In the palace, Liu Zi Ye orders the princes to be barbecued alive for his amusement. Sensing trouble, the princes brace themselves. Liu Zi Ye laughs at their fear but spares them temporarily when one pretends to be mad. Meanwhile, Fen Dai alerts Zhu Que to the danger and urges her to intervene.
