“I don’t know why I feel like I’m not part of my family.” (Tam)

Let’s be honest, I gave it a shot because of the actors and actresses. The plot seemed interesting enough too, an angsty story about a group of misfits that come from different backgrounds and might not have a lot in common except that they are all middle children. A bit farfetched, but I can understand the appeal and it makes sense that they share certain experiences because of that.

It had a lot of potential, but it all frizzled out the longer the series went on. Instead of focusing on the problems that the Wednesday Club’s members face, we were following the stories of Venus and her political campaign, Top and his relationship with his dad, and Mink and her husband Karn. Not exactly what I signed up for. And while I can understand the plots related to Venus and Top, the whole ordeal with Mink and Karn was unnecessary. I don’t think it brought anything to the table except for taking up time.

Most of the side characters were very unlikeable. They did try to give them tragic backstories for us to sympathize with them. Or they tried to have them turn a new leaf, show them in a different light, etc. but none of that excuses their actions towards the others, including the Wednesday Club’s members. This goes for their family members but also characters like Top, Mink and Karn.

While it looks like they were trying to go for a found family trope, they didn’t necessarily achieve that. That might have been the plan. However, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. All of them are flawed and are dealing with their personal problems. That affects them greatly, it is not something they can just carry around with no consequences. It is expected that it will all come to a boiling point sooner or later.

Kong (Ohm) – He’s honest and reliable. Kong is also very loyal, which is both his strongest and weakest point. His loyalty makes him a friend anyone would want, but it also leaves him vulnerable when those friends turn on him. I think the biggest mistake they made with Kong is that they made him too similar to Ohm’s character in Double Savage. Ohm is incredible in such roles, I get that, but with the two series airing in the same year, it does blur the lines between his two characters.

Pali (Nani) – I don’t think he had any other purpose than being there for Kong when he remembered him. He was involved with the whole Mink thing too, she is his sister after all, but Pali’s relationship with Kanya was not developed enough. There was a lot of potential there, but it was all glossed over and we see very little of the two. Which is a shame.

Tam (Film) – Tam can be described as sweet, innocent, and positive. But she is carrying a lot of hurt with her. She keeps that hidden though. I do like that we get to see her stand up for herself as the series progresses, but I still feel like she was a very passive character most of the time. I was also not a fan of how the whole story with her grandmother ended. It was not a proper conclusion.

May (Piploy) – She is the character I wanted to hate, but I ended up liking a lot. She does appear like someone who doesn’t care about herself, like she gave up on life once her father ended his. She does play games with people around her, trying to make things go her way. I do like her character growth, the way she changes and starts to regard those around her differently. She becomes a real friend to Peem and Tam in particular.

Kul (Phuwin) – Kul might say he would do anything for money, but it’s obvious that he still feels excluded. Just like he did in the past. Yet he tries so hard to belong to what he considers the popular crowd that he often does things that hurt him, deeply, and hurt those around him. I am not excusing his actions, but I can understand where he is coming from and why he is the way he is.

Max (Kay) – It might be just me, but I found Max extremely unlikeable. Sure, he has a sad past, but who doesn’t? He is not someone you can trust, which is proven very early on. He is also very vindictive and can be quite malicious. And I think a lot of what happened to others could be avoided if he was a better person. I still think what happened to him before and during the series is sad, but it doesn’t really excuse his behavior either.

Peem (Satang) – He’s a glass child, someone’s whose life was always based around his brother and his condition. Peem loves his brother but also craves a chance to be himself, to discover who he truly is. He is very caring and protective, as he was taught to be, which is something that can easily be used against him. He is also loyal and doesn’t want to use his friends, that’s not what friendship is to him.

Stranger's to Friend's to Stranger's

I have not been writing review for almost 7 months now and strangely the last review I had written was also Ohm's drama Double Savage. Double Savage was so disappointed that I had to share my thoughts somewhere. Now even though I really don't wanna write any review but I really have to do this because of Ohm and Wednesday Club because they deserves it.

From the first trailer to the original trailer I literally had zero expectations from Wednesday Club. Even the first few episodes felt boring but with every new episodes the excitement started increasing. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. The main leads were really suitable for their characters. We could see them in different characters and another version of their acting.

One the main charms of this show was May and Peem. When Satang and Film was replaced in place of Joong and Jane I was really disheartened. But guys Satang did a great job portraying the character of Peem. And Satang and Piploy had great chemistry together. And Man I really wish Jane wasn't replaced because I wanted to see Ohm with Jane as we already have seen Ohm and Film as a couple before.

