard to believe his character arc. Honestly not one of these people had a backbone and most deserved their self inflicted misery. The unrequited love of Wallace's friend, her psycho sister who was a stalker to Ray Ma. None of the characters were likable. I do not mind flawed but these people were beyond that. By Episode 40 I was skipping 5 or 6 episodes at a time because they were going no where. Could we see one more confrontation, hospitalization? I should try to read the book because inevitably they are always better than the screen adaptations. I could not like any of the characters so therefore stopped rooting for any of them. I honestly wanted the FL to just disappear I just got so sick of that stupid mopey look she had.Watch this one at your own risk. It is a huge time investment and in my opinion not worth it.

What could have been...
So this is one of those shows that could have been really great but missed the mark. Lead female is not my favorite, she seems to pigeon hole herself into these dramas where her character is ditzy, over the top, and stupid. In this one she is supposedly innocent and naive but she was just not likable. In my opinion she never really cared for the emperor in any way shape or form. I honestly did not care what happened to her at the end. The male leads portrayal of the emperor was ok. His character was a bit pathetic. He said he loved her and made so many excuses for her but posession comes to mind rather than love. In my opinion there were also too many side characters who really served no purpose. The whole plot and all relationships were built on lies and reveng so you know where that is headed. There are many reveng driven dramas in c-drama land but the characters tend to have one or two redeeming qualities that make you root for them. Many people commented that the male and female leads had great chemistry but not in my opinion. There are far better historical fiction cdramas out there.Cet avis était-il utile?
Few words for such a trainwreck
Do not waste a moment of your time on this. Bad acting, bad plot. The only reason it got any stars was the secondary characters were actually quite fun and cute. Male lead was boring, female lead most difinately needs to go back to acting school. They had zero chemistry in my opinion and the whole premise of the show was horrible. Her PTSD, or so it was classified, was utter nonsense and the writers should be ashamed of themselves for taking lighly something that is so serious and damaging to those actually suffering from PTSD. It is disgraceful and the show was utter nonsense.Cet avis était-il utile?

Mediocre
This was nothing more than background noise. Mediocre in every aspect. Keep your remote handy because you will be fast forwading thru most of it. Male lead attractive, female lead pretty, secondary characters ok. Writing boring and typical. Do not understand the reviews saying it will make you cry. Really? Female lead became so annoying. Run away, get caught, lie, run away, get caught, lie. I think everyone who watches c-dramas knows the drill. I guess it is time to go back to watching K-dramas, at least they get it done in 16 episodes.Cet avis était-il utile?

Delightful surprise!
What a delightful surprise! I found this drama to be unexpectedly good. It was a bit overshadowed by CLOY last year and it should not have been. To me it was the sleeper that deserves any and all good attention it receives. It has been on my watch list since last year and I just completed it recently. So glad I did. I thought both leads played their roles so well. I must say that I am now a Cha Eun-Woo fan. I was not so fond of My ID is Gangnam Beauty as I felt the male lead was pretty one dimensional but he was great in this drama. As a young (20 year old) Prince he lead an extremely sheltered and isolated life. His growth as a prince and man in this drama showed that in a sweet and humorous way. The female lead was a pragmatic, intelligent , beautiful character and was played so well by Shin Se Kyung. Without going into a hugely detailed review I would highly recommend this drama. Take the time to watch it...you wont be dissapointed!Cet avis était-il utile?

Horrible
So bad in so many ways. Everything that a badly written c-drama can be. My two stars are for the male lead. Absolutely could not stand the female lead. Wanted to slap her she was such a nutjob. The costumes were ok. The Prince was also incredibly creepy in this and his relationship/feelings for his sister were definatley not normal. I know he finally came to realize it but still really weird. There are many great dramas out there so I would most definatley not waste my time on this one.P.S. Watched the Special and it al least gave a more satisfactory ending for the viewers. I imagine the writers got so much hate mailregarding the original ending they had to come up with something quick.

What was that?
I think it might be time to take a break from the chinese dramas. I am such a fan of Ethan Ruan and for the life of me cannot figure out why he would sign on for such a hot mess as this show. I gave it 4 stars, 2 for the food aspect which was relatively well done and two for Ethan. Nothing else in this show was memorable or worth my time. I got to episode 20 and dropped it. The female lead in this show is awful. She looks and acts like a spoiled 15 year old with her whining, temper tantrums and just all around ridiculous behavior. There is no way that a highly succesful, intelligent , older male would give her a second look. It was way to Svengalish for my taste and while older man/younger woman is as old as time these two did not fit. Not in any way, shape or form. I also had a problem with the lessons we are supposed to take away from this show. What were they? Lie, lie some more, physically harm someone, lie again and then never face consequences of your actions? The whole thing was just gross and ridiculous. This was labled a romance and where was the romance? I would recommend not wasting your time on this hot mess!Cet avis était-il utile?
Boring
The one redeeming thing about this show was the child. He stole the show. ML character so boring, FL character so boring and annoying. I disliked her the minute she went totally out of bounds and told the child she would be his mother. That was so un called for and unprofessional she would have lost her doctors liscense. It went downhill from there. We were supposed to sympathize with someone who could not get her act together. When things did not go her way all she did was pout and run to her teacher friend. She was a completely unlikable person. ML was also annoying but at least he did what he said he would do. The little boy was adorable. Second leads were annoying but somewhat likable. Ugh! another cdrama with annoying typical tropes. Thank god it is only 24 episodes. Watch at your own risk.Cet avis était-il utile?
One Dimensional
Oh where to begin. ML cute and that is about all the good I can say about this show. FL is so one dimensional and boring that I am sorry I wasted my time watching 14 episodes. The thought of going thru 30 makes me cringe. FL needs to seriously go to acting school and the fact that the script is lousy does not help. Every boring cliche cdrama trope is in this show. Secondary characters are pretty boring as well. Nothing can save this one. If you want to watch a boring female lead who has as much charisma as a sack of potatoes then watch this.Cet avis était-il utile?

Just Can Not Watch Anymore
I feel bad that Zhang Han had to put his name on this. I realize the writers are going for fluffy but what they got was a hot mess. Any stars I gave were solely for the ML. FL is horrible. Everything a bad Cdrama female lead shoud be, Stupid, annoying, childish, unattractive. The 2nd male lead is a creepy stalker. The remaining female cast memebers are all typical cdrama idiots. Typical annoying, overbearing mother. Typical female assistant who would do anything at all to get rid of the FL. Can not stand that aspect of cdramas either. Are there any normal mothers in China who want their children to be happy? I should expect the female lead to be annoying 95% of the time in these chinese dramas but every now and then you get a good one. This was not it. Dropped it at episode 15.Cet avis était-il utile?
