Why season 2 is worth watching

This is not a detailed review, because a lot has been covered by others. Mostly, it is a justification for why, despite the lackluster editing and the clumsy plot, it is worth spending time to watch the second season. Readers beware, there are spoilers and a bias due to personal preferences for happy endings.

The best thing about season 2 is that all the main characters get a closure congruent with their past and their personality. Season 2 is a long winding road to reap what was sown in season 1. There is no surprise, but still many shining moments with deeply moving scenes and great dialogs. The psychological journey of the main characters is beautifully crafted over the two seasons.
The horse I bet on to meet the happy ending requirement was Jing. He is the kind of man with whom you can build a life both joyful and productive. The drama understated how YX and him contributed to the greater good by working on the medical encyclopedia. It is a homage to Li Shizhen’s Compendium of Materia Medica and more could have been done with it to showcase Jing genius in logistics. Thankfully, Yang Zi acting was on point on key scenes to justify her choice, and she explained it in the ''dream sequence'' with CX. It goes all the way back to that moment when Jing sheltered her from the candle wax. She realized that what he endured did not destroy his compassion and kindness. The two other MLs came out of their past able of great ruthlessness and brutality, and XY was at the receiving end many times.
Deng Wei did the best with the material given to paint a resourceful, kind and nurturing man. His own closure comes when he affirmed with conviction that he is the better man, despite loosing the physical fight with his brother. He is beaten, but not humiliated. The two others leading actors, especially Zhang Wan Yi, had more intense and complex scenes to showcase their acting skills. Plot wise, the dream scene when CX confronts his obsession with YX was clumsy, but his acting was fantastic. It is only when he is driven at the edge of sanity that CX realized how selfish is his obsession. It can only destroy the happiness of XY.
The only genuinely tragic ending in a classical sense is Xiang Liu. It is congruent with his inflexibility, which he confused with loyalty. The choice him and his foster father made is a suicide pact, ending also with the pointless death of all their soldiers, rather than letting go of the past. As it was said in the first season, they had no territory to defend and no people to protect. He had his chances at happiness, but he refused to take XY hand when she offered it. He could survive and get out of the fighting ring physically, but he never escaped it psychologically. By contrast, the Great Emperor and the King of Haoling knew what the changing times demanded for the greater good, and they were able to move on and lead fulfilling life out of the limelight. In conclusion, despite all its flaws, season 2 brought successfully all the characters at the end of their journey.

Pick Your Poison: The Reverse Harem Roulette

Let's dive into this delightful mess of a drama where choosing a male lead is like playing Russian roulette with your heart.

First up, we have Mr. Polygamist, who collects concubines like like they're Pokémon cards. Blink, and you'll miss another wedding.
Then, we have Mr. Green Flag, the meticulous and stoic male lead. Supposedly the dream guy, right? Except his specialty is making the female lead cry and disappoint her. For some mysterious reason, she keeps giving him second chances. Why? Your guess is as good as mine.
And let's not forget Mr. Can't-Express-Feelings. They keep us on edge, teetering on the brink of confession, but never quite get there. I was this close to grabbing them as dolls and making them kiss each other!

Now, let’s not forget the journey of the female lead. It has so many ups and downs that it's quite unlike any story development I've ever seen—like a rollercoaster designed by a toddler on a sugar high.

I devoured season one, blissfully ignorant of the novel’s twisty ending. I was rooting for my favorite male lead. then, the second season was announced, and my patience ran out. I read the novel, and boy, did I dodge a bullet there!

To those who like to gamble with their patience, watch at your own risk. Nothing will prepare you for the end—unless, of course, you've read the novel and you're here for the angst, to torture yourself, and maybe enjoy some eye candy. It's okay, I don't judge. Enjoy!

