
The TVING youth drama I Am a Running Mate has confirmed its premiere date for March 6.
I Am a Running Mate is a teen political drama that follows No Se Hoon (Yoon Hyun Soo), who becomes a vice presidential candidate for the student council election after becoming a laughingstock due to an unexpected incident. The drama aims to portray the burning desires and sharp conflicts of youth as they fiercely compete for the high school student council seats.
The drama marks the directorial debut of Han Jin Won (Parasite, Newtopia).
The poster captures students running for election. The intense rivalry between the No. 1 and No. 2 candidates for student body president and vice president foreshadows a political whirlwind that will shake the entire school.No Se Hoon (Yoon Hyun Soo), candidate No. 1 for student body vice president, leads the charge. Alongside him, presidential candidate No. 1, Gwak Sang Hyun (Lee Jung Sik), who comes from a rich family and has an air of mystery around him; and the model student and choir director equipped with commanding charisma, No. 2 presidential candidate Yang Won Dae (Choi Woo Sung), all seem determined, fixated solely on victory.
Then there is the No. 1 vice-presidential candidate Yoon Jung Hee (Hong Hwa Yeon), exuding the confidence of a top-ranked student; while the school's social butterfly and No. 2 vice-presidential candidate, Park Ji Hoon (Lee Bong Joon); and Yeongjin High's visual icon, No. 2 vice-presidential candidate Ha Yoo Kyung (Kim Ji Woo), further intensify the race. In this election war, where only the maddest can win, the New Blue Kids' bright red political battle sends dopamine levels skyrocketing.
The teaser opens with the narration, "Do you want a chance to change the world?", hinting at the fierce election campaign war between the two factions as they strive to win over the student voters. As the student council election approaches, someone tells No Se Hoon, "I see potential in you." At that moment, his ambition begins to stir — just as senior Gwak Sang Hyun appears before him. The story begins when No Se Hoon is recruited as Gwak Sang Hyun's running mate and becomes candidate No. 1 for vice president.
A tense handshake between No. 1 presidential candidate Gwak Sang Hyun and No. 2 presidential candidate Yang Won Dae sets the stage for an intense showdown. Meanwhile, No Se Hoon's expression of unease as he stands between them raises curiosity about the fierce election war at Yeongjin High School.
