Chicago Japan Film Collective 2024

Chicago Japan Film Collective 2024, was held between November 14th through November 24th. It had two in-person screenings, "House of Sayuri" on November 17th, and "Qualia" on November 24th to open and close the festival at the Music Box Theater in Chicago.

Chicago Japan Film Collective's theme for this festival was "Co-existence". It had virtual screenings on the the platform  SAKKA which was available across the US. 

The Chicago Japan Film Collective's objective is the following: "The Chicago Japan Film Collective is proud to introduce Midwest to some of Japan’s most original voices and to provide unique international screening opportunities for these talented filmmakers. With a focus on work created by women, the LGBTQ community, and minority filmmakers, the festival aims to introduce Midwestern audiences to the best in independent Japanese cinema, including narrative, documentary, and animation. Through these films, we hope to connect Japanese and American cultures, create mutual understanding and respect, and expand exhibition and distribution possibilities within international, independent cinema.
