    7. Your Name is Rose

    Korean Movie - 2019

    7.0

This one goes to my wife, sometimes you just have to sit down and watch a cuter movie together, where no one dies, no sinister motives, no evil politics, no world ending zombies & just relax and cuddle up watching a decent film.  So being, I found this movie decent and easy to watch, not boring and enjoyable, and you know what, you just need a film like that sometimes.

  • Confidential Assignment

    8. Confidential Assignment

    Korean Movie - 2017

    8.0

In early 2020, shortly afetr we finished watching CLOY (drama), my wife was eyeing different Hyun Bin projects, and she sat me down and said "hey, he is in this spy movie, you wanna watch this with me?"  My first reaction, oh I had to have seen it, I watch all spy/espinoge films!  But I was wrong somehow this one slipped through the cracks earlier.  I found this film to be really really good, excellent story, solid action when needed, and brillant acting.  How did I miss this?!

Just as I'm writing this review in late Jan 2021, a sequel has been green lit!

  • Ashfall

    9. Ashfall

    Korean Movie - 2019

    9.5

I expected Ashfall to be the BIG Blockbuster Korean film of the year.   It came close, but  IMO it fell just short.  A very cool and entertaining film with lots of destruction and special effects extravaganza.  Story was will written and parts were well acted.  I think it may have gone a little OTT with things.   In the end it goes down as one of those memorable natural disaster world ending special effect bonanza films that is enjoyable to watch with a nice bucket of popcorn.

  • Hunting Time

    10. Hunting Time

    Korean Movie - 2020

    9.5

I saw this pop up on my Netflix, and found the trailer and synopsis interesting.  So proceeded.  What an incredible action film.  I was blown away by the way this film was shot, the action scenes and pacing.  It was always keeping my interest, my mouth went in awe for a couple scenes of utter shock.  That is what you want to have in a film.  That kind of thing makes you remember and want more.  I'd welcome a sequel, but who knows TTH may just end up a one off.

  • Summit: Steel Rain

    11. Summit: Steel Rain

    Korean Movie - 2020

    9.5

A sequel to the awesome spy epic Steel Rain.    What can I say, if you like spy, espinoge, modern war games type films, there should be nothing stopping you from watch this sequel, especially if you watched the original.    I want a Steel Rain 3, never enough films like this!   Well thought out storyline, creative, interesting and solid action.

  • Double World

    12. Double World

    Chinese Movie - 2020

    7.0

My wife came to me with this film, which I was surprised epic historical war/battle films are not her thing.  Appears to have something to do with one of the actors in the film.   Though genre wise this was def up my alley, so said ok let's go!  Cool film, lots of action, intersting creative story and good battles and effects.  So I came away from it happy I watched it.  Entertaining.

  • Me and Me

    13. Me and Me

    Korean Movie - 2020

    5.0

'm a pretty good judge of character when it comes to my film taste, and  what I shoudl watch, and what I should not, but every now and then I give flick a go and regret it.  This was that film for 2020.  A total misfire, for some reason I watched the whole film, I think it was because I always thought something else was going on in this film or was going to reveal itself, but in the end I was very let down and did not like the story or it's disclosures.  Gave me a odd feeling and sensed I really wasted my time.

  • Innocence

    14. Innocence

    Korean Movie - 2020

    8.0

Wow, innocence was much much better than I thought it be.  Almost missed this one but so glad I gave it a go.  A very solid entry in the legel/crime/courtroom genres.  Brilliant acting and good story that you really want to see how is this going to end.  Worth It!

  • Collateral

    15. Collateral

    Korean Movie - 2020

    7.5

A movie my wife watched to watch with me, so I went along with it.  & so here I was watching another Han Ji Won film and wondering am I going to like it ? or not (I have this dilemma with her films at times)   In the end better than expected and a solid film for it's acting & family oriented story.  Got on my watched list for the year & it wouldn't have it not for my wife.

  • SkyFire

    16. SkyFire

    Chinese Movie - 2019

    7.5

Do humans ever learn their lesson, haven't they watched Jurassic Park,? LOL.  Since when was it ever a good idea to make a luxurious resort and tourism facility out of an active volcano.  Need less to say you know where this is going.   I really thought the effects were good and the storyline (predictible), but interesting enough to watch, and solid acting.  MAde this a worthwhile film to see.

  • Shanghai Fortress

    17. Shanghai Fortress

    Chinese Movie - 2019

    7.0

A futuristic take on an alien invasion on Earth that focuses on China of course.  Gave me ID4 vibes, but with a much more advanced future tech for defense and the aliens.  The CG wasn't bad, but it could have been better for a film so focused on it.  Then main story was good and it def goes into the whole scifi blockbuster genre.  It takes alot of money to make something like this, but in the end it wasn't as incredible as I would've hoped for.

  • Peninsula

    18. Peninsula

    Korean Movie - 2020

    9.5

I was very impressed with Peninsula.   More of a Residient Evil feel to a zombie flick than Train to Busan.  In this film Korea is now infected  completely and closed off to the world.     You have a really interesting storyline here which is much more involved than TTB had.  IT opens up the new zombie infected Korea filmverse to even more sequels to build on.  I'm extremely interested to see how this develops.

  • International Inverstigation

    19. International Inverstigation

    Korean Movie - 2020

    7.0

A funny, semi action/rime film about a family of three going on vacation  to The Philippines, but in the process gets mixed up in some orgainzed crime business.  Has it comedic moments, stupid moments, but pretty entertaining to watch.  Nothing amazing but worht a fun watch.
