Sometimes It's Best to Let It Go

I found this drama meaningful and deep. I can understand the fact that this is not everyone's cup of tea but for me it was perfect. I loved every second of it, I loved the fact that everything was happening slow and so many quotes made me think of my life that was it worth it to live like this or should I change my way of living.
When this drama started I also found love and when their relationship ended mine also ended, so I found so many similarites with my life. The fact that we can talk about so many things but we just can't because just because we talk doesn't mean the ending can change.
This drama shows sometimes we just try so much to hold on but there are something we need to let it go.
I know that it can be boring for many people because every subject in the series is handled in a very deep and mature way. But if you want to watch a slow-breathed, deep series where you can make sense of every word, I think you should take a look.
When a person feels too much, after a while he starts not being able to feel anything or starts talking with his eyes, not reflecting what he feels.
The pain of the protagonists was evident in their eyes, they could only show many things with their eyes without expressing them with words. I think that was very impressive. I think the depth of their love and the value they gave to each other was very beautiful.
People are so accustomed to making sacrifices for someone and giving up on themselves that it may seem selfish to us to see someone living for themselves. However, the normal thing is to be able to live for ourselves and not give up on ourselves for someone else.
Someone always enters and leaves our lives, this cycle will always be like this, the important thing is to take care of ourselves.
Even when we lose ourselves, we have the courage to find ourselves again.
We think that we have lost our love when the person we love leaves our lives, but in fact, love is a feeling that is inside us, so it is still inside us. This feeling is not just about the other party, so we can feel it without it.
I hope this drama will be a hope for people to have the courage to be themselves.

Don't waste your time

I don't normally rate dramas lover than a 5 because I simply don't even start dramas that seem off or I drop them after a few episodes. I wanted to give this drama a chance for the sake of the leads. I liked Song Hye Kyo in DOTS but I can't even believe this is the same actress. Her acting is so stiff and she has zero expressions throughout the whole drama. Jang Ki Yong was amazing in Kill It and I loved that drama, but my goodness this one was a hard miss. Idk what on earth did the leads think. The script is awful and stiff and emotionless. Tries so hard to be impactful but fails at it in every scene for the leads.
The only reason I wanted to finish this was for the cancer plot. My brother also has cancer and I thought I should try not to avoid such topics. Honestly, that part of this drama felt slightly comforting. The people left behind were remembering her but still trying their best to continue living.
Not really a fan of the cheating part of the plot. It felt like it was done for shock value but then I was supposed to root for the man after it because he was going to lose his wife and become a single dad. Okay at least he seemed like a good dad.
The romance between the leads was 1/10. Zero chemistry but somehow they were "in love". The only source of love being their past encounters and "fate". The insanely outdated conflict was how the parents were all against their relationship and that was somehow a huge deal.
Would never watch again.
Honestly, I'm mad at myself for finishing such a bad drama. I usually chose better.

Waste of time...Watch some other show

Just a hyped show ,If you have not started it just drop it. Boring Story, very confusing ending no chemistry with lead couple just waste of time watching this series...Fashion scenes and stills are good. Chemistry between 2nd leads is good compared to the 1st leads .Park hyo joo character is sensible in this entire series .Song hye kyo acting was very terrible..
Show lost it relevance by 6th or 7th episode only. Makers just dragged it with unnecessary stories and plot. After 9th episode the series became so so boring that i watched it by fast forwarding it.
Even though watched till the end with patience expecting some good ending between the characters . But ending of the show was very confusing ,it disappointed me.
Watch some other drama instead of wasting time in this series .
Overall very poor story writing and direction.

You don't have to break up, because it's not even worth starting at all ...

7.6 rating? It's way over-rated.
After watching 4-5 episodes, I've already thought to myself, WTF?
It makes no sense at all. Would you date your dead brother's ex girlfriend?
I get it, the brother's fiance didn't like the FL, and family didn't like her, but still, wtf?
I have to admit, it's rubbish ass script, paired with SHK's worst-ever act, I still wanted to know what happened in the end. I shouldn't have cared. Like most K-Dramas, the ending was very predictable. I should have just jumped to the last episode, and watched it at 5x speed just to see how it all ends.
I'd like to have my 16 hours of life back.
I should have broken up with this drama after 4-5 episodes, or better, not even start the series at all.
Shame on SHK for choosing such a bad script, and such a bad performance.

