Apotheosis!
Constancy, consistency, and comedic. The three best words to describe this triumvirate of OSSAN’S LOVE, which is one of the best, if not the best BL series and franchises out there. It classically defines and shapes what this genre is all about. Perhaps not to a core of current fans who are zealots of the plethora of BLs with gorgeous young men in stories, that, for the most part, are forgettable and whose ‘love for one another’ is defined by the amount of ‘shipping performances’ they do together. This season and the ones before it are the true pioneers of what BL storytelling is all about and how to carry on with a narrative that remains as fresh and original as the first one. And as poignant.I laughed and I cried. A lot in this season. But most of the time I simply sat there and watched as if I was reading a good book. It gives you that kind of a feeling.
I shall be devastated if this is the last season. I want and need more. They are family. Their last words were, “We are family.” Nothing can be more earnest as this defines and expresses and shows every form of a family imaginable. This franchise is exemplary and, dare I say, an apotheosis in every sense of that word. You will find no better defining example of what a BL is or ought to be than in any of these series and especially in this latest season. Humor, poignancy, charm, affinity, love, and most of all human warmth. What a ride it has been. Please tell me it is not over yet!

I love the whole Ossan's Love franchise
All of the Ossan's Love series/chapters is so enjoyable! It's heartwarming, funny (I am always dying of laughter while watching Ossan's love fr) and it often carries a beautiful message (for example: OLR: what is family and how it differs for everyone).I wholeheartly care about all the characters in the series, no one is evil or mean, it is really such a treat!
Reccomended for everyone, 10/10 (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)

This drama is so TOUCHING and FUNNY. The cast is brilliant, the script is hilarious. SO many puns and gags and Kurosawa using internet slang. Everyone did such a good job it doesn't even feel like they're acting. I'm going to miss this show so much, it just has so much heart. I also love that everyone is like 40. I recommend everyone give it a try even if you didn't like or didn't watch the original series. (although the gagasubs don't seem so good?) That's how you finish a beloved series
I laughed, I cried, arguably better than previous parts!!Yoshida Kotaro (Kurosawa) is hands down the power horse of this thing and his scenes with Hayashi Kento (Maki) are absolute peak comedy. There is a bunch of side characters, all beloved from the previous installments, and all make the entire drama a delicious meal, so funny and special all the time.
1. Story: It was so much fun a change of dynamic with Kurosawa being employed by Haruta and Maki, still having special feelings for Haruta, still fighting with Maki, but on a different level. The story surprised me in places and I couldn't fully predict where writers would take it, which is great. The Izumi-Kiku plot was weird in places which is why I couldn't give full 10 for a story.
2. Acting: Absolutely brilliant. Please watch another BL themed work To Each His Own where Yashida played a horrible awful boss, it shows his range. What a wonderful actor.
3. Music: main theme is nice, but the rest is forgettable.
4. Rewatch value: I don't rewatch dramas, but this one I will at some point.
Thank you creators of Ossan's Love, the entire franchise is incredible!!

I'm too excited!!!
Ossan's Love 2018 was one of my fav BLs of all time i lost counts of how many times I have rewatched it. The movie was cute as well but i thought it couldn't top the series (didn't watch the one without maki though because i'm a huge maki protector and harumaki stan but i also really like haruta i can't choose they're both adorable!!!). It's very unlikely imo that season 2 of any series could be better than season 1 so I had 0 expectation although i was very anticipated knowing there would be a sequel series. But OMG i had been binge-watching Ossan's Love Returns the whole day and had to stop myself bc I need to sleep. IT'S SO GOOD and dare I say even better than season 1! I'm so excited i have to write this comment although i'm only half-way through i love harumaki so so so much i wanna throw up their relationship is the ultimate green flag ? it's the same good acting from all very popular and experienced actors/actresses, top-notch comical humour with better story writing and production AND THE SECOND COUPLE omg the pain they are bringing me ? it's so good i defo will rewatch this once i finish it!!Cet avis était-il utile?
hilarious, poignant and heartwarming
Overall: Ossan's Love Returns was my favorite in the franchise. The writers managed to balance several different genres (comedy, fluff, angst, mystery) well and we had character growth. 9 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on GagaOOLala (along with the rest of the franchise except Ossan's Love Hong Kong) and Viki.Content Warnings: past death/murder, past violence, grief, non con kiss
What I Liked
- how Haruta and Maki had their flaws but they communicated with one another, apologized when they messed up and continued to love and care for each other, there was some excellent character growth
- clever ways they integrated the episode name
- sweet moments
- funny moments (I laughed so many times)
- realistic parts (like the bed head)
- ongoing physical interest/affection
- Moonlight Chicken (Earth/Mix) cameo
- how they integrated rainbows into the episodes
Room For Improvement
- the non con kiss with the new characters
- perpetuating the stereotype of a mother in law who is mean/exacting to a spouse
- wish we had a bit more time/resolution with several of the characters instead of a mad dash at the end
- if characters aren't comfortable doing something like at the end of episode 9, then the production should cast other actors