This is not a trauma drama it is a frustrating drama

This drama is so frustrating, if you want to be frustrated then please watch otherwise don't , first i will talk about the appearance of of the heroine her appearance could've been better the crown she has put on during her wedding looks so ugly on her , not only in this she was looking ugly in many of the scenes, the dressing didn't match with her which resulted making her appearance not likable,

And the character tushan jing is so weak, i don't think he is fit to be a main character, anyone could kill him easily it is good to have a pure heart but it should have a limit, everything is good when it is under limit, he can only and die , he will die hundred times xiaoyao will be sad hundread time and we will watch their weak , trash chemistry hundred times this totally nonsense, the plot would've been great without tushan jing,

The graphics is a another trash in this drama, some of the scenes looks so unreal in this drama especially the place where Xiang liu sits a shell like structure seat, this doesn't look real at all whenever is see that seat I feel like I'm watching a poor budget drama and the sea 🌊 looks so unreal , the legend of Shen sea scenes looks so real, the acting of the cast is so great meanwhile some characters of this drama is so frustrating, it is ok if a side character is frustrating but if a main character is frustrating then the drama is not a likable drama , the reason I'm watching this drama until now is because of their acting skills the graphics could have been better

Could have been so much better

This is one of the most intense dramas I have watched. I binged season one and enjoyed every episode. In season two, on the other hand, the story was going in a direction I did not like. I actually don’t like dramas with too many male leads, for me two is already plenty. Furthermore I like knowing who is the male lead so I don’t get too attached to the wrong character. If there are several male leads, writers should make sure that the viewers don’t get too attached to the wrong ones, otherwise it feels a bit like a betrayal. But this is exactly what happened here. Although I did not watch the ending, I have read what will happen and I am disappointed. Xiang Liu had always been the most interesting, complex and deep character, and showed the most love towards Xiao Yao. What is the point of building so much tension between these two characters if they will just not ever realise that they loved each other? Xiao Yao was devastated that Fangfeng Bei died because she loved that side of Xiang Liu. She always loved him but he never told her that he loved her. Instead, she ended up with the intolerable loser-attitude Tushang Jing. I found their “romantic” scenes in season one very difficult to watch, they had zero chemistry. I tried to make myself like them together, but when I saw her with Xiang Liu, I saw that he brought out a side of her that she didn’t have with Tushang Jing. It just felt extremely forced when Xiao Yao was together with Tushang Jing. In season one I was so happy when she ended their relationship after it was revealed that his fiance was pregnant. I thought that she could finally move on from him and see that Xiang Liu was really the one who was there for her when she was in trouble. He could give her the growth she desperately needed. Her character from the start was complex and it is understandable that she wanted to be together with a weak person who would never leave her like Tushang Jing, but I had expected her to be a bit stronger than that. The endless melancholy she experienced was just because of one man who had zero personality. The endless second chances she gave him were so painful watch. Xiao Yao’s character was lacking a lot of strength.
Although Xiang Liu hurt her several times in the beginning, I still could not help but like the way he looks at her. The eyes full of love for her, and she, as well, showed him that she had a soft spot for him. Even though she did say that she did not want him to be in her dreams, the tension between them just continued and it was driving me crazy. The fact that Xiang Liu dies is not what I found so frustrating but it is that they never had one moment where they knew they loved each other. I wanted to rate this drama higher but it drove me crazy with frustration and unnecessary sadness due to the indecisiveness and lacking in confidence of the characters. But the reason I gave the drama an eight and not lower is because in reality humans are complex, we are not simple and we do things that contradict each other, we can be weak yet strong, loyal yet cowardly, love one person yet another as well.. I guess that is why this drama was so painful to watch for me.

The acting of Xiang Liu, Cang Xuan and Xiao Yao were perfect. The facial expressions, the nuances and the emotions were very well done. The cinematography was beautiful in many scenes and the music were chosen perfectly. I especially liked the folk song that Xiao Yao sang when she first met Xiang Liu.

S2 fizzles after a fantastic S1

The saga continues with CangXuan consolidating the kingdom after his coronation, which of course means war. However, that serves only as a backdrop to the renewed focus is on XiaoYao's marriage prospects & her four suitors.

For such an epic story, it's a bit disappointing to see so much attention paid to XiaoYao's angst, & a bit frustrating to see her character so oblivious to what everyone does around & for her. She can never be proactive when she's always the last to know.

I never liked TuShan Jing in S1 & was hoping he would have a stronger presence in S2. Unfortunately, he remained either sick or in a coma for most of S2 & I absolutely failed to see why XiaoYao valued him so much. His only demonstrated strength was in throwing money around & getting other people to do things for him. He turns out, however, to be quite a pivotal character in the story, but why wait until the last episodes to tell his achievements in a few words from another character?

Which brings us to Xiang Liu. Xiang Liu & Xiao Yao are connected so deeply, they're already everything to each other except married. After generating so much electricy between the two of them in S1, much of their momentum was lost in S2 as XiaoYao turned all her attention to the very boring TSJ, to the point where I was ready to give up on them by Ep17.