Maybe this wasn't perfect drama with a great storyline. But important issues like Friendship, Love, Marriage, Abortion, Mental health, Politics rivalry etc were discussed and portrayed in a great way. And in the end it was far better than many other dramas that got higher rating than this one.

I truly enjoyed it and if you guys give it a chance instead of looking at the bad reviews, I personally think you also might like it!

Started with a bang, ended with a fizzle

Expanded review title: Started with a bang, ended with a bang that fizzled out so fast that maybe I imagined that gunshot?

When I started Wednesday Club, I was telling my friends that it was like P.S. I Hate You and Not Me had a love child. The elements of PSIHY with the toxic messy friend group and the beginning of the show starting with a death (or threat of a death). The elements of Not Me with political intrigue and borderline gang activity. It was what Only Friends was supposed to be! And for most of the show, that's what Wednesday Club delivered! But once again, I fell victim to the fast paced = good story myth. It was a good story, just kinda fell flat at the end.

What I liked
- May and Peem's friendship, genuinely so refreshing and their plotline with Mink/Karn had me rooting for MayPeem every step of the way
- Kun's storyline, heartbreaking really, he was such a complexly written character and the buildup to him holding the gun in the end had great payoff

What I disliked
- Kong/Palli/Tam love triangle, we wasted soooo much time on Kong and Palli liking Tam when it was pretty much resolved immediately AND it didn't even get called back to later on in the series/in the finale. Like Palli and Kong moved on and Tam was pretty much relegated to support character
- Ranking of the characters in the credits, this is me being petty but no way in HELL should Piploy be the last in the credits, May had the most character development of the entire ensemble
- The finale, specifically part 4, I just hate endings where two characters basically have a rundown conversation of everyone's endings, BORING!
- Nani's acting.......my dude.......where are the acting workshops???

OHM, PHUWIN AND SATANG

This series disappointed me and seemed to not know where it was going. As a mega BL fan I watched because I support the actors I adore regardless if it is a BL or not. Phuwin as always is amazing. Ohm is a marvel. And though Satang was a replacement for Joong Archen he was the true stand out for me.

Phuwin stands out for me regardless as does Ohm but this is a shoutout to the great Satang. He along with Phuwin and Ohm got me through a disappointing series.

Pity I had high hopes but again always great to see Phuwin, Ohm and Satang.

Nothing special

Let's face it... I'm sure most people who have watched this series saw it for the cast and ofc I'm one of them.
I had no expectations, also because I mainly watch bl but no, I didn't like it very much...
In my opinion there were too many stories, some of which were not necessary at all.
The only thing I would have expected is that a strong bond could be created over time between the guys in the club, from perfect strangers to best friends, but this was only seen at the end of the last episode, and it seemed very forced for me.
I honestly don't recommend it but if you are a fan of the cast, it's fine but don't expect who knows what.

Story fell through as episodes went by

Honestly speaking when I 1st heard of this show, I was excited bcuz it looked like a really good show with actors I liked. But sadly what I was met with was a huge disappointment. It started ok and I was heavily invested but somehow it got progressively worse as episodes went by. I was struggling to finish episodes and at some point dropped it but later on continued bcuz it was abt to end.
The main problem of the show was the really sh*tty writing. The characters had barely any depth to them. Their background was around one or two scenes long and I felt like they could've gone deeper bcuz they barely scratched the surface with them. And the plot was inconsistent. Some parts they gave us too much and other parts too little
I swear to God, the director has some sort of piss kink bcuz why were they peeing on things so much. I know it was only three times but tbh one is already too many times.
The only good thing abt this show was the acting. U can tell that they tried to give life to their characters but with what they were given, they couldn't do much.
This show was kinda like Only Friends but worse than whatever that mess was. imo this is not worth the watch. Save ur time and watch sth else. Just bcuz ur favourite are gonna be in ti doesnt mean its gonna be good.

Rushed, but super interesting

Wednesday Club was one of my favorite shows this year. It's a story of a group of young people who came together in hopes of becoming friends. That didn’t exactly work out. Each of them came with their own problems and challenges, family conflicts that spilled into political and societal issues, and while their stories interlocked, the friendship promised in the official synopsis never really materialized.
The show was super interesting and had some of the most talented actors in GMMTV. Unfortunately, it had one major flaw: the plot could easily be stretched into 14, 16, or even 20 episodes. There were so many characters and so many stories, 12 episodes were not enough to do any of them justice. As a result, it felt rushed. Very rushed.
Other reviews talk enough about plot and writing, so let me just summarize my feelings.

