Survival & the pursuit of happiness

For the watchers who enjoyed The Guest, this is like its younger cousin twice removed. Still very eerie at times, and gloomy in its own right, but it didn't crawl up my spine near as much as TG did.

It starts off following Sanyoung, who lives a life cleaning up after her mother and never quite making ends meet despite working herself to the bone. She's tired, rarely smiles, and contemplates ending it for herself. This drama does not have much humor in it, and consistently portrays graphic suicide and violence. If you're looking for something light with ghosts in it, this is not the one.

The storyline and pacing is honestly kind of eh. I found myself bored at times, and scrolling through my phone while half listening through the more filler moments. There is a lot of running around, finding clues, and a slow reveal of the truth, that constantly backtracks with twists and turns.

Yet, despite the more dull moments, I still clicked the next episode without hesitation every single time. Why? The acting takes the whole bakery in Revenant.

By far, the acting is what got me through this. I was unsettled, jump scared, horrified, and angered through this. The first few episodes are rough going, but once the ball starts rolling, the characters were what drew me in and kept me there. They delved into the true motives of peoples actions, the meaning of happiness, and the lengths people will go to just to survive. I highly recommend for the performances alone. Just be prepared to have to push through a few of the repetitive scenes where they run around and extract information.

All in all, a great watch and I finished in three days. If you're looking for truly bad ghosties and superb performances, then definitely give this one a go.

Thank God I didn't drop it

So when I first watched it on its release day on Disney+, honestly, I dropped it just after 10 mins or so. I thought the story was a bit stupid with weak suspense. But, I watched it again, after the season ended. So can tell I had no interest in it. But God knows what really happened and I started the show once again from the beginning. And omg, I couldn't believe myself. I have this rule called "never watch what u dropped" and most of the time I follow it but this show made me break that rule cuz I loved it.
The suspense, thriller, story and ending was fabulous.
They did a good job in hiding the main culprit till the very end. The mystery plot was well constructed. Scary parts r minimal with hardly anything scaring u but still the ghost plot was well written.
I m so glad that I watched this show again.

Overall, a must watch show

a captivating drama that leaves a lasting impact

Revenant is an electrifying Kdrama featuring the incredible duo of Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se as the lead actors. As a devoted fan of both these actors, I was ecstatic to witness their remarkable performances once again. Kim Tae Ri's acting has been consistently exceptional. Her portrayal of the FL in Revenant is simply awe-inspiring, displaying a seamless blend of natural talent and skill. Oh Jung Se, a truly outstanding actor, brings his unparalleled charisma to the ML role. His performance is captivating, effortlessly drawing viewers into the story with every scene he's in.

Revenant kicks off with a death on a dark and stormy night, setting the stage for a thrilling horror tale. The drama cleverly avoids excessive exposition, opting instead to show rather than tell, enhancing the suspense and thrill of the story. Drawing inspiration from Korean folklore, Revenant weaves a haunting narrative that keeps the audience engaged and curious to uncover the truth.

The suspenseful jumpscares, mixed with moments of comedy and creepy vibes, create an enthralling atmosphere that keeps viewers at the edge of their seats throughout the 12 episodes. The plot is masterfully crafted, with layers of lies and real-life experiences that leave you yearning to know the answers to the mysteries presented.

The director's vision and the writer's talent shine through in every aspect of Revenant, creating a captivating drama that leaves a lasting impact. Although there are moments where information is conveniently placed, the impeccable presentation of the story more than makes up for it. It's a must-watch for anyone who enjoys suspense thrillers with a touch of the supernatural.
