Low budget indecisive comedy or period piece
I only watched this for the ML after seeing him in "Love Me If You Dare". This was not his best performance. I skipped thru so much of this series. There really aren't that many good things about this series at all other than I like the ML - Wallace Huo is just pure eye candy
The Cons (so many):
- FL Tiffany Tang is hit or miss, I like some of her work but this was not one of them.
- None of the support characters were worthy of screen time, acting was so one dimensional across the board
- Terrible production quality - not sure if it's cuz this is a really old series and they didn't have all technology/special effects like they do nowadays, but this was so bad. For example the lighting was inconsistent, often times the lighting behind the characters makes their ears glow like bright light bulbs, and you always saw mist of their spit coming out of their mouths when they spoke. The scene w/ the emperor in the imperial palace hall - the decor was laughable, looked like an amateur theater stage set up.
- The wigs were SO BAD, especially for the ML - literally it was his normal haircut slicked back w/ highlighted bangs and the wig bun you can see where the line is wrapped around the base of his head, with his real hair jutting out. The FL's bangs were just so unflattering and fake looking.
- The costumes were poor quality, and especially for the ML, his clothes did not seem to fit him properly
- Inconsistencies in the storyline details - in the beginning the FL is portrayed as a tough fighters/martial artist compared to the ML and she always had to come to his rescue, but halfway thru she's a damsel in distress and allows the men to grab her and push her around w/out even try to fight back. ML supposedly did not know martial arts...but some scenes he does, and some he doesn't?
- Very tropey toxic love dynamics - ML verbally, physically, emotionally abuses the female lead...over and over again...but she still keeps forgiving and coming back....cuz he did it in the name of love for her own good.
- The ending was a WTF type of ending. Made no damn sense. Utterly ridiculous.

I really tried to finish 3 times and I couldn`t
This is probably the worst drama I have ever seen... I started and dropped it 3 times because I really don't like to leave things unfinished, until I couldn't do it anymore. The story starts well, it's fluffy and light, characters have good chemistry, and the plot is good.Mid way the story turns into melodrama. Every episode someone "almost" dies. Every episode they breakup and get together again. Characters that were supposed to be smart are the dumbest characters ever. They are like play-doh in the hands of evil characters. Come on, male lead is supposedly the best detective in the country! They swear eternal love and then are very eager to accuse each other at first chance. There's absolutely no trust between them, but they are all so eager to die for each other. Female lead is whiney, spends all her time complaining, accusing and pointing fingers. She herself never stops to put herself in the shoes of other people, oh not. Not her mighty mighty from her place of complete wisdom and righteousness...
Absolutely will not finish, will not recommend, will forever hate the hours of my life I spent in this... Music is good though.

Laughter & Tears
PERFECT COUPLE is a historical romantic comedy (emphasis on "COMEDY") Chinese Drama set in the era of the Ming Dynasty with elements of romance, comedy, adventure, lots of misunderstandings and some tragedy. The story begins when Empress Dowager bestows a marriage upon the noble Jin family and Jiang families, in order to strengthen the clans alliance with the Crown Prince. Meanwhile a scheming Second Prince lurks in the shadows, hoping to disrupt the harmonious union of the "Perfect Couple". The series starts out super goofy, but give it a shot. It's gets so good...During the Ming Dynasty, Yu Qi Ling (Yan Tang / Tiffany Tang) heads to the capital with only her adoptive mother's belongings to find her mother's biological son. She encounters Jin Yuan Bao (Wallace Huo), a rich young master who works at the Detective Bureau and was on a case of capturing a man - the thief that Yu Qi Ling was chasing. It turns out that the thief was part of a kidnapping ring, and it led the protagonists to the Thousand Beauties Chamber where Chu Chu, the supposed leader was.
I honestly did not expect to like this show, much less love it. I was bored and wanted something light and casual to watch. At the start it seemed so cheesey and goofy, but that soon became endearing and hilarious. This drama was so funny and yet by the end so gutwrenchingly tragic. Never had a show start off so silly (made me laugh so much) but by the end make me angsty and wanting to cry. What? The show, although super melodramatic was very fun, entertaining and sweet. Yan Tang (Tiffany Tang) and Wallace Huo were so great in this piece. Both leave lasting impressions and gave very memorable performances. Great show and highly rewatchable too.

Funny at the beginning but too draggy
When I started this series, I really like it, especially because I like the handsome Wallace Huo. The first half of the series is interesting and there are some funny moments that make me laugh. Wallace and Tiffany has great chemistry in this drama. The story is nothing special, but I thought it was light and funny. Somehow towards the second half of the drama it became draggy and the FL and ML storyline started to be weird. However, I'm not one that drops drama midway, so I continue to watch, but not seriously watching, only looking at Wallace Huo's scenes. Overall, this is not a drama that I would recommend. There are better ones to spend your drama watching time on. If you like Wallace Huo or Tiffany Tang, you can watch the first half, it's funny, but really wouldn't recommend.Cet avis était-il utile?

If you're a detail paying person, this may not be for you
After 31 episodes, I fast forwarded thru about 2 shows worth. I got tired of watching FL fighting in the beginning after the 4th or 5th time; the fight scenes took up third of the episodes. Then the fighting stopped, and now comes the will we/won't we/i need to save everyone/I love you/I hate you sacrifices, plots and tropes. Fast forward, so much repetition. The bickering scenes between the leads was good, i enjoyed it. But.... The I'll make him/her hate me so I/she can leave was way to much. Then there's the "seriously, you're going there?" moments. Like, firing a canon pointed at a crowd of people; the ML fainted at sight of blood, but then had no problem with it; or the "the lie will kill everyone" trope (that was overused so much);ML can fight, but can't fight; and whole yo-yo on again/off again, leaving/staying.
I started to watch it because ML was a detective. Well, don't expect more than 5 shows worth of that. more often than not, they fall into it like Mystery Incorporated.
The biggest problem I had was with the 'breaking of the rules' story line. If the wife comes from a good or noble family, then she is expected to act an be a certain way. Its overlooked so often, I wondered was I watching a period piece or fantasy. And if the mother thought FL was a vixen, why didn't she lock her away? Or kill her outright? SMH that gave me a headache with all that back and forth.
If you want to veg, and can fast forward thru all the repeating tropes, it's not to bad. But seriously, it could be cut down by at least a third to make it better.

Takes a lot to sit down and watch
The story is your classic enemies to lovers kind of thin FB the acting isn’t terrible HOWEVER the female MC is loud, stubborn and down right annoying she complains a lot and even when she isn’t complaining she has a moaning voice it’s constant complaining then the male Mc is less annoying but he’s so flip floppy and very immature but aside from the story and the characters themselves THE MUSIC DRIVES ME NUTS normally music is supposed to evoke emotions and feelings but this music is more blatant it’s like “look this is funny isn’t this funny” or “she’s being a goof this is goofy music” it’s almost as if it’s telling you how to feel rather than allowing you to fully grasp the scene that’s taking place with the music accompanying and conveying the feelings you naturally should be feeling. I didn’t care for anything other than the two leads interacting and that’s just because it’s the most entertaining part of the show. I don’t normally write reviews but I wanted to share my opinion on this one.Cet avis était-il utile?