Pointless Torture

JKY: Was he hoping to pull off a PBG, Encounter-esque drama, as a farewell-fer-now ? FAIL.
- whats up with his manager? Why give him such a crappy script to consider? BUT..
- WORDS OF ENCRgMNT: "Never mind JKY, you're young and gorgeous, and talented. I wont remember you for this!" "NWBU - BE GONE from my mind!" PHFT!
- The right project and the right female lead and cast will put him right back on track, as soon as he gets back!

SHK:. - Girl your acting coach LieS. to. you! Change up. Do something.
- Hire a face massuer, loosen up those cheek muscles daily.
- How about playing a mean 마마/MAMA in a Saguek? 100%
***
This is an easy drama to review. - Save yourself, and your precious time, SKIP this or have BIG regret like we did, OR watch and suffer, like...

Best words to describe the MC: Empty, hollow, devoid of emotion, Devoid of chemistry, Devoid of passion, devoid of warmth, DEVOID periodt.

Best words to describe the story and writing: Half baked, forced, pretentious, boring, stiff, poor.

How I ttruly feel about this drama in 2 words:. Disappointed, Sorry.

Finally,
I Feel bad JKY had to finish this drama...y'know ..."Contracts 'n all" ..well at least I hope, thats how he felt inside. Pretty sure he knew there was no chemistry. Its SO obvious. CASTING! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

2.5/10. The drama thumbnail was well done.

This drama is not for people who loves fluffy romance

Our lives isnt as interesting as crash landing nor wholesome like playfull kiss. I have been watching kdramas for the last 15 years. And for almost 10 years for cdrama. Melodramas typically have this mellow, slow and dramatic vibes. If youre into a romcom or pure romance theme this type of drama isnt for you.

This drama is boring for some because this is life. Life is boring to be honest. Love stories isnt all about happiness and blush. Think about your life your friends is it as interesting as a kdrama. We are always looking for something interesting and vibe thats why alot are trapped on that kdrama world as well.

I personally like this drama because its relatable. I like dramas that I can relate. I dont deny that I dont like romcom because its my pill during my down moments.

Acting? That is what the script is looking for? What would you expect for a typical korean woman who is almost 40 years old. With stressful environment? To act as if they are happy lively whatsover? Family, work, friendship issues. I almost got too depressed because of work problems and my family. I doubt if you have the nerve to do so if youre on here shoes.

I gave 9 because there is always an opportunity for every fictional story.

Understand what youre watching and dont watch those steamy scenes….

The title of the drama is very misleading.

" Now, We Are Breaking Up ", the first thing that pops up in my head is the story is about a breakup between the main couple.

In truth, it's not. It talks about various types of breakups, whether it is between a couple, a mother and daughter, husband and wife, various other relationships, and even life and carrier.

Daaamn, but can we talk about how depressed Song Hye Kyo is in the drama???!! idk in both this and her last drama "encounter", her character is a very depressing woman, who is in forbidden love. like wth??!! The drama is supposed to be motivating, instead, it's VERY depressing to watch.

In short, I wouldn't recommend anyone to watch it

Valuable Lessons

I truly think this is not your standard show. If you're into shows that are lighthearted, this really isn't for you. It seems like nothing happens if you look at the surface but you really need to be able to dig deeper and connect with the emotions the characters are portraying. I honestly learned a LOT about letting go, how life can flow, mending relationships, complexities of relationships, and different forms of love. I won't be rewatching this show- I can't rewatch anything I've watched actually- but it will be a show I come back to when I'm faced with tough emotional situations. It's a lot about putting yourself first and even though emotions are involved, making the right decision.

I also love the title, and it's honestly how most relationships work. There's very few that will last throughout your life. So technically, those relationships you have that you know will fade after some time, you're breaking up. Isn't it a wonderful new perspective? I feel like this will help me become less overly attached to people and to accept life's flow more. Some dramas have really showed and taught me a lot about life and have widened my perspective and I include this drama in one that will be influential in how I see life.