Kong – Ohm Pawat was the best actor in the show, and Kong was the purest and most wholesome character. It’s a shame then, that he’d been relegated to mostly a background character. His family story was kinda in the center of everything that happened, but even that was very shallow.
I’d love to see more scenes of Kong interacting with his siblings and know more about how he felt about the whole situation. In the end, even the family scandal was swept under the rug and forgotten.

Palee – was the kind of character you could replace with a coat rack with no loss to the series. The acting was also like that of a coat rack. Given that, he and his love escapades were given entirely too much screen time.

Kanya – if Palee was a coat rack, she was a coat.

May – I can see why she was the favorite character of so many people. She started as very toxic, (which was later explained), and gradually changed to be a better person. Even when she manipulated Tam to get together with Palee, she gave her some genuinely good advice about makeup and protection.
In the beginning, she was interested in Kong and it bugged me how many people shipped them. What did my boy ever do to you that you wish him so ill? Somebody said they would end up like Mink and Karn, but I doubt that—May would eat Kong alive.

Tam – an innocent girl, the complete opposite of May. I felt like she could be on an autism spectrum, given her constant spinning, her avoidance of eye contact, and her strange custom of giving names to everything. Or Film just picked up some of Pennhung’s behaviors from Home School.
Her story was one of the most developed in the show, but I still don’t like how it ended. Spoilers ahead.
We don’t know how was her biological mother’s situation 20 years ago, but she said she worked like an ox to be ready for her younger daughter. It must have been hard for her to have an unplanned child earlier, and giving Tam up was the best of the terrible options she had. Is that a surprise that she didn’t want to talk about it with a virtual stranger? Especially in front of her very young daughter? Tam should go back to her and have a proper talk—not starting with stupid questions.
On the other hand, her adoptive grandma was abusive as hell. Every time we saw her, she was berating Tam, yelling at her, or beating her with a cane. And all of that is supposed to disappear because of one sappy message she wrote twenty years ago? I’m not buying it. I know for some people family is family, and they can treat you like dirt, but they love you, and it’s supposed to make their abusive behavior fine. It doesn’t. I’m glad the old hag is dead and I think Tam is too, even if she wouldn’t admit it.
Now she just needs to go talk to her biological mother.

Kul – look, I’m old and cynical, I don’t give a damn about young people’s love polygon. But a story of a male escort? Hell, yeah. Gimme full 12 episodes of that!
Unfortunately, for most of the show Kul only got one scene per episode and his story was criminally underdeveloped. I'm especially curious about his relationship with his siblings and friends outside the club. Even at the end, a lot of threads were left loose. Did he pay off P’Dream? How did he deal with P’Yam?

Pheem – the character was meant to be played by Joong and I won’t lie, I was initially drawn to this show by the promise of seeing my favorite himbo. However, Satang did very well in this role. There were just a few scenes where he lacked Joong’s physicality: when Baby Satang says he’d protect the ladies, it’s hard to take him seriously, but if the same lines came from Joong, across Bangkok, Karn would wet his pants. On the bright side, Satang can play guitar.
As for Pheem, I feel like his character was also underdeveloped. Even most of his screen time was about Mink or May. I’d love to see more of his interactions with his family, know what drove him, and what his goal in life was.

Max – yeah, you guessed it, another underdeveloped character. To the point, where I don’t even know what to say about him. He was important to the plot and Kay did a great job portraying him (I saw him previously in Home School, where he played a totally different character), I just… don’t feel anything about him.

But even without the full development, the slices of lives we glimpsed grabbed me. The ending left me feeling melancholic. I wish it was longer. I wish we could see all characters getting their happy endings. Who knows, maybe in five years they will meet again and become friends they failed to become now?

And yes, the irony of GMMTV making shows about how people get different opportunities in life while giving main roles to the same chosen few, and keeping other, genuinely talented actors as eternal supports, is not lost on me.

Loved it ❤️

The only thing I have to say is that this is such an underrated show. Each character is different and complicated (even the secondary ones) and the writers and directors still managed to put them together. I loved the interconnectedness of the characters' stories even though they had nothing to do one with the other.
Actually, this is my first review in a long time because I find it really strange that this drama isn't more popular. It's very refreshing to watch something like this after the crazy amount of romantic series I've consumed.

Different Young Adult Program

An amazing story giving a snap shot of 7 fresh university students life, how they deal with becomming adults and dealing with various difficulties in their upbringing while their lives intersect over the time as the series progresses.

