In the heat of the moment, Li Ni accuses Cui Lin of colluding with Sun Jing and purposefully misleading him so that Cui army can take Tongguan. They part ways, but the Cui army is ambushed by Cui Li, and though Li Ni arrives to save them, he waits until the last minute to do so, angering Cui Lin.
