
From writer Kim Eun Sook to director Na Young Seok, Korea's top creators are bringing Netflix's 2025 lineup to life with a buzz. Netflix boasts this year's lineup as "undoubtedly the best lineup ever."
On the morning of February 4, the event Next on Netflix 2025 Korea was attended by Kang Dong Han, Netflix's VP of Korean content; Kim Tae Won, director of Netflix Korea's film division; Yoo Ki Hwan, manager of content (non-fiction) at Netflix Korea; Bae Jong Byung, director of content (creative) at Netflix. Also present were writer Lee Na Eun of Melo Movie, director Kim Won Suk of When Life Gives You Tangerines, director Lee Il Hyung of Karma, director Yoo Young Eun of Love in Translation, and Lee Chang Min of Cashero.
Kang Dong Han, Netflix's VP of Korean content, stated, "This is the best lineup we've ever presented." "In 2024, for an entire 52 weeks, Korean productions made it into the global Top 10 at least once every week. This is clear proof that Korea has really become a powerhouse in content creation."
The lineup of the Netflix original series is packed with various genres.
Highlights include Genie, Make a Wish, penned by star writer Kim Eun Sook (The Heirs, Descendants of the Sun, Goblin, Mr. Sunshine, The King: Eternal Monarch) and starring Kim Woo Bin and Bae Suzy; Melo Movie starring Choi Woo Shik and Park Bo Young; noir action drama Mercy for None; the mystery thriller The Price of Confession, starring Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Go Eun; Love in Translation, starring Kim Seon Ho and Go Youn Jung; When Life Gives You Tangerines, starring IU and Park Bo Gum; Karma, starring Shin Min Ah, Park Hae Soo, Lee Hee Joon; Cashero, starring Lee Jun Ho, Kim Hye Joon, Kim Byung Chul, Kim Hyang Gi, Kang Han Na, and Lee Chae Min; and Hong Rang, starring Lee Jae Wook and Jo Bo Ah; among others.
At the event, director Kim Won Suk of When Life Gives You Tangerines revealed, "The series is structured in four parts and will be released over the course of four weeks."
Netflix will also release seven Korean films throughout the year, which include director Yeon Sang Ho's Revelations, starring Ryu Jun Yeol, Shin Hyun Been, Han Ji Hyun; Netflix Korea's first-ever animated feature film Lost in Starlight, with voiceovers from Revenant co-stars Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung; the sci-fi film The Great Flood, starring Kim Da Mi, and Park Hae Soo; among others.
Netflix's variety show lineup is also highly-anticipated. Upcoming shows include the mystery thriller Crime Scene Zero; The Devil's Plan Season 2; Physical: 100 Season 3 (Asia); and K-culinary survival competition show Culinary Class Wars Season 2, among others.
Yoo Ki Hwan, manager of content (non-fiction) at Netflix Korea, mentioned that boxing legend Manny Pacquiao will participate in Physical: 100 Season 3 and urged viewers to look forward to the show.
Kang Dong Han, Netflix's VP of Korean content, stated, "In this era of content overload, people are consuming content more frequently and in greater quantities than ever before," and added, "I hope that the first thing that comes to mind [for content] is Netflix. To satisfy viewers, we need a variety of works. It's not enough to simply produce a lot of works; rather, we are putting a lot of effort into pursuing a carefully curated variety."