I personally enjoyed some of the storylines more than others, however overall they were all interesting and varied. The supporting characters are also great and bring a lot to the stories.

If you expect something cute and fluffy, this is not the series for you. But, if you would like something more gritty, dramatic and at times action filled then this is the series for you.

The acting of Phuwin, Ohm, Piploy and Satand is top notch and I particularly enjoyed seeing them in roles we have not seen from some of them before. It gave it freshness and newness that kept my interest throughout.

Story about how friendship works in real life

It's true that the ending was rushed but regardless I still enjoyed it. I think while the romantic aspect of this drama flopped big time for for me I quite enjoyed their friendship and how they got closer and then parted ways. Wednesday Club helped them find a purpose, made them better person and helped them grow. I got a bit emotional at the scene where Kong imagined all of them together. The best part of Wednesday Club, aside from the incredible acting is definitely how they captured the friendship of the real world at present.
Ohm is an incredible actor and did great portraying Kong however I couldn't see his character much in the story. Nani as Palee is kinda so and so. Film did good as Tam but I feel like she gets very similar roles so her acting kinda feels repetitive but she did well. Satang actually played Peem well. I know Joong was supposed to play this role but I think Satang fits it more. Same goes for Film. I think Film fit the character more than Jane. Phuwin as Kul had me shocked. I would say Phuwin did very well cause every time he appeared I got excited lol. It is very new for him too. Kay did a great job being in character the most.
Now the real game changer of this story would definitely be May. Oh my gosh yall please give Piploy more main roles. She literally kept the show alive. I loved her character the most. I can't believe this is the same Piploy from The Shipper. SHe had incredible chemistry with Kong. I wish they get a series together. My probably had the best character development in the series followed by Tam finally standing up for herself.
All in all, maybe some people might not like it but I really found Wednesday Club to be a good show. And yes from the begining I have always been a KongMay supporter.

underrated gmmtv series

the story was complicated but highlighted the nuances of each character. although each of them had their flaws, their acting and backstory made them able to empathize with. a touching and engaging story. i wish it got more recognition than it has for gmmtv shows, there were not too many reviews on it

A Wednesday Club full of insufferable brats

Ok, so I'll be honest and admit that I mostly skimmed this show for Phuwin's parts. However, I could barely even get through the parts that I did watch, so that tells me enough about how much I would want to slam my face against my desk if I forced myself to watch the entire thing in one sitting.

I like doing Pro and Con lists....but I genuinely don't think there was annoying that was a pro in this show compared to a con. I have never thought I could find a show that would make me immediately rate a 1/10 of rewatch value, not even Tharntype could evoke that in me, but this one somehow did almost instantaneously.

Characters: I don't think I have ever seen a show where I strongly disliked the central cast as much as this one. I honestly was SO annoyed by everyone and had a hard time sympathizing with ANYONE. Well, like I said earlier, I watched this show for Phuwin's character Kun, but even he started to lose me by the end because I was spacing out any time anyone was on screen. I'll run through my thoughts on them real quick (yes it will be quick af because I could name about two traits that they each had because they never got any more development as this dumpster fire continued burning).
Kong: from what I saw, he was alright I guess. Seemed kinda generic, but he was played by Ohm so I was probably biased into liking him from the get-go.
Phali: I genuinely cannot recall a thing about him. So forgettable and I watched this YESTERDAY.
Pheem: bro was just so gullible and jumped to conclusions too fast; dumb.
Mac: Oh brother did I find him SO ANNOYING! I think he was supposed to be the most sympathetic, yet I found him to be one of the worst viewing experiences of this show. So whiny and the way he acted towards Kun in the last episode made my blood almost boil over. THIS GUY HAS BEEN BLACKMAILED, THREATENED, AND HAD HIS LITTLE BROTHER PUT AT GUN POINT, BUT YOU STILL HAVE THE AUDACITY TO VICTIM BLAME HIM???? And I am honestly not even a fan of Kun, but this Mac guy made me feel such sorrow for Kun in that scene. So infuriating.
Tam: can't remember too much about her, but she is in the same boat as Kong for me. Less annoying than most of the others. Oh, but the whole thing with wanting to meet her birth mother and finding out the chick doesn't even acknowledge she had another daughter at any point was honestly kind of heartbreaking. I lost my pity for her however when she decided to not tell the lady anyways. Maybe it's just me, but I would tell the fuck out of that in order to get my closure before letting that lady live her life to the fullest whilst I live feeling completely unloved and forgotten. Maybe that says more about me though.
May: resident bitch here. She annoyed me so much and her snarky look pissed me off to no avail (sorry for the hate towards the actress).
Kun: ok, so now we are at the part that I tuned in for (because I saw an edit of him to Teen Idle on Youtube lmao). This guy was put through the ringer the most I believe. He was trying so hard to fit in and look lavish, yet it all went crumbling down on him at the end. Like I said under the Mac section, Kun was blackmailed and threatened until the last episode. I felt the most bad for him, yet I despise this show so I lost any feeling of sorrow real quick by the end.