The story does get more interesting with XiaoYao discovering her true identity & the story of her parents. But somehow, YangZi's performance didn't quite hit the sensitivity she gave in S1. I'm a bit confused with S2 as XiaoYao doesn't seem to have luck with anyone & is admittedly lost with herself. She strives to make a place for herself in society, but never seems to get full control of anything. In the end, it all comes down to what others have sacrificed & made possible for her, which makes her rather helpless. Hmm, this seems to be a common theme of Yang Zi's recent roles. There's so much more going on with all the other characters in the story that I felt they should've been given much more screentime instead of all of Yang Zi's crying scenes.

Anyway, S1 was a fantastic start to an epic story, but S2 definitely fizzled. Still, entertaining overall, but as this review is only on S2, I'll have to give it a 7/10.

Where do I start? I feel like s2 was a lot more different than s1. The characters in this show began to change a little bit. CX is more obsessive with XY. TSJ and XY's love start to deepen. XL has lost and given u all his hope on XY.

The chemistry between all the leads were very good, the acting was very impressive especially XL's, I haven't seen any of Tan Jianci's drama however his personality is much more different than on hi6. There are some characters that I loved in s1 which made me hate their characters in s2.

The music didn't really have much of a change just added 2 new songs. The costuming and props were all very unique and well designed. The story line is a little confusing but straightforward.

I've cried and laughed during this entire show, and never cried that much at someone's death.

Sadly lacking

After watching season 1, season 2 was greatly anticipated. After waiting some more for all the episodes to be out, my daughter and I were extremely excited to finally start the first episode of season 2. Right from the first episode we were disappointed. It didn’t seem as well written as season 1. The story line was slower…it just seemed to be missing something. You had the dynamic interaction from the characters in season one, yet it seems that in season 2 they are just there for the part, to have a story. So sad.

The chemistry between Tu Shan Jing and Xiao Yao is truly captivating

The heart of the series lies in the stunning performance of Yang Zi as Xiao Yao. Her portrayal of this complex character, torn between duty, love, and her search for self-identity, is nothing short of phenomenal. Yang Zi brings incredible emotional depth to Xiao Yao, allowing her pain, strength, and vulnerability to resonate with every viewer. From her moments of quiet reflection to her tearful outbursts of heartbreak, every scene is infused with raw authenticity, making Xiao Yao's journey both painful and powerful to witness and I absolutely love the chemistry between Tu Shan Jing and Xiao Yao.

Lost You Forever S2

The reason why I'm typing out this review is because I'm very disappointed with the way the second season first started. After finding out that Xiang Liu ended up dying, I immediately stopped watching the show, overall the first season of Lost You Forever is the peak of Chinese Historical Drama! But that doesn't stop me from depicting the errors in the second season. I felt like it was very slow-paced from the very beginning maybe because my attention span for these dramas is bad now so I've been expecting something big to happen from the very beginning, but that didn't so I completely just dropped the entire drama from episode 8.

Disappointing and Dull: A Missed Opportunity Despite a Promising Start

The show ended up being incredibly dull for me, which was quite surprising given its high ratings. It was promising in the beginning with outstanding performances from the child actors, but it quickly lost its appeal. I had high hopes going in, but unfortunately, I was left feeling disappointed by the end.

I often found myself fast-forwarding through long, drawn-out scenes that seemed to lack any real substance or excitement. The pacing felt off, and it was difficult to stay engaged.

While the concept itself is intriguing, I wasn’t impressed with the execution or the overall cast. The storyline was also lackluster to me. As a devoted fan of Deng Wei, I was particularly let down by his character, Tushan Jing. Despite his immense talent, the character felt one-dimensional and underdeveloped. He deserved a much better, more complex character that could showcase his range as an actor.

In the end, although the premise had potential, the show failed to keep me captivated. It seemed like a missed opportunity to create something truly compelling, and even Deng Wei's presence couldn’t salvage it for me.

Finally a drama worthy of a 10!

Ive been waiting for the second half to come out for what feels like forever! How lucky can a FL be to have 3 gorgeous men vying for her affection? While I know Xiang Liu / Fangfeng Bei will not win the girl, I still find myself rooting for him. He's done so much for her and you can see how much he loves her. He would protect her and never sleep with another woman. I don't get why she chooses a cheater. Anyway so far loving the story and cannot wait to see how it ends.
