A Quirky Medical Drama with Room for Improvement
As a fan of Korean dramas, I delved into "Risky Romance" with anticipation, hoping for an engaging story set in the intriguing world of medicine. While the drama had its moments of charm and humor, it fell short in certain aspects, leaving me with mixed feelings. The story of "Risky Romance" centers around the unlikely pairing of a passionate but reckless urologist, Han Seung-joo (played by Ji Hyun-woo), and a cautious, by-the-book endocrinologist, Joo In-ah (played by Lee Si-young). Together, they embark on an unconventional study that explores the relationship between love and hormones. The concept is intriguing, but the execution often feels lacking in depth and substance. While the initial premise shows promise, the development of the story in "Risky Romance" feels inconsistent. The narrative tends to rely heavily on comedic moments and romantic clichés, overshadowing the potential for exploring more thought-provoking medical issues. This imbalance hampers the overall impact of the drama and limits its ability to fully engage the viewers.
The characters in "Risky Romance" undergo some development throughout the series, but it often feels shallow and rushed. Han Seung-joo starts as a charming yet impulsive doctor, while Joo In-ah is portrayed as cautious and methodical. Unfortunately, the character growth fails to reach its full potential, leaving the leads feeling one-dimensional and lacking in depth. This missed opportunity to delve deeper into their personal struggles and motivations diminishes the emotional investment in their journey. Chemistry between the main leads is essential in a romance drama, and while Ji Hyun-woo and Lee Si-young have their moments of rapport, the overall chemistry feels somewhat lacking. The interactions between the characters fail to consistently spark the desired emotional connection, leaving the romantic aspect feeling somewhat forced and superficial.
In terms of production, "Risky Romance" demonstrates a moderate level of quality. The hospital settings and medical procedures are adequately portrayed, but the drama lacks the visual finesse and polished cinematography found in other productions. The visual effects are minimal, primarily focusing on realistic medical scenes rather than extravagant visual spectacles.
The OST in "Risky Romance" is enjoyable, with a mix of upbeat and melodic tracks that suit the tone of the drama. The music effectively enhances the mood and adds a pleasant layer to the viewing experience, but it does not leave a lasting impression.
Regarding rewatch value, "Risky Romance" may have limited appeal. The lack of substantial character development and a predictable storyline diminishes the desire to revisit the drama. However, fans of lighthearted romantic comedies may still find moments of enjoyment upon a second viewing.
While "Risky Romance" offers glimpses of entertainment and humor, its shortcomings in terms of character development, unbalanced storytelling, and limited chemistry prevent it from reaching its full potential. It may still appeal to fans of light-hearted romantic comedies but falls short of leaving a lasting impact compared to other dramas in the genre.

Good and enjoyable! Synopsis was inaccurate.
I usually trusted the reviews and comments on this site and avoided lots of dramas based on them. For this series however, I decided otherwise and thank goodness I did. Note: I watched this on Viki with good sub, and it was 16 episodes.First of all, the synopsis listed was not accurate. ML didn’t have the desire to always win. He had a fragment left in his brain from an accident and it caused some emotional and physical issues. FL was described as obsessed with hormones but it was only displayed significantly in the first few episodes. Afterwards, couldn’t really tell how much she cared about hormones.
Yes, ML was a total jerk in the beginning, but the reasons could be understood (not excused). At he was sweet (enough) in the latter half.
Some comments described FL as a doormat. I respectfully disagreed. She was nice, way nicer than average, maybe like an angel. But she did stood up to her sister in the end. Also, it’s her (extreme) niceness and sincerity that could explain how ML was able to overcome his (wrongfully placed) hatred and fell in love with her.
Now on to Se-Ra. She’s the villain, yes. But again, the reasons could be understood. And in the end, she repented after she resolved the misunderstandings about the accident.
Finally, I do not think the ending was rushed. It had a 1-year time jump but the ending I thought was nice, showing how everyone was settling and working great together.
Overall, I really enjoyed this drama, which considering I’ve watched hundreds of them could be considered good.

Dead Romance
This was an unpleasant watch. The relentless barrage of abuse and animosity made it very hard to see them being together later on, regardless of their chemistry. The same thing applied with that loathsome sister. They went overboard and made it challenging for any of them to redeem themselves, the drama needed to put a lot more effort to rectify the damage done which it didn't. Despite having a very relaxed and lazy 16-episodes, somehow they managed to screw up the last episode by shoving every last minute thing into it. It didn't give enough space at the end to wrap up and gave an extremely comical and superficial ending to everything.Cet avis était-il utile?

****CAREFUL THERE MAY BE SPOILERS******* Honestly, Lee Si Young is one of my favorite actresses. This entire drama series did not cut it for me. I thought this was going to be an amazing series. I'm rating it a 4 because of the actors. The entire plot, the character development, the whole concept and story behind this was lacking.
Seung-Joo (Seems everyone has Joo in their name in this show) is obviously upset over the death of his dear friend. Throughout this entire series, he displayed traits of someone with a SERIOUS mental disorder. He's often times just start screaming at her just because. There wasn't too much background on what happened with the parents of Se Ra & In Ah. We're lead to believe it was an accident in which only they were injured horrible while In Ah was shaken up with some splatters of blood on her face. We have absolutely NO idea how Se Ra Actually felt about the guy she dated who died. (They mentioned his name maybe 7 times in this entire show). Honestly, I don't even remember why Cha Jae Hwan came to Darin Hospital. What happened to the guy who was close with the director?
The entire drama did not captivate me as I thought it would. Honestly there were points in which I found myself skipping through the episodes. The plot, the characters background, their reasoning, EVERYTHING could have been written better. The acting was spot on. The emotion was raw. The story and the drama just could have been written better. There was nothing really holding the entire show together.

Spoiler. Don't even read one word
So cute. They got together. At episode 11, dr han listens to dr joo saying I wouldn't start my dream job If it wasn't your behaviour towards me and then he says the same thing If you had known it we wouldn't find each other. I was hating him so much because he always accused her with no prove and blind he was ı was so annoyed I was wishing for male doctor in dr joo's department to land that punch on him. I wanther joo's female doctor friend to beat him up but she didn't do much it was do frustrating. The story progresses at a good pace I am grateful for that. Dr han needed to get pretty beaten at least twice, yet didn't happen. At episode 12 though, he is learning pretty fast and he didn't throw tantrums or escape thinking he made dr joo too upset in the past. That is also pretty amazing. It is great to watch this.Okay. I just finished ep 14. What thehel love kills theory? That's so stupid they shouldn't have had that in the story. 2 episodes left and now I am considering dropping because love killer idea is so stupid