It's a slice of life drama that has that more emotional and sentimental note because this literally could be out of someone's life. People have all sorts of things going on but events don't always rush in, and so the pacing of this show is something I find realistic. If you're looking for a show that really needs to tell you something you need to hear, this is it. Most people who leave really low reviews most probably didn't see this side of the show. Please don't use their reviews to avoid this show. It is worth it.

I don't really leave reviews but seeing the tons of reviews that were negative I really felt like I needed to offer perspective so the show doesn't get a bad rap for nothing.

Sure cure for insomnia!

Oh my gosh, what an absolute waste of time!!

SCRIPT: The dialogue is stilted, there is nothing happening throughout the whole show, there are numerous unlikeable characters (including the two leads, unfortunately), I didn't care if they were breaking up because I don't know why they were together in the first place, the "villain" just made no sense and I felt that they put her in there because every show has to have a villain, doesn't it? And the ending made me want to throw something at the tv. I LITERALLY said, "That's time I'll never get back!" The way the main characters were written was really bad. I was looking forward to seeing Jang Ki Yong - they did put some great clothes on him, but he was a very unlikeable (borderline creepy) character. Call me crazy, but falling in love with your dead brother's girlfriend is just not right. There was something kind of obsessive about him. And her? Just so many things. You're a complete witch to this guy, going on and on about how important your career is, and you let people walk all over you? You have a one-night stand with a random guy and when he approaches you later, you're mad at him?

ACTING: Jang Ki Yong. I loved him in My Roommate is a Gumiho, and his acting in Born Again was amazing. In this show he had no expression throughout most of the show. I kind of felt that he even knew the script was bad, and wasn't making much of an effort. Song Hye Kyo - is she the same in absolutely everything she is in? Speaking of no expression - her face always had the same expression, as did her voice. When I watch her, I always think that maybe she doesn't smile because she doesn't want to wrinkle or something. I think the lack of emotion she displays when she acts contributes to you not liking the characters she portrays. I've never watched a show where there is so much staring going on. Staring into space, staring at each other, staring at a door.

CHEMISTRY: None.

REWATCH VALUE: Not on a dare!

Break up with this drama or better yet, don't bother getting involved...

Okay, so by now, everyone is talking about how Song Hye Kyo's acting, as the FL "Young Eun", is lacking and similar to the other dramas she's been in and I agree. I'm not saying she's a bad actress but I'd like to see her play more diverse roles. The roles she has played in the past and in this series, are all too similar and as such, watching her act the same way can be repetitively tedious and boring. That being said, I want to dive a bit into the negatives and positives of this drama so far:

First of all, there isn't much development into the ML, Jae Kook, (played by Jang Ki Yong), and FL's relationship... other than the fact that they had a one-night stand in the beginning. It seems like physical attraction becomes the main reason that the ML pursues the FL. There's no real substance to their relationship, besides a 10-year-old photo between them and a missed opportunity for a meet-cute that instead went to Jae Kook's brother, Soo Wan. Maybe if they had shown some banter and flirting between the two main characters before leading up to the hotel scene, it would've cemented some kind of emotional chemistry between them. Their stares and smiles are lifeless and boring.

It becomes clearly evident early on in the series that Young Eun's ex was Jae Kook's older brother (half-brother), Soo Wan, who passed away 10 years ago. Now, I can only speak for myself that I was left feeling a bit cringy after learning of this fact. Even despite the 10-year passing of Soo Wan, I don't know why writers think that it's okay to date one of your ex's family members. Even close friends and besties are off-limits but maybe I would've been a bit more accepting of the relationship if it was his best friend at the very least. But close half-brothers? Still a definite no-no.

