Pretty simple and good drama if you're in the right mood for it
What's Wrong With Secretary Kim? is a drama that I quite liked when I first watched it, but it didn't really age well for me. I tried re-watching it completely twice, but I can never finish it.Now, this show is pretty enjoyable if you're looking for a rom-com that you can simply shut you brain off and relax. The lead couple have a nice chemistry and there's some quite funny scenes. Although the male lead mainly consists of your stereotypical chaebol, I think Park Seo Joon's protrayal paints the character in a much more entertaining light and makes the narcissism of his character instead of annoying and petty, very funny and charming. Park Min Young does a good enough job, nothing outstanding, though. But for me the best characters was still, by far, Yoo Sik. He was a nice comedic relief, even though he was facing constant trouble and personal life issues, while still giving pretty good advice. Also the whole dynamic between the vice-president team was interesting to see.
The story is nothing impressive. Quite cliché and to be honest I felt like they stretched some subplots more than they should, which made the narrative feel draggy in many moments. The whole dispute between the brothers was extremely annoying and boring. Both of them acted petty and honestly I feel like they tried to frame Sung Yeon as the "bad guy" in this situation in order for us to root for Young Joon and realise Sung Yeon is ot the gentleman we thought, but that was not the way I took it because it felt way too forced. This plot just felt pointless and made me annoyed at both male leads while I wished they'd just make amends with one another, specially cause whole ordeal in their childhood that started it all was their parents fault.
Talking about that childhood plotline, another boring thing. I just don't think it was properly approached in this drama. It was there so we would be convinced that the main couple were destined to stay together but for me it was pretty lame. Also not sure about this, but the way they portrayed their PTSD felt very superficial as well.
Something that really bothered me was the ending. I thought it was quite nice that Mi So wanted to quit her job in order to find herself and take care of her personal life, but in the end she just gave up on her self-discovery journey cause she was dating the vice-president and that secretary job was suddenly ok with her. It makes it seem the only reason she wanted to quit in the first place was because she was horny or something, and since she got herself a boyfriend all of her problems were solved and her independency just didn't matter at all, I guess. Not to mention that the vice-president acted like a bossy tyrant to Mi So for 9 years and only started treating her properly when she was about to leave him and she was somehow ok with this entire situation.
So, all things considered, a nice fluffy drama that most rom-com fans will enjoy, but don't expect anything wonderful as it's a bit generic and tiring at some points, but fun nonetheless.

did not reach expectations
i dont undertand why this drama got such high rating. the story is bland, forgettable and overdramatic. it started out pretty well but turned super cliche as episodes went by. the childhood and trauma trope is SO titing and repititive that it felt like they were dragging the show at one point. the acting, also could have been much better. the genre is romantic so i expected some butterfly worthy scenes but nah, there was something missing. it has MANY kissing scenes but none of them got that spark TT i think if it would have been my 1st drama i would have never watched another drama againCet avis était-il utile?

However, the storyline is nothing new, it is more of a conventional CEO and secretary chic love story. On rewatching the series, I think you'll find a deeper meaning on the leads' action. Although if you are not fond of overload sweetness yet humorous couple you may avoid this but for those interested you may add this on your "to watch list." The cinematography and music are a plus points.

I love it because it's very down-to-earth. Very well written, and not contrived.
I did not once get frustrated by a constant barrage of contrived obstacles 'preventing' the main romance from progressing.TBH, I'm not here for the angst. When a story takes place within a situation that's genuinely difficult to resolve, that's one thing, but I'm getting sick of romances than finally begin in the final episodes of the show, that drag on, and on, with rushed finish. This is not like that.
I was impressed that the early story was mysterious for a while, but resolved itself quite early in the drama, so we could get to see the couple spend some time AS a couple. It was very realistic that they gradually got better and better at resolving their misunderstandings, faster and with less fuss each time. I thought the pace was perfect.
I smiled so much, throughout this show, that I thought my face might stay that way. It was fun, heartwarming, interesting, and had several noble characters who got a chance to show their best aspects to come out in a better place than where they started.
I gave it 9.5 oput of 10 because I couldn't find anything to criticize about it. It was wonderful. It did everything I needed it to do.
The soundtrack didn't make me stop watching to go get the songs, but some were quite nice, and all fitted the story. At no point was the soundtrack annoying, or out of step with the feel of the show.
I will definitely watch it again, just because it made me happy to watch it.
Especially loved the boy who played main chaebol as a kid. ❤️

Men will find this drama difficult
Currently in episode 7. Why does the writer force the ML to follow the FL around like a unwanted stray? She clearly doesn’t like him, never wants him around and only scowls at him, whether in the office or out. It makes the male lead look like a pussy. It just appears that the writer is a woman that wants to demean the ML and to have him fawn over the FL. The writer gives the ML no respect for himself and the FL always shows it with her constant hatred and glares for him. This is difficult for a man to watch.Cet avis était-il utile?
Very cute romcom
Like Love in the Moonlight, I'm putting this on hold. The plot is not very original, but the execution of it is quite fresh - the funny sound effects, the superb acting... This show is really cute and the first few episodes are hilarious. I laughed a lot. But once again, once the romance plot begins in earnest, it gets kind of boring to watch coz it gets very predictable and I didn't really feel like the two leads had a lot of chemistry. I actually ended up being more interested in all the non-romance scenes among all the side characters. The side characters are all really funny and endearing. Also, I really liked what the two leads did with their roles.Cet avis était-il utile?
I usually complete a drama before commenting. Somehow this drama did not get me... I watched only 6 episodes and got so bored to death with a typical lala land romance and felt didn't want to continue it so I decide to drop the series without even to curious about the next remaining episodes.
The humor in the series was entertaining but there is nothing to gain and the story seems so dull and only a common love story. Not sure why this drama has high ratings. Sadly this is not my cup of tea :(

literally on the 4th episode and can't get pass it
first of all, I am so disappointed. I started this drama thinking it'd be interesting and nice but I was so disappointed. I was on the verge to drop the drama so bad after episode 2.So I read some of the reviews that were spoiler-free and I agree with some of them. I feel like they are just dragging it at this point. I don't think there's any chemistry between the female lead and the male lead. I had such a hard time watching the episodes after episode 3. Not gonna lie, the first 2-3 episodes were interesting, then I just felt like they're dragging the story. as I read some of the reviews, I figured out I should probably drop this drama because I don't find anything interesting other than the male lead just going around 24/7 to find out why the female lead quit her job. this is the simplest summary I came up with. this guy's secretary quits her job suddenly after working for 9 years and the guy wants to know why she quit so he tries to do everything to bring her back basically and they end up falling in love/getting to know each other more during that time.
