CHEAT revolves around five main young characters; an innocent young man, Vee, who has had an unusual sheltered upbringing. Vee lives with his full-time guardian, an apostolic nun. The series concerns the effect that Vee has on 3 siblings: Dong, Jennifer, and Jay. The siblings live with their mother who dabbles in witchcraft. Their father, who is never seen, left the family to be with his Mistress who makes up the eighth character in the entire series.

The series follows Esperanza's search for her real family. It seems that Esperanza's mother, Isabel, and father Juan Salgado, got married without the approval of Isabel's mom. The story revolves around the journey of twins Dominador "Ador" de Leon and Ricardo "Cardo" Dalisay were separated from each other because of financial reasons, even as they followed the path of being police officers. Their lives take a sudden turn when Ador is betrayed and murdered by Joaquin after pursuing the latter's child-trafficking syndicate. Wanting to conceal the fact that Ador is killed in action, General Delfin Borja, Cardo and Ador's maternal grand-uncle and CIDG's Director, orders Cardo to assume Ador's identity and continue the mission his late brother left behind. Sergio, to protect the latter, abandons her with the hope of returning to seek her when he will earn enough money to take her away from the wicked plans of Angelika.  When he finally comes back, Angelica announces him that Marimar is dead...