The acting: no one really stood out to me except maybe Ohm a tad bit. I came here for Phuwin, yet it felt like his performance was lacking in this one. I have seen him do far better than this, so I was disappointed. It felt like he truly didn't want to be there and I can't even blame him tbh. Bad writing.

The Music: I genuinely cannot for the life of me recall like any music from this, so I gave it a medium score.

The production: Ok so I have seen quite a few GMMTV shows and this one stands out to me as being especially bland and ugly. Like, it was noticeable early on for me (before I became a dry hater of it). The lighting, camerawork, set designs, etc...... They have done far better with probably less funded shows.

The last episode: Dear....gawd......if there was a counter for the amount of times my facial expression twisted from disgust into disbelief and into disgust again then it would easily be past 20 times. I'll do a list here because it'll be less messy that way (warning: tons of swearing and heavy bias incoming).
1. The way Top was handled. Oh. My. God. I cannot fathom why this was allowed on the screen. How come the like only confirmed queer that had any relevancy to the plot was a FUCKING MOLESTOR AND ANTAGONIST THAT BLACKMAILED A GUY INTO SLEEPING WITH HIM AND SOLD HIS NUDES ONLINE WITHOUT HIS CONSENT. WHAT THE FUCK!?!??! I tend to overlook things like this in most shows because as a queer person myself I can appreciate a good gay villain. This trainwreck however, somehow offended me worse than like any other questionable queer portrayals I can recall seeing on a screen. Oh and of course the only queer has to fucking die in the end. Great writing/10 guys.
2. Kong had the motherfucking audacity to say "I can't believe he fell for you" about Kun towards Top, except, no the fuck he didn't?!?!? Since when did Kun feel anything for Top other than fear, anger, or disgust?!!? Man fuck right off with that man.
3. Top's dad was so one note villain that he didn't even break with that domineering shit even when his son was lying dead in his arms. Bro really said "I command you to get up" like okay, sure dad, just remove THE BULLET FROM MY FUCKING BRAIN AND RESTORE ME TO LIFE DIPSHIT. Even Until We Meet Again knew how to do this sort of scene, man.....
4. Wtf was Kun's sexuality? I genuinely didn't have any idea except for that idiot Kong's bullshit statement he pulled out of his ass.
5. May gets shot (yay!), but lives (boo....) and still gets to be with the guy she probably doesn't deserve.
6. That idiot pairing of Mink and Karn took up way too much time in the show and were so pointless when the great "twist" was revealed. Thank god at least a few other comments I saw mentioned this.
7. The whole hospital scene where the worst friend group on planet Earth started beefing and it all around lead to victim blaming of Kun was so fucking infuriating. I cannot for the life of me like this piss brain Mac. That scene gave me such a headache and I could not wait for it to be over. Also, why didn't Kong tell the clearly distressed Kun that he was about to go save his little brother when Kun begged him??? Like, he clearly intended to, yet left this guy on the floor thinking he didn't give two shits about the guy.
8. The principal lady shows the molestation video directly after an honoring ceremony??? Like, you couldn't wait for a day or a week??? Like. what Top did was very wrong, but you just basically pissed on his sorrowful slideshow.
9. The fact that they showed a whole friendship meetup at the clubhouse (or somewhere I honestly do not know or care at this point), but these people were literally victim blaming each other not even 10 minutes ago????? Fuck right off with that nonsense.....
10. Okay so why are there so many piss scenes in this? Like what weird kink does this writer have with using piss as a form of salty revenge.......another reason why I do not like Mac was because he pissed on an already damaged and insanely expensive watch........which in turn ruined Kun's life and made him a borderline sex slave for a very sadistic guy that also later tries to molest Mac......but Mac still victim blames Kun anyway even though Kun faced arguably worse circumstances than him because of Top (yes I will not stop mentioning the victim blaming because it pissed me off to no avail).

In conclusion: I hate this show. X O X O.
