Huangmei Opera

Huangmei Opera is a famous Chinese opera, originally sung by tea-picking women in Anhui. It evolved into a unique style with high-pitched and sustained notes. Today, it is a traditional performance art undergoing revival in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In 2006, it was recognized as China's national intangible cultural heritage.
