Kim Soo Hyun's agency asks Kim Sae Ron's mother to get in touch for an explanation
On February 14, the production team of tvN's upcoming weekend drama The Potato Lab released a teaser video showcasing the bickering dynamics between Kim Mi Kyung (Lee Sun Bin) and So Baek Ho (Kang Tae Oh).
The Potato Lab follows Kim Mi Kyung (Lee Sun Bin), a passionate researcher obsessed with potatoes and So Baek Ho (Kang Tae Oh), a charismatic but ruthless capitalist driven by making profits. So Baek Ho arrives at the Potato Research Center in a mountain valley, where he clashes with Kim Mi Kyung.
The newly released teaser video kicks off with the passionate chant of "Potato! Potato!" from the researchers at the Potato Research Center — Kim Mi Kyung, Bu Jae Jung (Yoo Seung Mok), Go Jung Hae (Kwak Ja Hyung), Joo Seung Hee (Woo Jeong Won), Lee Chung Hyun (Yoon Jung Sub), Kwon Hee Dong (Nam Hyun Woo), and Jang Seul Gi (Kim Ji Ah).
Their peaceful days, spent obsessing over potatoes and dedicating themselves to research, are suddenly disrupted by the alarming shout of department head Bu Jae Jung: "Is the lab shutting down?!"
This upheaval is triggered by the merger between Seonnyeo Foods and Wonhan Retail, bringing in the Strategic Planning Director So Baek Ho, who comes to the center with a hidden agenda.
Not to be fooled by his looks, So Baek Ho is a hard-core strategist who constantly targets the weaknesses of the center. Prioritizing principles and efficiency above all else, he earns the nickname "capitalist grim reaper."
So Baek Ho's bumpy entry into the Potato Research Center adds an extra dose of humor. In one moment, he's frantically ducking behind Kim Mi Kyung to escape a flying chicken; in another, he's visibly startled by the warm — but unexpectedly intense — hospitality of the affectionate potato family.
Despite his sharp and calculated demeanor, Baek Ho's surprising clumsiness adds an intriguing twist to his character, making his daily life at the center all the more entertaining.
In particular, Kim Mi Kyung's fiery warning, "Don't underestimate our research lab. I'll show you what real hellfire looks like," heightens anticipation for the dynamic chaos that awaits So Baek Ho at the Potato Research Center. With tensions brewing and unexpected clashes on the horizon, his journey through this unconventional research center is bound to be anything but smooth.