Now let's talk briefly about Jae's half-brother, Soo Wan who passed away 10 years earlier. He left behind his half-brother Jae, his mother, his fiancé Yoo Jeong and lastly, his girlfriend, (FL) Young Eun. (He cheated on his fiancé with Eun and neither woman knew about each other at the time.) Now I can understand the mother and Jae's grief even after 10 years but the two women?! I just don't understand why the writers wrote a storyline that these two very successful women couldn't move on from Soo Wan after 10 years. I think this is an insult to women in general. Sure, anyone can reminisce about a painful breakup or loss but it doesn't make sense that these two women couldn't start over again with new loves. Apparently, it's the ol' k-drama cliché that women just pine after and never get over the one that got away or in this case, died. Not to mention that FL, Young Eun, was in a relationship with Soo Wan for only 2 months... That's right, only 2 months!!! OMG. Seriously? GET OVER IT. Not a fan of the ex-fiancé, Yoo Jeong, acting all bitter and childish towards Young Eun like a woman scorned. It's been 10 years!! Be mad at Soo Wan, move on, and just let him rest in peace. It's not like Young Eun knew that there was a fiancé at the time anyways. Ridiculous writing if you ask me.

So moving onto the FL, Young Eun's character. I just didn't understand her conflicting personality. On one hand, she closes herself off to love after a 2-month relationship, but yet when it came to employees betraying her brand and designs she worked so hard on for years, she takes a forgiving stance. It would've been better to see her more heartless as a driven and ambitious designer. I think it would've been a more realistic trait of her character's personality and the cutthroat world of fashion. It also would've made the storyline a bit more interesting and not so boring.

That being said, it is refreshing to see the FL's character take a stand against her own friend, Chi Sook, and the other team leader. Also, her stand-off against Yoo Jeong (Soo Wan's fiancé), that guy that was head of the department store, and also against Soo Wan's mother. It made the storyline a tad more interesting. Of course, there are the "I'm against your new love" mothers. Like, let your adult children live their own lives for f*cks sake. Another k-drama cliché, check! Stop adding these parents' disapproval just to pile on more drama.

On a side note, I do like the fact how everything comes out of the open quickly. There wasn't any hiding the fact about Soo Wan being Jae Kook's late brother. That truth was revealed early. But then again, there are a lot of other things that become clearly obvious to the audience even before it comes out later. There are no major secrets between the ML and FL so far. So some points there.

Regarding the secondary characters and their relationships, I didn't care much for them. What's up with the FL's friend, Chi Sook, being drunk all the time and trying to have flirty conversations with Do Hoon? There's nothing attractive or cute about her drunken antics. I don't care much for them. Other secondary characters' storylines aren't that interesting either.

That's my take on this drama so far... I'm watching this just to pass the time but it's so draggy and boring. I'll update my review if I feel like it will be worth doing so after the series concludes. (Watched up to EP8 as of writing.)

UPDATE: I broke up with this drama during EP11. Just wasn't worth my yawns...

Welcome to real life … don't hate it just because you haven't experienced it.

Do not be misled by the low ratings it received in English websites because it is a common trend for shows which tells stories about life, relationships, death, break-ups, moving on, and challenges families and friends face together. One would often hear/read reasons like "it's unrealistic" and "it doesn't happen in real life" so they gave it 1 out of 10 rating, probably less if they can.

지금 헤어지는 중입니다 or Now, We Are Breaking Up is not about romantic relationships, it is about life and relationships. A story about husbands and wives, a story about a dying mother and young innocent daughter, a story about parents and their children, a story about a father and a mother who only wants the best for their children, it is a story about life itself. Of happiness, of pain, of misunderstandings, and of making it up.

It is a story about you and me, and the relationships we have built throughout our lives. A story about the process of "breaking up" with the people we love -- be it because we fell out-of-love or because one was tired and had to sleep and take their well-deserved rest.

A story how we are all "Now, We Are Breaking Up".

Don't waste your time!

As a piece of entertainment this show commits the capital sin of NOT BEING ENTERNEINING.

I must say that when this drama was announced I was really exited, I thought it would be good but I had no idea of how wrong I was. I just didn't care about what was going on on the show, It was so underwhelming, the story had no stakes, no objective… it was just stale.

The only storyline that caught my attention was the one about the FL’s friend that had cancer. The characters were so badly written, and I don't blame the actors on how their performances turned out because the writers and directors gave them nothing t work with. They were just so one note and those who were not boring were just horrible people like the mothers of the main characters. I've never seen middle aged women behave like hormonal teenagers, it was embarrassing and frustrating.

I honestly don't know why I finished it. Just save yourself those 16 hours and watch something else, there are so many good dramas out there.

BELIEVE ME THIS IS NOT IT!
