Not a popular opinion, but I did not like it.

This series tell the story of a couple, that were madly in love, and life happened to them. I might say this is why we do not watch what comes after love. I've been married, for quite some time I must add, I'm pretty aware that the honeymoon phase is not that long, just like anyone who's married or in a long term commited relationship. The problem of this series is the story is told in a very boring way. The only thing one's looking to see is if they're going to get back together, but as of episode 4, I'm not curious even about that. Would have been better if it was a movie. If you've liked this, you might like Now We're Breaking Up. If you're wondering what comes after love AND don't want to be bored I would recommend Between Him and Her.

Separation means a small death..

One of a kind, one of the best .
What a drama …acting, story line, actors, music, i don’t have enough words to say what i feel. T
Honestly, purity, disclosing feelings, going through a maturity process, being able to say what you really feel, insight, ability to admit “ mistakes” , knowing how to say or not say things. Life. Unfinished business, closing circles, everything is in it. I just didn’t want the drama to end..
Last part was so delicate, fragile, but so many emotions in it that it could burst into pieces, but wit of the leading heroes did it.
I saw a great end. Reconciliation, love wins and putting the past behind after closing it, understanding each other and each own feelings and giving a chance to continue- together!
Thank you .

Not your typical Korean Drama

I've finished watching all six episodes of What Comes After Love. I should say I enjoyed watching it as if you were reading the book. I love the cinematography, love the musical scoring, love the direction, love the story, the screenplay was well written, and leads insane chemistry. Lee Se Young proved once again her amazing acting skills. It was refreshing to see her in curly hair, her big eyes that speaks without uttering any words. Her face is too beautiful that radiates onscreen. I rarely recommend any Korean Drama but What Comes After Love is highly recommended. It may take a while before I can get over it or can I get over it? It's 10/10 for me. Congratulations to everyone involved in this masterpiece. Good job!

This melodrama can make anyone crave for love!!

This is one of the best slow paced drama of the year 2024. The story was nothing extraordinary but what stood out for me was the acting, cinematography and background music. The main leads were imperfect yet beautiful. The shortcomings of the characters felt real to me. Kudos to ML and FL as well as SL for playing their part so beautifully.

MELODRAMATIC BUT BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH

The drama delves into themes of love, regret, and the passage of time. It portrays the emotional turmoil of rekindling a past romance and the impact of unresolved feelings on current relationships. The series also highlights the cultural differences between Korea and Japan, adding depth to the characters’ struggles1. I’ve never been a fan of melodramas, but Episode 1 had me hooked, and thankfully, every episode lived up to my expectations! The fact that she learned Japanese just for this drama already makes LSY one of my favorites.”

What Happens After Love? No caso deles, arrependimento.

Silence can sometimes be loud.

Of course, we haven't reached the end yet, but it's clear that this drama is completely an adaptation of a book. I haven't read the book, but I'm almost certain that the story closely follows its original flow. This series isn't suitable for those with traditional expectations of drama. That said, it wouldn’t be accurate to say it's entirely free of clichés. For now, it's exciting to see how this quickly igniting romance will end. However, based on the way the story is presented, I can say that they don't have to give us a happy ending. We can somewhat understand where their passionate and enthusiastic love is headed. Especially their discussions about what "eternal love" means and their eagerness for it show us the inevitable from the very beginning.

As for the characters, we have a more introverted male character who keeps his thoughts to himself, contrasted with a female character who is much more energetic and has a stronger expectation of love. However, I'm finding it quite difficult to empathize with the female character; I still haven't figured out what her problem is.She moved to a foreign country with her friend, defying her family, and we thought she was quite brave—at least that's what was shown to us. She quickly settled in a culture that was unfamiliar to her, found a job, and fell in love. She moved in with her boyfriend, got along well with her coworkers, and everything seemed fine in her education. So, what’s the problem? Why does she feel so foreign and alone? I couldn't understand that. For these reasons, she left her boyfriend and is still very angry with him even after five years. But why??? Yes, the male character might be a bit reserved about sharing his thoughts, but he was always open about his love for her. She could have built a social circle in the country she moved to, but she chose to cling to Jungo and be alone with her, effectively shutting herself off from the outside.

Now, she's about to marry someone else with whom she shares friendly feelings, yet she’s still in love with the man from five years ago. I’m curious to see how the lack of communication from their separation will play out in the final chapterAside from that, the cinematography and music are amazing. Despite all these dead ends, it has become a drama worth watching for me.

A Poetic Journey Through Love, Loss, and Reflection

This series felt like reading a beautifully written novel—the kind that lingers in your mind long after you’ve turned the last page. From its poetic storytelling to the way each episode title is carefully structured (그건 참 맘에 들었어), everything about What Comes After Love carries a quiet elegance.

What stood out the most to me was the peacefulness of it all. The narrative flows in a measured, almost contemplative rhythm—never too much, never too little. It embraces a somber yet soothing atmosphere, allowing every moment to breathe without unnecessary dramatics.

Lee Se-young once again proves why she’s such a fine actress. As Choi Hong, she delivers a performance steeped in sincerity and depth, effortlessly embodying both the hopeful, open-hearted version of herself and the one irrevocably changed by heartbreak. It’s almost as if she’s playing two different people, yet the connection between them remains achingly clear.

Kentaro Sakaguchi is just as compelling in his role. His portrayal of an aspiring writer who gradually becomes a published author is filled with subtle grace. We watch him transform—from a young, ambitious dreamer eager to experience the world, to a more reflective, quietly regretful man who understands the weight of his choices.

The story unfolds across two parallel timelines—five years ago in Tokyo and the present day in Seoul. Through these shifting perspectives, the drama explores love not just as an emotion but as a deeply human experience. It reminds us that behind every relationship is a person, with their own emotional needs and vulnerabilities. Love alone isn’t enough to sustain a relationship; empathy, understanding, and emotional maturity are just as crucial. Because at the end of the day, when we are young and carefree, we can be selfish without even realizing it.

The soundtrack? Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Let’s just say it’s been on repeat ever since I finished watching.

I really appreciated how the narrative ebbs and flows, maintaining its serenity even in moments of emotional turbulence. There’s an artistry in the way this story is told—a fitting choice for a drama adapted from a novel.

If you’re looking for something that slows down the pace and allows you to feel, this one’s definitely worth watching. 8.5/10.

Melancholy at its finest !!!!

If you're into melancholic dramas with too much angst, this one is for you. This story revolves around a Korean girl named Hong who travels to Japan and rebelliously starts to live and study alone there, even without notifying her parents. There, she meets Jungo, a Japanese boy around her age. Their encounter blossoms into a passionate love soon. The plot revolves around them after their breakup. The cinematography of this drama is top-notch. The acting is also good . This drama is the first drama I've watched with leads from two countries. I enjoyed it, was a good watch.

Amazing photography and score music

This collab is just magic. Despite being just 6 episodes, it delivers a lot in the photography and perfect management of lights and shades. Every scene, specially those that have a lot of emotion, match the incredible score that was done for this one. Even the main song is beatiful. The acting of the main couple of course is on another level, they had good chemestry and were able to portray and carry us from joy to tears and then back to hope. Beautifully executed, this remains a big small gem of just 6 episodes. What's more, they gave us a happy ending full of forgiveness and hope.

the burn and angst is what you find

Being in a far from home country i feel related to this story mainly the FL. The angst and the loneliness she feels is what am connected to. This drama is a great dd to your watchlist as it has some lingering feelings at the end. I am waiting for the happy ending but somewhere am okay with whatever ending they decide on...because reality always sucks and this drama is close to reality.
